I could see this maybe being helpful for someone completely new to Buddhism as a starting point to get familiar with the vocabulary of Buddhism, but I found the content and presentation style to be a bit odd. In some places it seems like the rich storytelling tradition behind Buddhism gets flattened into single sentences. The story of the life of Siddhārtha Gautama (of which countless volumes have been written) gets condensed into literally half an awkward paragraph. In other places the author does a deep dive without any context or explanation. For example, the (super brief) discussion of Theravada Buddhism includes a long list of the seven stages of purification with no explanation beyond listing them out. Is this really what a beginner should be focusing on?

In this I was hoping for a quick refresher of Buddhist basics but instead got a laundry list of things to look up online.

This book provides a good overview of Buddhism for those new to its teachings. As the book points out, there are some aspects of Buddhist practices, such as meditation and empathy, which can be beneficial for people of any religion or spiritual background.

This is great book to help you understand the basics of Buddhism. Plus it provides great information on the different types of schools. Plus it's an easy read! I finished this within a couple of days and also took away some information from it and bookmarked some things. Highly recommend!

This is a great introductory to Buddhism; it answered a lot of my questions about Buddhism in which I had a lot of misconceptions. This has sparked my curiosity to venture further into its practices. The book did exactly what it was intended to do; serve as a light introduction into the vast philosophy of Buddhism.

I would recommend this book to anyone needing a peace of mind, and need to structure in their daily life. I am a trainer and I use little excerpts from this book to help my learners stay focus. The information in this book builds on what I already know, but helps me to uncluttered my mind. Thank you Mr. Michael Williams for this lovely book.

I enjoyed the easy to understand concept along with the use of examples. I've been wanting to learn more about Buddhism but was too lazy and scared. I feel much more comfortable now and looking forward to my new journey.
