Great series overall. I enjoyed reading all of them. This last chapter (book) wrapped things up nice and neatly. My only gripe is the books were too short. I blazed through United As One in a couple of hours. It would have been nice if there was more sustenance in each of the novels. It's not like there was a lack of things to write about and elaborate more thoroughly. One of these books is equal to about two chapters of Atlas Shrugged, which I just finished reading while waiting for this last book to come out.

After reading all 7 books, I am pleased and saddened that it has come to a close. I love the ending where - wait, I can't reveal the ending.
This book 7 was excellent. Remained adventurous and fast pace.
I would definitely recommend this book including the 7 book series to anyone who enjoys reading science fiction, adventures and action books. I hope to see something just as good and daring by Pittacus Lore.

The last book is morose in many ways, but the action, as in all of the books, is continuous. War, no matter how just the cause is always ugly, devastating, and filled with tragedy. The heroes in this sequence may have incredible powers, but it is their 'humanity', bravery, and sense of what is just and right that makes sense. Science fiction, when well done, demonstrates the best of all worlds. This series does that. I would love to see five more movies made to accompany the first one.

This review can't begin to say all it's been as far as exciting and impressive work. I think it could go on with more books. I'd love to read about the new garde, their kids, friends, etc. But I also want to know about John and Marina. & #6. What was her real name, or what all did she go on to do? All of them touched my heart. Bernie Kosar & the rest of the garde animal gang.. So much more could be written , but it rates 5 stars or 10 if I could.

This books is a fitting finale to a wonderful series. It is very emotional and action-packed. Most of all it provided closure. Congratulations to Pittacus Lore for the job well done. Hope John and the Garde will return to some more actions.

I have been anxiously awaiting this book! I even bought two so my son and I could each have our own. He's 16 and this is one of the very very few series he enjoys and has read every one of. If you are considering buying this...do i!! You'll love it too! Wonderful book as always by this author!

Thoroughly enjoyed all the Numbers books starting with I Am Number 4. If you're looking for romance, super hero, science fiction, excitement and that "just couldn't put it down" book these are it especially United As One.

I enjoyed his series but I do have to say that as the books progressed they seemed to be more full of swear words, which is disappointing in a book for young people. But I enjoyed the characters throughout and thought the story line was creative and pulled me in.

Read this last book in the series in two days. Read it every time I had a break.
I enjoyed the struggle and difficult choices that the young Lorics had to make. The school at the end of the story reminded me a bit of X-men though.

This author, whoever it is, weaves a GREAT story and I was never able to see what was coming. The character development is believable and I will miss spending time with them! I haven't been able to get much done since I began this journey with John Smith so it's probably good that I'm finished with it. I love the ending. WELL DONE PITTACUS!

I enjoyed the entire series. Written intelligently and not just young adults or teens. Lots of pain and sorrow and having to "just do it". Message is good. Commit to an ideal and stick to the course... No excuses...
I was waiting for it.... Open ending allows for possible follow up. ? There are other "support" books in the series that are of no interest to me. I say stick to the sequence because weaves a great story.

Reading this series has been so much fun. I have formed special bonds with all of the characters, as if they were real people. I cried with them and laughed with them, I've felt everything they have. I loved these books, and I hate for them to end. But I guess all good things must come to an end. I felt as if I was there with them, in their world. They were great, and I will never forget them.

Too much time had elapsed between books so I had to think about where the story left off last time. Also writer kept switching back and forth between Four and Six in first person so kept losing thread of the story. Other than that, I really loved this series. Will it continue with Five as the villain?

"I'm through with numbers." A fitting sentiment for John Smith to utter at the end of the book/series. I enjoyed the last book. It ties up all the storylines and ends where it starts with number four.

It was a fantastic story, but the author really dragged out the story into like 6 books which wasn't necessary. I enjoyed that it was like a real battle where there are casualties and not where all the good guys live in the end. I was glad to the bad guys lose in the final confrontation!

I couldn't put this book down! I will be reading it again with my grandson. We have shared the whole series, and we had many discussion of the characters and wondering how this would end. Some of my favorite characters didn't survive (I won't tell who they were). For us it started with the "I am number four" movie! I wish they would make more movies from this series! I am sad that the story is done, but it was a good ending that didn't leave anything unresolved.

