I really enjoyed this book. It really touched on my feelings, and had me totally absorbed in the story. I felt for both Kade and his captive, everything the felt as they had to do what they had to do to survive. Good job.

Phew!!! This book was hott. Loved Kade and Olivia plus Master A, Master G and Talia. It was very descriptive, in some parts I had to fan myself. If you like stories about bdsm, survival and endearing love then you should definitely read this.

Another excellent dark one from Willow Winters. I read it in one day. A little confused with secondary characters. I didn't quite understand the criminal side of the story, but absolutely loved the ending.

A great story that had me glued from the beginning. There is some dark elements but I've read darker.. I enjoyed the storyline and how it all played out. The characters felt real.. and the hot sex scenes were, well hot!

>Book review – Broken – A Dark Romance

>I am an independent reviewer. This is a standalone book with an HEA. This story deals with BDSM and human trafficking. If those two things are triggers for you, I would skip this story. Kade is so far under cover, he is really blurring the lines between right and wrong. Olivia is an innocent who accidentally witnesses Kade kill a cop. Kade takes her to train her for the sex trade, in order to save her life.

>Most of the rest of the story is all about BDSM. Kade feels conflict about forcing Olivia to become a sub against her will, but he trains her anyway. Olivia falls for Kade, but seems to always keep a bit of herself. She is always thinking of how to survive and escape. Kade is confusing. He is a good guy acting as a bad guy. He never tells Olivia the truth to give her a chance to play along. He also professes to love her, yet shares her.

>The story is mainly written for fans of darker BDSM. The plot had so many holes in it. If this was a book about BDSM scenes without a plot, I would give the book 5 stars. Presenting the book as a story, with a plot and character development is misleading. This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I can only give the book 3 stars.

There was never a dull moment. Action packed throughout the entire book. I couldn't stop reading. It was very suspenseful and hard not to become completely enthralled with jade and olivia's unconventional love story.

This story is exactly what you would expect from the title and the blurb. I almost dropped a star for the sheer predictability and the fact that it crossed a line for me. BUT I reminded myself that my line was pure bias (at least in the realm of fiction) my own ethic, if you will, and this story isn't condoning the behavior, just illustrating it. So it wouldn't be fair for me to leave a lower review purely because of my own tastes. Just be warned - the warning is absolutely true. Mature, semi-hardcore dark romance readers only. (I'll explain more on that in a bit.)

Briefly, Angel (because I honestly can't recall her name) sees something she shouldn't and gets caught by some very bad men. One man, Kade, who catches her eye right away, is bad enough to take her as a hostage, to train her to become a sex slave against her will. Well, mostly against it. Things are not as they seem though, and Kade is not quite as bad as he appears.

The writing was good, pacing great, and the plot well planned and executed. If I got bored, it was because of the predictable aspects, not pacing. Admittedly, it took me a while to finish this, because it felt cookie-cutter to me. As in there are just so many BDSM books trying to one-up each other on the market right now, so this felt like just another to me. I feel like I've read it a few times before, at least the interpersonal relationship between the 2 MCs was rote, and rife with the usual abuse and lack of respect for another human being, deeply disturbing misogynistic themes, and shameful objectification of women. But the woman finds it sexy because she had a naughty fantasy once, thus making it okay. Again, it plays on this bad boy is really bad, he's a tortured soul (who gets off on torture), but has a heart of gold. The men take pleasure in hurting women, punishing them for arbitrary mistakes, abusing them, raping them (except at the last second he asks if she's cool with it, despite the obvious precariousness of saying 'no' to him in her situation, thereby making it concensual), kidnapping them, having zero regard for their autonomy and dehumanizing them to a despicable degree. The GOOD thing about this story is that the author at least acknowledged much of that and addressed it. The bad thing is that when it wasn't just being subtly condoned, it was being overtly glorified as scintillating and foregivable, so long as he's really super sorry and says that he 'loves' you. Do you have any idea how many battered women couldn't count how many times their 'bad boys' apologized profusely, claimed their undying love and devotion, then turned around and repeated the abuse? Probably most of them. So I take issue with these men who lie, lie, lie (as Kade did ), vowing safety, protection, monogamy, etc. And then when they don't come through, the chick is like, 'well, I liked it in the end, so it's okay.' Or he apologized, or whatever. She never takes him to task for his lies and indescretions, just decided that since she "loves" him, it's okay. What the bleep?!?

