Maybe if you read Penthouse and Playboy this is the book for you. I didn't care for the descriptions of the women too much detail I didn't care for the women having to take their wet shirts off I didn't care for the how the men were checking out the women's bodies all the time

This is a well written story with a very involved plot. it is hard to read because it has a very bleak plot that foretells a harsh future world that I for one hope never comes about. The story pulls no punches and is really stark. It portrays a world built on fear and the collapse of humanity, run by mans lowest common denominator. It is a brilliant book but hard on the heart and soul of those who are soft and kind.

I really enjoyed reading the book it was very entertaining and flowed well. Events seemed a little accelerated power out less than a day and already mobs and violence and paranoia from small towns. I would think it would take a little longer for people to realize the power outage wasn't temporary. Who knows the human race walks a fine line between normalcy and chaos on a daily basis. When the s--t hits the fan someday only the prepared will have a chance at survival. The ruthless will thrive for a while but likely kill themselves and squander their resources and eventually die off

They've been talking about it for years. Preparing for it. You laughed and scoffed at us. Then in a blink of an eye it has started and only the ones you laughed at are prepared. What happens to civilization when mankind is thrown back to a time before cell phones, internet television and radios. What do you do when the information highway has a multiple pile up. If you are Max you hurry home get your supplies and hope in your old car and head out of the city for the place you set up as your safe zone. One thing you should not do is start picking up stray people and saving others from doped up soused would rapist and thugs; and that only in the first quarter of the book.
Strong character's, well maybe not Chad so much. A fast moving story that is well plotted and written to grab and hold the readers interest from beginning to end. I stand front and center to announce I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Mandy, Max and Georgia and her kids. I am looking forward to seeing were they go from here. Listed as Men's Fiction, I have to disagree. Bo the sexes will find the story riveting and thrilling. I do not recommend this book for young teens or younger because of the violence content.
My rating of "Getting Out - A Post-Apocalyptic EMP Survival Thriller - The EMP Book 1" is 4.5 out of 5 stars.

This was a well written story, I always know when the characters click with me and I read straight through to see wha6t will happen to them. It was a bit routine to be head to a "farmhouse" owned by one of the group. But that was okay to this story it ensured them a way to survive. It was good they ran into another group of people so their chances of survival increased. I would
Ike to read more about this group, how do they survive who will be added to the group and how do they remain hidden as the situation deteriorates.

I'm a new reader to Westfield's books and was quickly drawn in by the first book in the series. I've since read all 4 and am hoping that number 5 will follow before too long. Ryan doesn't give you a lot of breathing room between the action and, as is true with most books of this genre, some of it is a little unbelievable or quirky....BUT...you wouldn't be reading this sort of stuff if that wasn't what you were looking for. I've really enjoyed Ryan's stories and expect that I'll be a repeat customer.

This is an amazing story. I really like the characters and the way the story developed. I could see this really happening and I am very curious to see what future lies ahead for this series and the characters within. It wont be easy and I am curious to see how everyone overcomes the challenges ahead. If you like dystopian books then you will really enjoy this story. Im really happy Mr Westfield gave me the opportunity to read this book.

I appreciate that the main characters aren’t 100% ready for the collapse of society, or that they have the gear but not necessarily the know how. That’s realistic and believable. What I found myself not believing is how quickly things went south and how many head shots the good guys were able to make. I don’t think I’ll be reading the next book as it sounds like the author makes everyone out to be cutthroat or desperate and unwilling to pool resources and work together.

I binge read this book staying up all night doing it. I read my first apocalyptic book at 17 years old, long long ago. That was a real pathetic attempt at the subject matter compared to this book. I look forward to the rest of this series! Thanks so much!

It was ok, not the best apocalyptic story I have listened to. Strictly picked for the audio narration and genre. It's a shame that the other books don't have the audio narration to see how the series plays out.

Good read, I really liked the scenario and the realistic viewpoint on prepping. Everyone always has there wish list, but never quite completes it. So then what do you do when time runs out. Do what you can with what you have.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely love a good post apocalyptic book, and this one definitely fit the bill. The story was action packed from beginning to end. The characters grew as the story progressed and it had a constant stream of page turning events. If you are looking for a good thriller I would recommend this book. I can't wait to see what Ryan comes up with next!

Do you think what you have to survive in the post apocalyptic world? Once the EMP hits the lights go out and silence roars. Society is on the brink of violent chaos and the only way to survive is to get away from the cities and into the wilderness. Max is an office worker with some gear and a plan. He is one of the first to realize the danger. His plan is to get out to his old farmhouse and bunker down. He thinks he is ready but soon finds out he needs more than just the right gear. Mandy is a waitress with the day off when the power goes out. She quickly realizes things are way wrong and she needs to get out but can she trust a perfect stranger? Georgia is a single mother to two teenage kids. She drives a pickup and has a passion for hunting. She certainly has the skills to keep her family alive but does she have the ability to make like and death decisions in the blink of an eye?
Buckle up and welcome to Getting Out: A Post-Apocalyptic EMP Survival Thriller. I loved that this book is about normal every day people who do what they have to do when the lights go out and they realize it is more than a power outage. I love that they are not preppers and just normal people doing what they have to do to survive. This book will keep you on your toes and you butt planted firmly on the edge of your seat. This is a book about survival and normal people trying to make it in a world gone mad. Max, Georgia and Mandy all want to survive and will do what ever it takes to make this happen. I don't want to say much about the plot and ruin it for anyone. You just need to get this book and enjoy the ride.
Ryan Westfield has done an amazing job with this book and left me breathless. I can not wait for the next book in this series.

I thought this was very well done on the whole and it kept me very engaged throughout. I'd like to think there might be a follow-up book that delves into the more difficult issue of sustained living and dealing with the inevitable trouble makers that would follow.

I have REALLY enjoyed Ryan Westfield's journey into his new post-apocalyptic series. His characters are fresh and interesting, the post-EMP scenarios are believable, and I keep wanting more as I finish each book. And refreshingly, there are few typos. Keep up the good work, Mr. Westfield; you keep writing and I'll keep reading.

This book makes one think of how everything can go wrong so fast. It also helps one know that we all must be prepared if that day ever comes. The Author does a great job developing the story and I look forward to the other books in the series.

I was hooked from the start! There was a lot going on, never a dull moment...fast-paced action with a side of suspense, the perfect amount of horror, and sprinkled with a tad bit of romance. Can't wait for the next one!

A very realistic picture of what I would imagine a sudden stop of civilized order would bring. The characters come alive and they are everyday people with everyday problems hopes dreams and fears. Definitely recommended.
