This is a completely delightful book and I know the 4-yr old giftee will love it. Humorous, wonderfully illustrated and with twists that surprised this oldster! I've been buying the store 5-star-rated picture books for many Christmases and have never been so happy with a selection as today. Also, the video of how to draw a moose is a stitch, don't miss it!

It's a neat story with cute illustrations. I bought it to read to my son's kindergarten class, but it's a little too old for them. Has some "big" words and themes over their heads. But still a good book. Great for maybe 7-8 yrs?

Bestselling author and illustrator Oliver Jeffers, well-known for 'Lost and Found' and other children's colorful picture books, delivers another delightful story about a young boy and his moose. Wilfred is a geek, who is obsessed with rules, and he expects Marcel to obey his every command. Marcel the moose wants independence, and is unaware that he belongs to anyone. Wilfred struggles to teach Marcel what to do, and what not to do as they venture up-and-down mountain ranges and other interesting locations. Wilfred is small, Marcel is very big, and they just don't have much in common. Their journey together as they become friends is a hilarious, fun-filled adventure. Where did Marcel come from, did he have another owner? What will Marcel do for apples? Does the moose listen to the rules, and will they compromise? Young children will laugh-out-loud as they read the story, while glancing at the funny illustrations that come to life. Who is Rodrigo, and will Marcel become a special pet? The story is easy-to-read, and the characters are adorable. Children who love pets and nature will cherish 'This Moose Belongs To Me.' Highly recommended for young readers, teachers, and parents. The funny story is enjoyable ,educational, and entertaining!

I bought this book to read to my granddaughter who loves books and is very clever. She loves to get the most out of a story. Unfortunately, this story was a little disjointed and didn't come together to deliver a message for her. I was disappointed and sorry I bought this book when there are so many really good books out there. It just did not deliver and I would not recommend it for children of any age.

I'm so glad my teacher friend -- a reading specialist for elementary school for 40 years -- introduced me to Oliver Jeffers and this book. I love mooses (?) and petted a friend's moose in the Yukon when I taught school there. But this moose -- Marcel Rodrigo Dominic -- is so well captured in colors and words that I'm ready to go back to the Yukon and see if I can find my own moose! Well, there's a most poignant lesson to be learned in "owning" any wild creature. Like me, I think you'll love it.

As for this book and its amazing qualities, I'll direct you to the two editorial reviews from BOOKLIST and SCHOOL LIBRARY JOURNAL. What they say is the truth, in my view, of this book.

This book has Oliver Jeffers charm and humor. If you enjoy his books, you will smile at this one about a little boy who believes that he owns a moose. He names him Marcel and attempts to give him rules on how to be a good pet. You can probably guess there might be problems with having a pet moose... =)

Fun book, and funny. Great pictures and original story, as expected from Oliver Jeffers. I don't think my kids when they were younger (3-6) understood the message of the book, which was that no one really OWNS the moose, but they thoroughly enjoyed it anyway.

The way the moose in particular and illustrations as a whole are drawn/painted, and the subtle humor of why the moose does what it does vs. what Wilfred thinks is motivating it, make this book so gosh-darn charming that I could read it every day.

My brother-in-law shared this book with our children as his own children love it. The story is funny and well-written, and the plot is terrific. The illustrations are lovely as well. I plan to purchase other books by this author.

I bought this for my kindle paperwhite, only to find that it is not compatible with this device. It's also not compatible with my laptop or with my computer. Hunh??!!
I've returned it for a refund, but am very disappointed.
I've only just recently purchased my kindle, and got the paperwhite because it seems the newest best option for reading. How can it not support a new children's book?

My husband and I and our 2 boys (age 6 and 8) love all that Oliver Jeffers has written. Wish we could enjoy this on our kindle while travelling.

We were just given this book. Since, it was about a Moose and by the Lost and Found author we were excited to read it.
It was horrible and not funny.
The rules are terrible. Why would a boy control a wild animal?
It did remind us of the family that gave us the book - go figure.
Our 3 year old was especially scared of the page where Wilbur is lost and the author notes: the monsters will come out soon.
Just horrible and deemed for the garbage.
Dragons love tacos was such a better book!
