I enjoyed the story, just would of liked more suspense. Howie went frowned g a young boy to a grown man in a blink of a eye, life certainly had more interesting things and how he dealt with them. Including his fear of the unknown, and evil following him.

I am not yet finished reading Darkness Under the Sun. I am not sure if I will finish. Dean is an excellent author, and I have read every book he has written thus far. However I find myself becoming bored with the "descriptions" of surroundings. Instead of simply stating in a colorful manner, that, for insistence "It sure was a scorcher outside" (which brings to mind all kinds of images) he would in detail describe for you every bead of sweat imaginable. I was bored with the frosting, and wanted to get into the gooey center. It was almost if he were in middle school and the teacher told him to write a 5,000 word essay and he was 250 words short so he just went into TOO much detail for me to fill the quota. I may change my rating, after I have actually given myself time to go thru the detailed weather report, the realtors description of the bathroom. Still love you Dean, and will continue to wait for your next books!

I really enjoyed this novella. I have been greatly disappointed by Dean Koontz' last few books, but this one and the follow-up, What the Night Knows, are really good. Darkness Under the Sun is a stand alone story, filled with creepy and likable characters. This is horror.

Normally I love Dean Koontz material, but this fell way short of my expectations. Maybe it's just that it was too short??? Perhaps if it had been expanded into a full sized novel, it would have been worth reading. He certainly had a good idea in the storyline - just didn't expand enough on it.

Certainly meets the definition of Kindle Single (NOVELLA)
It was worth the price for me. It was very creepy! This
is a fast read. I liked it but Dean Koontz is one of my
favorite authors. So if you like Dean Koontz you will
like this (novella)!

Shipping was fast, package was in great shape. This was supposed to be a full, unabridged book. It was only one cd. Just a few chapters. The story was great.. however it ended after just a few chapters.. Where's the rest of the book?

I haven't read Koontz for a little while, atleast not his newer stuff. Through this novella, it seems that he's leaning back a little into his old style of writing. I didn't expect to particularly like it, but wanted to atleast give it a try. It's short and cheap. I am SO happy I did. I love the storyline and am now hooked on buying the full book once it comes out. I'm usually an 'easy horror reader', I can read something, turn off the lights and go to bed willy-nilly. I finished this novella very quickly and started to go to bed, and realized I couldn't walk down the dark hallway to my bedroom. I had to turn on lights as I went, going back and turning them off after another one was on. This truly gave me (not necessarily the creeps) but something 'bad' was going on!!

Don't waste your time reading this book. Sorry Dean, but you really let me down on this one! I kept waiting for a story, but it never materialized. Don't be in such a rush to kick the stories out.

Like all of Koontz's books of late, his characters are predictably, boringly PERFECT. He has lost all touch with his original following. As his fortunes grew with the success of his books, his main characters became, ALL OF THEM, so damned talented and perfect that they bore you to tears. Thier lives became so priveledged and pampered as to make his writing nearly unreadable, and lets not forget the irrepressible and hideously inevitable yuppie acoutrament, the stupid golden retrievers EVERYBODY owns in his books anymore, simply because ha has owned them. Its so boring and predictable it splits my my head open to read what used to be one of my favorite authors. Just saying, Dean. Oh, by the by, quit trying to show us you have a large vocabulary with all of the stupid big words you have started to use with an irritating, frustrating regularity, people don't talk like that every day you know. Ya ya ya, we get it, you're the guy everybody hates to talk to because you constantly have to show us all how many unrecognizable words you can use in a single sentence.

I really enjoyed this book, & did not want it to end.I love Alton Blackwood, tho some would call me crazy. Reading What the Night Knows takes you to the beginning of Blackwood, & understanding his way of life. One can't help but have pity on this man.The Raven is the beautiful yet eery touch. Loved it totally, & I would love to see Koontz bring Blackwood back. One can only hope. PLEASE, bring him back!
