Love Lehane, his writing is awesome and the plot is twisted enough I had to reread a few times to get what I missed in the first reading. I have all his books now, I'm such a huge fan. Love his characters.

Patrick Kenzie is my new favorite detective. A well written book that's plotted well and filled with interesting characters. You are rooting all the way through for Patrick and Angela as they encounter the bad guys.

This is the second of the Kenzie / Gennaro series, and the action picks up markedly. Kenzie's relationship with Gennaro becomes solidified and stands a serious test. The environs almost become a character here also. Plot is a bit more predictable, but the writing kept me focused.

Classic Lehane.............. another really solid Gennaro/Kenzie journey. Finally using a kindle......... dunno if this is because the book is on a kindle, but there were SOOOOOO many typos! Was actually kind of distracting.........

Lehane is able place the reader in the neighborhood I grew up in. I can see the streets, stores, and other buildings that he is writing about even if he change their names. Great reading and makes you not want to put the kindle down until you have finished the book..

This book was true Dennis Lehane style, kept you guessing until the end. I did not realize that this was the second book of a series, but that did not deter from the story and having not read the first one, it did not diminish this story. Overall, really good read. Looking forward to checking out the other books in this series.

Once again the adventures of Patrick snd Angie, PI's of note, kept me reading well into the night. Unfortunately I have read some of the six books in the series out of sequence before I realised that they follow a specific order. So my advise is to read them in order. They are full of action, not for the faint-hearted as some scenes are quite violent, and the characters are just marvelous.

Great book. Dennis Lehane gives a real feel for Boston and it's neighborhoods. He tells a beautifully written story with great character development. If you like a tight story line with great tension and fully developed characters, I think you will enjoy, this book

This is my second Dennis Lehane book. I am planning on ordering another as soon as I am done with this review. Most suspense novels with romantic partners tend to be cheesy and clique filled. This was well written, compelling and downright frightening.

Sucks you into a vivid world of characters who stay with you between chapters. Patrick Kenzie at his strongest and most human. Twists and turns and depth of historical perspective. Thank you Denis Lehane! More more more please.

Good idea and the dialog is very well written, but the story was too unbelieveable and too complicated. Characters can't be just eccentric, insane or cruel...they have to be the most eccentric, the most insane and the most cruel people you could ever meet. Not the type of detective story I enjoy as this book relies on major omissions, revelations and blunders by main characters and not clues to move the story along. The main character, a detective by trade, learns that 20 years ago two individuals are found in a warehouse with traces of white makeup in their scalps. This detective wonders about this? Later in the book, his long-time friend, some sort of interior decorator, reminds him that around the same time two clowns in a van tried to abduct them....Oh, I forgot about that...do you think there's a connection? That's so ridiculous it makes you forget about the ridiculousness of two men in an unmarked van dressed up in full clown gear with in intent to abduct children and escape notice. I'd like to buy another of Dennis Lahane's books, but it would have to be at a much lower price. The writter has the talent, but he should get a better editor. The mystery is in the unknowns not the complexity. Seedy, gritty and character flaws are good. You have the gift to make it happen.

Tough, gritty, compassionate...Patrick and Angela hit the highest marks again. Reading Lehane reminds me, that there are those who cherish all the children in our world...and that he too has anger for all the abusers. His books have plot, action and great characters, but mostly they make me feel.