Yup, so that bothered me. Can you tell. :-)

But alas, Ms. Winters knows her audience pretty well, I would say. She wrote just enough bad to be titillating and just enough good to be acceptable or justifiable. In the end, she wrapped up her story with a sense of justice, the heroine finding her way and the HEA she deserved. I will at least grant that Winters didn't let all the sins go unpunished, and that, to me, is huge.

So, if you're looking for a very dark, very cringe-worthy, and yet also sometimes sensual, erotic read with a decent plot and all the common ingredients for BDSM, this will suit you well.

This certainly wasn't one of Ms. Winters' better dark romances. It's simply "ok". It's so fast paced that I never got a feel for either protagonist. And I never knew what Olivia Bell looks like because there's no description of her. Kade, yes...lots of details on him, but not Olivia. Being in the dark like that takes everything away from the enjoyment of the story.

Anyway, I liked Kade even though he's a borderline criminal. I dunno...I just liked his commanding demeanor with an air of danger and power and a side of sweet and tender. He's forced to keep his undercover identity safe by committing heinous acts of violence to infiltrate the human/sex trafficking ring he's closing in on. And Olivia is simply in the wrong place at the wrong time when she get's snatched. (Where's Liam Neeson when ya need him?) Olivia enters into a never-ending nightmare and Ms. Winters conveys the emotions with true precision...bringing untold atrocities committed against young girls made into sex slaves. Fear, anger, confusion, rage, defiance, humiliation, degradation and compliance...Ms Author brings all those emotions to the surface to the 10th power...as well as Olivia realizing the reality of her nightmare. It was really happening to her and that reality was conveyed so well that it was frightening to read. The truth of her nightmare was astounding, though not very believable how quickly it all happened...and frankly, it was borderline ridiculous how fast she complies.

Oh...and Olivia never takes a bath or a shower until 60% of the story. I just kept thinking "eeeeeee-yewwww". I mean after all these torturous and demeaning acts were done to her and all the sweating and stuff we read about...she's put to bed without cleaning up...(gag me now!) She's never once groomed, waxed, plucked, shaved, trimmed or hygienically prepared in any way. No physical or exams to test for disease, etc. She's introduced to her new lifestyle immediately after riding for hours in the trunk of a car! Anyway, the story is told in first person with a dual POV. It held my attention but it's not worthy of more than 3★'s

Willow Winters is at the top of my favorite author list. I first read "Dirty Dom", which I couldn't put down until I had read the whole thing and it was then that I was hooked. Broken is a very dark, sexy and exciting story with sympathetic characters that become so real that it is almost like watching a movie than just reading words. How this author is able to take such dark subject matter and turn it into a happy ending has me in total awe. I just purchased "Inked" and "Bad Boy" and am looking forwards to reading them as soon as possible. A word of caution, these books are addictive. You won't be able to read just one.

I love stories written by Willow a Winters. Each book has well defined characters that you can't help but develop feelings for. Olivia and Kade are the main characters and how they are brought together and develop feelings for each other and how they are forced to deal with things going on around them and still have feelings for each other. You will not go wrong reading her books. Each book is better than the last one I read.

Holy heck this book was awesome! It hit every spot you would want for a book. We feel remorse for The heroine at the start. She had a crap hand dealt but she still pushed forward. She never stoped fighting, no matter what she was a fighter.

Crap! Kade surprised me! He was ruthless and deadly in the best possible way! I warmed to him, because even under all that dark he was fighting to be be what Olivia deserved. I can't go into more detail but even though he was mean, he was amazing!
Holy plot twist! I loved every twist and turn this had some familiar topics but they were done so differently that it all felt new and refreshing. The duel POV helped with the flow of the story. Not only because it helped with the plot twists, but because it gave us such amazin insight to both main characters. It felt short. That's my only complaint. While there was a lot packed into these pages, I felt some parts could have been drawn out.
Overall it was amazing and I was both sad and happy at the end. I could read these characters for so maybe more hours. 4.5 stars. #2OCCJD
