Great story. Couldn't help but cry through their angst. Maybe because I'm a Catholic school girl myself I could really sympathize with Baker and Hannah. I really hope teachers like Ms. Carpenter exist in real life- I maybe could have used someone like her back in the day. It was a sweet story, perhaps a little unbelievable at times but I like that- sappy at heart! Read the entire thing in one day and it was worth it. Keep writing Ms. Quindlen

Great book, the way the author describes the feelings of the main character is amazing. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars, it's because the ending was solved to fast, all the book is written describing a lot of details and the ending wasn't wrote with that amount of care, but in the end it is a really good book.

I stayed up all night reading this book. I really connected with ths book. How I met my wife and the feelings we had were very similar. I think really anyone can relate to a story like this, though. I went through the spectrum of emotions reading this book. The characters were well developed. I liked the end message. Just a really good read.

There are so many Young Adult novels out there, but it's extremely difficult to find one featuring an LGBT relationship. Her Name in the Sky not only lived up to my expectations but exceeded them. Quindlin doesn't focus solely on romantic relationships, but develops the friendships and familial relationships as well. This book gives an incredibly accurate representation of what it's like coming out in the Bible Belt South. I would recommend this book to anyone.

One of the best books about coming out and religion. It explores the depths of human emotions and how faith can help or hurt those around you. You will fall in love with the story and all the characters.

This is the most emotional and heartbreaking/heartwarming books I've ever read. Maybe mostly because I can relate a lot to Hannah throughout the book. I cried (a lot) and laughed and didn't want to put it down.
I'd recommend this book for young adults struggling with homosexuality and having a firm Catholic belief, it really helps clear everything up. And getting a very helpful perspective toward the end from Ms. Carpenter.

Beautifully written story. The characters are complex and realistic and their struggles are all too familiar for some of us. It does address religion in an interesting, if not overt way. The allusions start out subtly and are beautiful, but then become overt and a little heavy handed. Regardless, the story is affirming of the redemptive power of love ( whether from God, family or oneself).

I don't typically read YA material, but this book was just so beautiful and emotional. The innocence of the main characters and their courage and vulnerability really resonated with me. I laughed and cried and didn't want it to be over. I fully recommend HNITS.

This book hits on so many aspects of high school behavior includng one of the most difficult, coming out. Wonderful gripping story about two best friends so in love that it is tearing them apart. I highly recommend this book..

So powerful, so heartbreakingly beautiful. The writing style is lush, if done less skillfully it would have been overwritten. But it works, fitting the rich Louisiana climate. This is everything I've wanted so long to say about the Catholic faith, and learning to "love one another" in a changing world.

This book takes you back into the time of falling in love for the first time. It gets down to heart of struggling with who you are especially when you've been told all of your life that who you might be isn't "right."

For taking me into an amazing roller coaster of emotions and taking me back to remember my 17 year old self, I wanna congratulate and thank Kelly Quindlen for creating such a powerful story. After reading "Her name in the sky" I will never see Love the same way again. You've gained a loyal fan Ms. Quindlen.

What sets this book apart from others in the genre is the writing. There's more depth to the traditional coming out story here with attention paid to the literary aspects of storytelling. The author does a great job re-creating the feeling of that intense first love.