Well, it's over. Phew. That was a LONG series. I did like the ending, I'll start by saying that. In fact, I probably liked the ending the best. I struggle a bit with the series just because it felt like it went on forever. I'm not against long, drawn out series. I'm a die-hard Potterhead. But Harry Potter books can all stand alone. There is a defined plot for each. I really felt like, although there was an attempt at unique plots, there was really only one overarching plot, and that can get so frustrating when it is spread over 6 books (AKA years).
So, I admit to being frustrated with the length and drawing out of this series. Still, I always enjoyed it. It had great characters and good action.
The finale is no exception. In fact, it's the best because it has all the action and characters, and somebody WINS! Finally we get resolution! And there are plenty of close calls and scares along the way, so it is not a boring resolution. I just like it all--the way they finally defeated Setrakus Ra, the resolution, etc. It was all great.
It was too bad Sarah died, but I'm kind of glad too. I was surprised... but her relationship annoyed me a little. Better to focus on John. And I wasn't in love with how they resolved Five, but it wasn't terrible. I just didn't love his role in the very end. He seemed so redeemed...
Anyway, I would recommend reading if you've read the series, you won't be disappointed. And if you haven't read the series, now is a good time to start; you won't have to wait 6 years for resolution!

Perhaps it was the fact that I engrossed myself within the book and read without expectations, as well as denying myself the opportunity to think of endings and possible outcomes. Or maybe it was how the daringness of author made it impossible to even try to guess would become. The author ties in the series full of both losses and gains, tears of sadness and joy, with an ending that doesn't leave me feeling empty unlike many others I've come across. Definite must-read, and for me it's a definite must-re-read. Two thumbs up from this guy.

I loved this book. Ever since i read the 4th book I have waited for the day the next one would come out. The way that the author ends the series was not simply a fairytale, but also held aspects of grief, loss, regret, and sorrow.
SPOILER:
Was anyone else crying near the end when six goes down and finds John "dead"? I love the last thing that John sayed when fighting Sekarus Ra (butchered that).
This series is in my top 3 favorites and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoyed series such as Alex Rider, Maximum Ride, or Gone! Great job!

Such an amazing finish to the series, filled with unexpected twists and turns. I like how though it's a win for the good guys, it comes at a high cost, with many scars that our heroes and society alike, will never completely heal from. It's an awesome read well worth taking your time to fully appreciate the many important subtleties and metaphors throughout the entire series coming to their natural or surprising frutrition.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!

This storyline was written even before it was read. The previous books had twists and character development. This book was required to complete the series. But it lacked imagination. it was basically type cast. Written like a platform game for a playstation.
It was not very enjoyable.

I needed to finish the series with my grandkids even though it is not well written. This final book gets rather ridiculous in combating the Mogadorian threat. Even the kids thought it was somewhat disappointing.

This, of course, was MUST reading for all of us who read the (too many?) installments of this immensely successful and profitable series. By this time, the action scenes, regardless of how inventive, seem expected and a bit tiresome and even induce some skim reading. But that's THE greatest virtue of this series: it COMPELS those who invested in it to find out how it ends. And it's ending, while largely expected in result, DOES NOT DISAPPOINT, most notably in the meaningful lessons to be gleaned from it's concluding " One Year Later", epilogue - like chapter. I read this series fairly simultaneously with my 11 year- old grandson-- who brought it to my attention-- and joyfully exchanged thoughts with him when we got together. Thanks ,S and " Pittacus Lore" ( yes, we discussed "pen names" and " pseudonyms, too), for a wonderful experience. It was like reading James Patterson's Maximum Ride series on steroids. Which reminds me, S just might enjoy that great series, too! The joys of reading! The joys of a grandparent! J.

I have enjoyed these books since day one release. 1 terrible movie and a load of books later I feel like I've been cheated this one final time. This book just seemed so rushed. So much detail missing, so little care for characters. This books length could've been doubled with little effort. But, all in all, this book did bring an end to one of the best parts of my childhood and early adulthood. I encourage any and all young readers to give this book a read.

I've loved this series through and through, huge fan from the beginning and book 6 was mind blowing. But the ending of this one doesn't quite stick. The authors are pulling a Hunger Games type ending and I hate it a little.
But anyway I recommend this book to those who love science fiction. This entire series is amazing.

Overall, it's an entertaining finale to the series. However, the constant undeclared POV shifts from chapter to chapter (requiring the reader to spend some time in first paragraph or two changing character contexts) is ridiculously annoying. So annoying that I actually wasted a few seconds of my time writing some code to describe it:
ARGV.each do |i|
if i == "flip"
$UNDECLARED_POV_FLIP = true
else
$UNDECLARED_POV_FLIP = false
end
end
# because an undeclared POV flip from chapter to chapter is always true
$UNDECLARED_POV_FLIP = true
if $UNDECLARED_POV_FLIP == true
puts "Annoyed that I have to context switch for the first few paragraphs of this chapter"
else
puts "story is an entertaining wrap-up to the series"
end

This was an action packed book, but that being said, I'm still trying to write an alternate ending in my head where Sarah doesn't die. The whole series was buoyed by the love of John and Sarah. The last book and the last battle seemed bittersweet and kind of flat without John reuniting with the love of his life. Why does it seem that each new teen fiction book that comes out has one or more of the main characters dying? Isn't this world full of enough misery? Couldn't we at least have victorious fictional characters and a happy ending ???? Why not let the Mogs just take over the world if you want a crummy ending? You could have killed off all of the guarde and let Setrakus Ra rule the earth with his creepy black ooze! To say I was disappointed in the ending is an understatement,if you get my drift. Sorry, but I really needed an ending with John AND Sarah. Rewrite please!!

