Such a great book …! I am quite old .. .I LOVED it … for it's drawings, sly humor and wonderfully surprising tale … and continue to give it to friends of ALL ages. I have a quirky great grand daughter … she's 10 .. and prone to fabrications: this book was a wonderful gift -- it amused her, came with great affection, and opened a quiet lesson to consider brilliantly.

The illustrations and the very simple dialogue between the bear (who looking for its hat) and the other animals make for a rather entertaining story. High-contrast illustrations are very attractive for little ones. Also, my husband thought the ending was very funny, so he loves to read this book to our daughter

This is such a wonderful book. The pictures are great and the animals are so cute. My grandkids are 4 and 6 and they want me to read it everyday. They know ahead what is going to happen and can almost tell the book to me. I was so glad that I just took a chance to buy this. Great Book and easy to read and understand.

These books are for my 2 year old grand-daughter. She loves books and after readying the reviews from previous owners, I decided to purchase these for her and I'm happy I did. She enjoys them and you know she does when she brings the books back to be read over and over again that they were a good choice!

This book has everything you need for children: thievery and murder. What more can I say? Instant classic. The illustrations are flawless and convey so much emotion that words are not needed on many of the pages. Well done!

A cute, easy read. When the bear figures out who took his hat, he takes matters into his own hands. My two-year old doesn't get it, but my four-year old thinks it's silly. A cute book and a nice change from all of the predictably-PC endings found in most children's books.

This is a unique story! This book makes my husband and I chuckle whenever we read it and adults may appreciate its humor as well. I've also read it to my kindergarten class, and while they may not have understood the darker subtext they enjoyed the story and were able to comprehend the chain of events.

I actually got this for my girlfriend on her 23rd birthday and she loved it. I would have no problem reading this to my kids (if I had any). I'm not a fan of the politically correct drivel children are being fed nowadays so this is a refreshing change.

This is a great book with an unexpected twist that wrings true in the animal kingdom- well except the accessorizing. My tyke loves to have different folks read this book to him, because each reader does it so differently.

We were first introduced to Jon Klassen as the illustrator in Extra Yarn (really unique story with beautiful illustrations). When we discovered "I want my hat back." we knew we had a new favorite. The drawings are tremendous and the story is highly entertaining for adults as well as children.

Amazingly, this is even better than Klassen's "This is Not My Hat," which deservedly won the Caldecott in 2013. I busted up laughing when I read this in the store and still enjoy it even more than my kids do—and they bring it to me often. The humor is just a touch macabre, but this is the rare book that will make adults chuckle as often as kids.
