Classic Holmes and classic back-story, especially considering when it was written, and how it must have brought a bit of "exotic" American ambiance to British readers. The denouement in the Valley of Fear was one of the most thrilling moments in Doyle's stories-- as a young adolescent, I loved it!

Not the best Sherlock. First third features the detective in action but the remainder of the novella reads like dime fiction and it doesn't take a detective to figure out what is going on very quickly.

THE BEST Sherlock Holmes book yet . This definitely is a big mystery that you will not understand until the end. I highly suggest that you read this book if you like mystery, drama, and,
excitement.

The CD arrived in excellent conditons and promptly. The merchandise is not worth the money. Too much of the original story is missing in the interest of cramming it in one CD. Will leave you with a lot of questions on how did sherlock homes arrived at his results. Your imagination will not be enough to fill out the gaps in the narrative.

Timson is an able interpreter of these beloved tales. Each character has individuality and the overall tone is faithful to Conan Doyle. The musical interludes are used sparingly and effectivley lending a heightened sense of atmosphere. Naxos is to be commended for putting the entire Holmes canon before an admiring public in these fine new editions.