I really enjoyed this book. My only surprise was the amount of inappropriate language used. Maybe I didn't realize how much was in the other books but I felt like this one had way more. It's not over the top, but it just stood out to me more in this book.
Besides that, it's a great book.

The best book of the series. Wonderful action throughout, and lots of background information.
Many twists and turns that were not expected. I hope that there is a continuation, but I do not know how this series could be expanded, as all of the loose ends were tied up.

I don't like endings. And I hate saying goodbye to characters.
If you've read the rest of the books, you'll want to read this one even though it is sad. It isn't a nice, tidy wrap up. It isn't a fairytale ending with happily ever after. But it is a solid conclusion.

I have eagerly awaited each book and lost files. While devouring each book I, of course, knew it would have to end someday. I have anticipated this, the final edition, with baited breath and quiet dread. I wish it could continue even though the ending is quite satisfying. Thank you Pittacus Lore! I have run through every spectrum of emotion. Of course that is the true sign of a well told story. I will remember my new friends and mourn the losses for quite some time.

I have enjoyed this series and the supplemental books very much. I am sad to see it end. This book did a nice job of winding everything up satisfactorily. Without spoilers (hopefully) I will say that I liked that everyone was given their chance against Him.
I do have two caveats to my 4 star rating of this book and it actually goes for the series in general. Nine is an entirely underused character. He is hilarious and can you imagine what the series would be like if we could read it from his perspective occasionally? The second thing about this series that felt a little off (especially in the last two books) was the level of swearing and the words used. I really felt this wasn't necessary and didn't contribute in any way to adding tension to a scene. The earlier books don't have this but the last two are peppered with swearing. Initially I thought it was particular to certain characters (part of their personality) but in the last book it is everywhere.

The final chapter in the Lorien Legacies has been 22 books in the making (7 Major books and 15 of the Lost File short stories). It started with the introduction of Number 4, John Smith, who met a girl Sarah Hart, a best friend, Sam Goode, and several other characters. At the end of this story, we were introduced to Number 6.
We learn that 4 and 6 are from Lorien, a now dead planet that has been destroyed by a race called the Mogadorians. Before the end there were 9 children sent from that planet to Earth, the final hope of Lorien. The children have special gifts, Legacies that give them powers that they will use to defeat the Mogadorians. They are known as the Garde. But they are 9 against an army of millions. An army led by an evil genius Warlord, Setrakus Ra.
So for the past 22 books, we have followed the stories of each of the surviving children, who are now teenagers, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. The first 3 died at the hands of the Mogs, as they have to be killed in order, being protected by a special Loric charm (awesome if you are number 1 on the list??) We have met a Mog who fell for a dead Loric and was given a legacy by her, been given back stories for all the characters (even to why one of the Loric went rogue and turned to the Dark Side). And this has led us to this point. This final book.
We are now faced with Setrakus Ra having become sick of waiting for the humans to surrender to his will. The Garde have unleashed the power of Lorien on Earth, creating an unknown quantity of ‘Human Garde’. These are Humans that now possess the powers of the Garde, Legacies that they can wield, but of course they are completely untrained, and they are only just starting to get them. The Garde are only now coming into their full strength and are ready to fight.
There are over 20 warships poised ready to destroy the major cities of Earth, and Humanity’s forces are pretty much powerless to defeat them. Things have never looked so bleak.
However, John has discovered he has Pittacus Lores power, Ximic, and can mimic any other Legacy, and things look up for our heroes at the end of Fate of Ten.
Ultimately, this is the this is (and always has been) an epic struggle of Good vs Evil. In a lot of ways, it has had a similar plot line to things like Star Wars – a young boy, finds out he has powers, facing a Dark Lord trying to conquer the galaxy with a legion of troopers. He has some trusty side kicks (9 is so like a Wookie) they are fighting ridiculous odds, and it is up to the young boy, who eventually grows stronger than all of them, to take down the Dark Lord. There is even a similar shock value moment when we learn that Ra is Loric (not quite like he is Luke’s Dad, but close!).
At least in this one, the female shock trooper (Phiri Dun-Ra) doesn’t get less than 3mins of screen time (Captain Phasma) and end up in the trash – she is actually causes havoc and destruction like there is no tomorrow (and maybe there isn't!).
Putting that all aside though, United as One is THE massive fight for Good, when the Garde make their final stand after all they have endured. There was a lot that had to happen in this book, a lot of plot lines that needed to be wrapped up from both the Legacy series and a few of the Lost Files series as well.
Unfortunately, it didn’t quite get all of it in there.
For the major story – Garde vs Ra and Mogs – (No Spoilers) – this is where the Garde make the above mentioned final stand, to a large extent it won’t disappoint. Having said that, there were a lot of things that could have been done better, with the characters, story endings, and some things left unanswered.
For the minor story lines, such as the sub-characters, this was pretty poor. This could have done with another book almost as there was very little effort put into what happens with the Human Garde, the families, the military, even the majority of the Mogs. Given that there had been so much effort on back stories and side plots, a lot of it was left unanswered or very short in its storyline. Either that or there will be yet another set of short stories to finalise some of these other things. There was some effort made with Phiri Dun-Ra, and there is some fantastic bits with her and the Garde. But other characters, had such a small part, such as Lexa, Walker, Rex, and for some, we don’t even know what happens to them at the end. The final section of the book (you will know it when you get to it), seemed very rushed as well. Although it was a nice add-on and finale to the series, it could have been done better, and seemed like it was a bit rushed, as if the author was just over it a bit and wanted to get this done.
There were other aspects of the story that were a little bit disappointing, but I don’t really want to go into it and give away too many spoilers, but the nature of the ending was a bit too happily ever after for my liking given the odds that they were facing.
One thing that kind of left me confused (and sorry for the spoiler here – yes bit of a spoiler here but nothing major) was that there was a lot of stuff about how they were going to rebuild the planet Lorien, and how Lorien still had a spark of life etc in early parts of the books. And I know that they threw a lot of their stuff into the Loric Well to bring the Lorien Entity about and Earth is now meant to be the new ‘Lorien;, but what about the planet Lorien?? Is it just left for dead now? This and a few other plot lines were just left out in the open, and I hate it when a series does this (especially one with 22 books, it's not like you didn’t have the word count)
However, when all said and done, this was a really good series for those that like a good bit of adventure, with a serious villain, the good guys and girls (and it had some seriously awesome female heroes (and villains!) and role models which was a good change, 6 was just brilliant and by far the best character of the series), fantastic humour, and a pretty good storyline, this is well worth it. These are an easy read, and a lot of fun. Sad the series has ended.

