Maid of Fairbourne Hall, The. I enjoyed this book because I love to read about England in the 1500. The different characters in the families are some time so different from each other. Makes you wonder how they fit with family they are in.

Once you get over the improbability of the entire situation, this is a great story with plenty of interesting historical tidbits and engaging characters. Klassen's storytelling is exquisite, getting over the plot improbability was painless and nearly instantaneous.

I have enjoyed reading Julie Klassen. I very much appreciate quality writing without all the inappropriate language and smut. If you are looking for good clean writing, read everything you can by Klassen.

After reading all of Julie Klassen's books, I pre-purchase "The Maid of Fairbourne Hall" an eagerly waited several weeks for its release. I am happy to say it did not disappoint! I find Ms. Klassen's works a bit hard to get into, but sticking with the story past the first few chapters delivers rich reward indeed! This book was no different. Her depiction of life as a British serving maid in the 1800's was enthralling and the premise of a noble heiress hiding in"plain sight" handled with humor and grace. My only complaint is that I would love to have read an epilogue! Can't wait for the next offering from this very gifted authoress!

What a great read!!! SO clean and innocent and sweet. I loved that it was a safe read as well. I do wish a little more had been added to the ending but I have to give five stars for any book that I can't put down and this one was the best I've read in a long long time!

Even though I felt the writing was predictable, it still surprised me several times and never got boring even when I guessed what was coming. Loved her characters and the insight into the life of servers.

An enjoyable read with many plot twists, romance, great characters and detailed descriptions of a charming era and life. Have read most of Ms Klaussen's books and have never been dissappointed. Thank you and soooo looking forward to your next.

While "The Maid of Fairboune Hall" is well written, I often thought I was reading "Upstairs, Downstairs". The first 25% of the book goes on and on about the life of house servants. We learn about how they find employment, how they dress, what they eat, all the types of brushes they use etc. The hero and heroine don't even have a conversation until 1/4 into the book, and then it's in the form of a flashback. While I liked the heroine, Margaret, and thought she grew nicely as a character, I had a much harder time coming around to Nathaniel. He always seems a bit awkward and a bit of a victim within his family. His early proposal to the heroine borders on clueless and pathetic. I don't believe two years toughing it out running a sugar plantation changed him all that much. The villains are rather cookie-cutter predictable and they don't even get their comeuppance. I agree with others the ending is like "Huh?!". There is no payoff for all the drama leading up to the conclusion. Sorry, I can't recommend TMoFH and I'm off to read something written by Courtney Milan, Carla Kelly or Julia Anne Long.

Julie Klassen's Maid of Fairbourne Hall is a truely enjoyable read. Not at all preachy but still very clean. I could not put it down and the only fault I can find with the book is that it ended. I look forward to Julie's next book.

I love a good victorian romance. It is interesting to read about the different classes of people
during that time period, and to see how they interact with each other. It is easy to see Julie Klassen
loves the history and has done her research well.

I really liked this book. A lot of Christian books are preachy, but this one wasn't at all. I appreciated that. It was just a fun romance novel. It was predictable, as most romance novels, but I was sucked in by the characters. Definitely one to read.

Each chapter kept my interest and I was always looking forward to reading again. Learning about maid servants was interesting since I'm into watching Downton Abbey. I plan on ordering another book by this author

Thank you for sharing scripture and morality in your writings!

This book was pleasant and a quick enjoyable read. Perfect for bedtime, nothing graphic, just a innocent, sweet story. My only complaint is the abrupt somewhat unsatisfying ending. You know what is coming and are really looking forward to it, then in two sentences it is over.

This book hooked me right from the start and kept my interest throughout. Julie Klassen is an excellent writer. I have read all her previous books and am now reading Girl in the Gatehouse. I highly recommend all her books.

Enjoyed learning the rolls of the various servants and positions in the running of an estate. It was a message of learning humility, forgiveness and grace. If you like British history you would like this book.