This was a really great ending to the series. It had a satisfying amount of new characters and new Legacies. This entire series was so amazing. I wish the ending had been a little more clear about what became of everyone after the fact, but overall I would highly recommend this book and series. This kept me hooked the entire time, much like all of the series. I have high standards and I finally found a series to meet them.

This was an amazing ending to the series but I left much to be desired on the ending of the book I wish it ended a little differently but I'm ok with it. loved the book I read this in one day because I couldn't pull my self away from it.

This book had me hooked the entire time. It wrapped everything up. The only reason I'm giving it four stars is because it left me feeling empty at the very end. Too many details, too quick in the last chapter. I wish there was more.

Like the others, it's hard to tell who's talking and which story piece is going. There's no background refresher, so if you haven't read the others, or read them recently, you don't know what's going on. I couldn't finish it

I have been anxiously awaiting this book since the moment I finished The Fate of Ten a year ago. In anticipation of the release I re-read all the books in the series, including all The Lost Files. I was pumped, ready for this book to hit the shelf, so much so that I actually ordered an ebook copy & a hardback copy...just in case the hardback arrived late, so I could still start it. And I did start reading it as soon as midnight rolled over on the 28th. It did not disappoint me at all.
A few tiny details bothered me, I'll explain...
SPOILERS AHEAD-
Mark James- His death was so, just blah. In the start of the book, and the end of the last one, Mark is super involved, then Sarah dies. He & John argue & at the start of UAO John asks Mark to take Sarah's body home to her family. He gets Mark a car, but let's him do this alone...really John? You're in the middle of a war & you let an ally drive off alone? No concern as to what happens to him? You couldn't spare 1 agent as an escort? Seemed shortsighted to send a grieving, non-powered human, who happened to be the deceased's ex-BF on such an errand, to a place that might still be crawling with enemies...it's like BEGGING for him to get F-ed up.
And he did.
His death almost felt like an afterthought, like, "hey...wait, we forgot about Mark...so, he dies here." Yes, I know this was built into the plot as a device to slow John & simultaneously push him forward...but it felt cheap in regards to Mark's demise. Yeah, it worked by busting up the Patience Creek hideout & group, injuring John & killing countless allies, but it wrapped up Mark's storyline in a way that felt like maybe the author forgot about Mark & hastily wrote in his death. There were numerous details left out, such as, "was Mark attacked with Sarah or after he dropped off her body? & did Mark even get Sarah's body to her family?" I'd have liked to know the answer to this.
The one thing I did like about the Patience Creek battle? Five. I know he did an awful thing, killing Eight in TFOF, but I'd been curious as to whether or not the author was going to try & redeem Five. It felt like it occasionally, but never came to fruition. This made me sad. Was Five an awful person? Yes. Did he suffer for his actions? Yes & yes. Still, I figured at least John would want to try & help him, after all, he's part of only a handful of Lorics left. I was shocked that he was left, alone & suffering on an island in the middle of nowhere. I mean, the group forgave & accepted 2 Mogadorians, 1 of which HAD killed humans & admittedly been hunting the Garde, Rex, before he had his encounter with Adam. Maybe forgave & accepted are poor words here...I guess maybe it's better to say, they allowed the possibility that maybe Rex was more than his past? That much is true...so why not do the same with Five? John was even willing to accept the fact that maybe, just maybe, there was hope for redemption among the captured true born Mogadorian population living in Alaska. But a few scenes later, he refuses to lend that same possibility even for a moment to one of his own people. This felt out of character for John.
Yes, Five was an enemy in a lot of the books, he did terrible things. But by the end of book 6, TFoT & all of book 7, UAO, it felt like Five was really trying to help his people, at his own peril, desperate to prove himself. And he succeeded.
He taught John how to fly, he kicked Phiri Dun-Ra's a$$ properly, saving a lot of people. He flew straight into the final battle w/ Setrakus Ra & suffered terrible injuries during it. And they thought the best idea was to ignore all those actions & leave him to possibly due all alone? Do I need to remind anyone that the reason Five turned to the Mogs in the 1st place is BECAUSE he was alone after his cepan died? Because he felt the Loric abandoned him? Like they're doing at the end of book 7??? In this universe, in the future I cannot help but think that this action much bite them in the a$$. The disregard they treated Five with, even after he put himself in harm's way repeatedly lowered my opinion of John.
And Marina.
Oh...Marina, she's been through so much. A delicate flower, raised in a convent, not trained to fight, but also a bad a$$ that all cower before...
What?!?!?
First off, I felt awful for Marina when Eight died. I know it hurt her, but they were in a war & bad things happen in war. It was worse that it was at the hands of a Loric, yes, that's true. But I was shocked at the malice Marina was capable of displaying, it seemed out of character for how she was written up till this point. Also, I never really "believed" the switch from "girl raised in convent that's never fought to girl who suddenly becomes so fearful people cower". They even had Six hesitantly approaching her in some scenes of book 6. It's as if suddenly, Lore decides Marina will be formidable & *poof* she is, happening from one page to the next. Also, because she's raised in a convent, she's very spiritual, almost religious & very forgiving & soul searching acting as the groups moral compass. That is, until she's suddenly NOT. Yes, she loved Eight...he died & I understand her hating Five over this, but that she's unwilling to even allow for any of his actions to be redemptive? It kinda sucks. She's given permission basically to kill Five after the war is over & still Five fights with everything he has, knowing this is the case & afterwards, no one even gives him a thought.
After the main battle, she tells Six, as to how Five died, that, "no one deserves to die like that, not even him" but then after the battle, she sees a YouTube video seeing something do from the Mog base's rubble & proceeds to go searching for Five...to punish him, because Justice. These actions, they warped what Marina's character became, making her different than how she started, a person she might not have been proud of before the war. And yet she cannot see how she has been warped by this war & entertain that the same happened to Five, but in a different way. For being the groups moral compass, she sure was thirsty for revenge & went from sympathetic to problematic quickly for me.
As for her & John sort of hooking up at the end of the book? Yeah, I figured that would happen, saw it occurring a few books ago...especially after Sarah died. Marina always had such a starstruck thing for John, that turned into admiration, then friendship...it made sense. Especially given her ice legacy & John's fire legacy...like opposites attract? That was a nice touch.
I wish Nine had a bit more backstory here, more "page time"....he's such a great character & I felt he relegated to sidekick here. I kept thinking he'd maybe get another legacy? His always felt the weakest of the bunch...compared to everyone else's. For such s great character, I was let down by Nine's treatment in UAO. He deserved better. Six, she was great as usual, tho I feel she's been given too much credit as to the final battle with Setrakus Ra...almost like, "of course Six killed him! She was the best fighter of them all!!!"
Let's be honest here...had John not sacrificed himself to Ra, she wouldn't have had a chance against him. She would've fallen like the others. Instead, she's healed completely by Marina & goes down to the scene of the battle to find John dead/near death, & Setrakus Ra, a centuries old man, with no nose or teeth, disintegrating bit by bit, desperately dragging himself to his magic ooze to regenerate himself. He could barely fight back because of what John did to him. So in this battle, Six didn't have to put up much effort because John did all the work. It was noble, wanting to save John, but if Sam had destroyed the mountain, Ra would've died underneath it succumbing to his injuries sustained in his fight with John. So can we please stop acting as if Six killed Ra alone? Thank you.
All in all, my complaints are just thoughts on the book, which I liked more than anything. I just wish things had ended differently for certain characters. Like Five, I can't help but think the Garde remaining that were connected by the charm may feel a twinge of guilt when they get a scar because of Fives death, because they turned their backs on him. Also, while Marina & Jobn appear to be headed to couple-dom, I'm not certain how ready Marina is for that...tho she initiated things with John. After all, she's still so tore up a year after the wars end over Eights death that she's driving around a speed boat in the middle of the ocean looking for the misguided guy who killed him. I'd say, not ready to date yet. Sam & Six, they were cute together but, I never penned Six for being an emotional person, I always regarded her as from TPoS, where she liked both John & Sam & felt no guilt about it. I was somewhat surprised that she would consider Sam when she kisses John towards the end, while he's near death.
Ella...I'm sorry, but, I've always found her character annoying. In the extreme. A future predicting know it all in a 10 year olds body...not a good mix.
Sarah & Mark...I felt badly for what happened to Mark, as you read above, I felt his death was a rushed after thought. And I'm not sure how I felt about the comment that at least Mark is "with Sarah now" after he dies. I also didn't like how he blames everyone from Marina to John for her death...tho if Narina had stayed out of the way, she might've saved Sarah, but I digress. Sarah, the one thing I'll never understand is why Sarah didn't develop Legacies, it seemed like a natural progression for her. I guess her past with Mark, where she was less than kind wasn't made up for even though she pulled away from that type of behavior & moved on from it. Kind of like Mark helping the Loric at his own risk, it wasn't enough to get him legacies. So I guess with the entity, your past choices matter. A LOT.
Adam...I hated the fact that he's stuck in a frozen prison camp, even if it's his choice & his motivations are good. I loved his character & I wanted a better future for him than that...I hope eventually he gets it.
All in all, I loved the book, even with all my quibbles about it & after re-reading every book in the series while waiting for the final volume, I'll admit it, I'm a little bereft. For several weeks I lived in this universe, reading it's characters, living with them through success & defeats, going through all the tragedy with them. And, now it's over. I'll miss this series, I've really enjoyed it, Hughes & Frey did a great job on it.
As to the movie being awful, yeah, it was. But the fault lies with the screenplay writers, not the actors. They butchered the book, changing details, writing characters incorrectly, assigning legacies wrong...the list goes on...they made Six have not only invisibility, but they made her fireproof (John's legacy, that's what lumen does & was crucial to his story arc) gave her teleportation, gave her flight? When hers was speed, strength, invisibility & control of the elements. Also, I'll never understand why they had Six talking like some southern-i-fied slutty Mae West. She didn't act that way in the books. They had her little quips make her sound kind of cheap. Such as:
"Red bull is for pu$$ies"
"Your good with your hands"
I could go on...it's really HOW six said these things in the movie & that it was out of character to the book. It's as if they never considered the other characters, that they were handing out their legacies to her. Or Henri, when he died, he disintegrated??? That didn't happen in the books! Only mogs did that. It was changes like this that made the movie fail because it was lost on us readers. The actors did the best with what they had & I also think changing actors for the role of Henri right before filming was a mistake.
I hate this is over. I'll really miss the characters & will always wonder how they will get along in their universes version of Earth. Hope however it is, they're all happy.
5 stars all the way for this final book!!!

This seventh and final book in the Lorien Legacies brings the I am Number Four series to a spectacular close. I have been a fan of this series since the beginning, when I am Number Four released in 2010, and it only gets better.
This final instalment explodes off the page with non-stop action, but also brings resolution and answers a myriad of questions which arise throughout the series. Told from the alternating points of view of Number Four and Number Six, United as One moves seamlessly from one point of view to another, giving the reader an all-round experience of the plot as it unfolds.
In this book, John develops Ximic, yet further proof that he is the Garde member descended from Pittacus Lore. John, who has always been a fan favourite and a firm candidate for the role given his lumen legacy, shows huge character growth in this book and we see a side to him that we haven’t been exposed to before. There is a maturity and quiet confidence about him that was lacking in the previous books, and which is brought about through a heart-wrenching and unexpected loss.
A new Loric is introduced who, in my opinion, doesn’t add much to the plot, but does shed some light on the Garde’s history. The real revelation is exposed through Ella’s newfound ability to connect with Lorien, as we finally learn the full history of Pittacus and Setrakus Ra. Through Ella’s connection, new Garde emerge amongst the humans, which, while hinted at in The Fate of Ten, was a surprising twist. The battle against Earth and the warships are reminiscent of Independence Day, and the unity between the Garde, and mankind is well-written and emotive.
As always, the dynamic humour between Number Nine and Number Five lightens the tone and provides some much-needed comic relief to a nail-biting book that is almost impossible to put down, but be warned: the authors hold no punches in this devastating finale.
Everything about this series is original, down to the collective pseudonym used by the authors James Frey, Greg Boose and, formerly, Jobie Hughes.

United as One was the exciting ending to the Lorien Legacies by Pittacus Lore. After the loss of Sarah, John is more bent on the destruction of Setrakus Ra (and himself) than ever. He recklessly throws himself into fight after fight as he battles his way up to the Glorious Leader. Setrakus Ra is in hiding as he heals from Six's near lethal wound he received at the Sanctuary in Mexico. The remaining Guard and the new human Guard prepare to attack before he can regain his full strength but will a betrayal end them all before they can get that far? Find out in United as One, the final installment of the Lorien Legacies.
I immensely enjoyed United as One. The new Guard characters are entertaining and bring a new level of hope to a dire situation. You feel for John as he deals with the loss of Sarah and as Marina tries to help him despite his own grief. You see this small, supernatural family come together and lift one another up through self-sacrifice and love even when it appears that all is lost.
My one complaint for The Fate of Ten was the amount of profanity used in the book. Despite an equal amount of fighting and stressful situations, the language was dialed down quite a bit--not to say that it was totally eliminated. However, it was noticeably less. Still, parents of younger readers be aware of the mature content and language.
I also felt that the series was brought to a successful conclusion. There were enough loose ends tied off that the story felt complete, but others were left to the readers own imagination and interpretation. I would be interested to see future books written about the new Guard, but the Loric deserve a break from the pain and heartache.
I highly recommend United as One.

united as one is considerably better than the previous two books, although the writing style is still rather plain and boring. the ending of this novel felt too easy having built up six other books to reach the goal. it was a bit unbelievable and unrealistic.
majority of the characters annoyed me and didn't seem like themselves. six, my favourite character, hardly felt like a main character as she hardly did anything. i didn't see the purpose of half the characters as the story primarily follows john/four as he saves the day.
not to mention the introduction of new characters. what was with that? "hey, lets bring in some new characters but forget about them/have them serve no purpose to the plot at all?!" whoever thought that was a good idea really wasn't thinking straight. i would've loved to see these new characters in action and to learn more about the human garde in general. (although i don't like the idea of human garde, the least we could've gotten was some info about it).
i guess i should put at least one good point in this review: i really enjoyed the epilogue. i like how everything was rounded off and finalised. we get to know what the main cast are doing next and what everyone's up to. there are so many books i read where i'm asking "but what are they doing now?", and in united as one, we finally get that answer.
overall, i thought this book sucked as a finale to such an epic series. i wish the last three books had been condensed into one book rather than split up to milk as much $$ as they can. the ideas were spread far too thin to make so many books. but i did like the "one year later" ending, and i'm glad the series is over.

First of, I enjoyed the series a lot. Did not mind the end at all. I just hated how they portrayed number four. The author kept trying to portray him as some great leader, but he kept showing him as making terrible decisions and making situations worse then they already were for himself and the others and everybody just goes along with it. Number five was by far my favorite character because he is the most complex. He was pretty much sidelined at the end and it was not really clear what happened to him. He tried to help the other gurde at the end (even though it was more for self preservation) and nobody acknowledged that. Overall great series and a decent end, but the author clearly made the main hero into of the story into something that isn't that.

So this is the seventh and last book in this series. Will John, also known as Number Four, and his Loric Garde pals and human friends and the governments of the earth be able to save the earth from the creepy and evil Setrakus Ra, leader of the Mogadorians? If so, how many of the good guys will survive? Action, fighting and bloodshed abound in this excellent final book to an excellent and fun to read science fiction series.

Im sorry, but after reading a great series with such a long buildup for killing Setrakus Ra, the ending was really anticlimactic in my opinion. Honestly its a decent book, but after how long its taken to write and get the whole series out, it just...turned out kind of disappointing. I was hoping for more action, more deaths maybe? It was a good book, dont get me wrong, but...i dont know. I wasn't satisfied at the end. There were good parts, but it was a lot of talk and not enough action.

A very satisfying ending to the I Am Number Four series. This final installment was not as action-packed as most of the others in the series, but gave the story the ending it deserved. As with all the previous installments, it held my interest and made me want to keep reading to find out what would happen. However, the authors left it open for future installments so maybe there will be another novel (or more) some day. You gotta love a series that holds your interest and delivers a good ending.

It was worth the wait!!!! Loved the ending of this series so sad it is over, though. Would love to continue the adventure with these characters. Even though Sam and Six are an unlikely couple but they work very well. I still miss eight and was hoping he might come back in this one but sadly that did not happen. It was cool to see how all the characters evolved throughout this series, Even Mark who started out bad but ending up being useful.

How can you finish a story like this that has been so long in the making? How do you do justice to the characters that have been developed?
This was a good ending to the saga. I will miss my friends. I will miss being emerged in their world. I am sad it is over. What will the survivors do?
I was glad that we got a glimpse of what is after. I truly enjoyed this series. The space it has had in my life will be difficult to fill.

Great ending to a great series. Only 4 stars instead of 5 because I felt like the epilogue was lacking something. The final battle and everything following just got kind of vague for me for the rest of the series having been so very detailed.

I picked up "I Am Number Four" after reading the "Divergent" series. I was hooked. I'm very pleased with how they wrapped up this story. And I've also read all of the novellas and journals. Good job, Pittacus Lore!

I loved the first 6 books in this series. This last book was NOT what i was hoping for however. Everything was too predictable, the fights were boring, even the last battle against setrakus ra was boring. However, I did love this series overall, and this book was still ok ,which is why i am rating this book 3 stars

The story was well constructed and an easy read, and while I can certainly see some complaints others have stated about the ending feeling incomplete or rushed, I am perfectly fine with it, however, while this book is a good "popcorn flick" style book, its not without its problems.
SPOILERS AHEAD
Firstly, I have a bit of a problem that the Fate of Ten introduces the concept of human Gardes and yet does literally nothing with it. The story has four of the human Gardes found and brought to the headquarters and two of them get killed in short order, and when it comes to the final battle, they are all left behind, even Danielle. Sam tags along but isn't involved in the last fight and it just feels like the story had this big build up for a true war, Garde vs. Mogs, then does nothing with it.
Secondly, two POV chapters, John and Six. Now I'm not faulting the use of these characters as the POV central characters, but no POVs from Marina, or Ella or anyone else who have had previous chapters before. I'd have loved to have seen some of Marina's point of view, or Ella, they both went through quite a lot, I'd have loved to have seen more from them.
Thirdly, Nine was relegated to the status of extra. Hell, even Five had more action than Nine did, and he spent most of the book locked up. Nine is one of my favorite characters because while he acts tough, he deeply cares about Earth, his friends and his mission, and yet he received zero point of view chapters through the main storyline (I'm not counting the Lost Legacies), has arguably the weakest legacies of any Garde and has been constantly diminished in levels of importance as the story has progressed. I get that John had to be made more epic and badass, but there was still plenty of room for Nine to still be as uber as he's been in the past. I imagine they'll replace his arm with a cybernetic at some point, seeing as how the new Elders will likely live for 1,000 years like the old ones did, if they die at all, technology will still catch up, but I think his constant lack of value to the series just hurt his character as a whole.
Now, I was never really a fan of Sarah, I felt she was a character who couldn't have lived even if she didn't die last book, not because she was keeping John back or anything, but she just wasn't interesting. One of my big problems with this series is that the author didn't seem to know what to do with the character of Sarah. Book 1, she starts dating John and they're crazy about each other, book 2, she betrays John, book 3, oops, it was all a misunderstanding, it was really Sepekus Ra (it's spelled wrong, I know), then she goes from being a fragile little hostage to becoming a badass warrior woman, seriously, when did she learn to use a blaster?, book 4, she's basically a wall decoration, book 5, she separates from John, book 6, she goes to help Six and the others and dies. Consistency with her character is horribly lacking. I think with the reality that she was never given legacies and that only Garde could have children, if I remember the vision correctly, that she and John would never have a long life together, she would grow old while he would out live her by several centuries.
Now for the ending. Honestly, I rather enjoyed the ending, I found it bittersweet and while most of the main characters had a happy life, that didn't work out for everyone, particularly Five, Adam and Karen Walker. Still, I had a feeling John and Marina would start something way back when Eight died. It just made sense, and truthfully, their moments together, talking about the loss of Eight and Sarah respectively, and the very end when they go to the cave and share a kiss were some of my favorite moments in the story. The last scene, while not as emotionally powerful as the scene in the med lab, capped the series off perfectly. Here you have two people who represent the world the most, John, the strong yet emotionally brittle leader who sacrificed everything to ensure everyone survived, and Marina, the moral compass who lost her way and struggled to regain her identity. The end represents both of these characters, still grieving for their lost, both uncertain what the future, and to a bigger extent, the world, has for either of them, and they are clouded with uncertainty. Everyone else has moved on with their lives but these two, and its in that realization that they understand they need each other, strength and compassion. In a moment of emotion, Marina kisses John a rather poignant hint of uncertainty, but also hope that maybe they can find happiness. The future is uncertain for these two, much as the future for the world is, because now knowing there are literally thousands of super powered beings that can take out armies, nations will try to exploit that, so a future of safety and security is uncertain, much like John and Marina's lives. I like to think that while they will never forget their first loves, they are exactly who each other needs right now. John erasing the drawings from the cave walls, Ella refusing to see into the future any more, its all a vital message that all we can ever hope to do is our best and as Marina says, have faith in what comes "after". This ending couldn't have made that message any better, which is why I think it worked for this series.
Still would have loved other POV chapters, but I enjoyed this series and wouldn't mind seeing more in the series.

I also, like many love this series and this book. I finished rather quickly and it finished with a feeling of emptiness, not clarification or complete satisfaction.
