Vulgar. I have enjoyed reading Julie Klassen books and even let my teenage daughter read them. I enjoyed the fact her books have great story lines and they were clean so that I was not worried about what my daughter read. This book made me blush. Just because you throw God in the story does NOT make it okay to throw sex scenes in. Yes, God is a God of forgiveness but I believe all the "details" of the sins could have been left out.
Very disappointed even in this particular story line it read like a soap opera....... this particular book made me wish I had never read it.

Oh My Goodness! What an incredible book! Great plot development and twist. All of Julie Klassen's books are winners and this one is no exception. It has been a couple of months since I read it so I do not recall how the story was narrated, but it was a captivating story that was intriguing and thrilling and took me away from my daily stress. Exactly what I expect from Ms. Klassen!

As always Julie has great characters. A great story. Well written. I could gush over her all day. This story has so many twists and turns I thought I would get whiplash. I loved every minute of this book. It's fast paced and a pure joy to read. Another great book by Julie Klassen. I promise you will not be disappointed. Buckle up dear readers it's a bumpy ride.

Loved this book! A great escape! I thoroughly enjoy Klassen's writing and this one is defiantly one of her best. Great plot with unexpected turns. Even though I say "scandalous", if you have ever read one of her books, you know I say that light-heartedly.

My only complaint (which is trivial) is that because Klassen went with a different publishing company for this book than all the others, the actual book is a different size and now looks odd next to her other 8 books on my bookshelf. But am just picky like that...I have liked how uniformly they have sat on my book shelf...until now.

Another good read from Julie Klassen! I was surprised by the twists and turns of this story and didn't want to put it down. It's reminiscent of Jane Eyre , but also unique to Julie Klassen. Fans of regency Era and historical romance will find another winner here.

I am disappointed in one of my favorite authors of "Christian" fiction. In this book, she gives too much description of a sex scene, and to much sexual description elsewhere. In addition, the story is lacking in plot. I am interested to see that the publisher was not Bethany House, a Christian publishing company, which published a number of her other books. To be honest, I am glad to see that Bethany House did not publish this. It does not qualify for what I would expect in Christian fiction. The entire sex scene that caused me to stop reading and come here to make a review could have been eliminated, and the story could have continued. It was completely unnecessary. In the future, before purchasing one of her books, I may do research into the publisher of the book and actually certain searches for words available on the store with the look inside feature. I cannot recommend this book.

The immorality, however, was highly overdone. By the middle of the book I was more than tired of reading about infidility. The details of the night of the encounter between Hannah and Sir John were totally unnecessary, just as the details of the rape in Lady of Milkweed Manor were unnecessary. The hand on the breast, massaging of the leg, and expressed sensual desires were not appealing. However, I did like how the heroine figured out the outstanding qualities of kindness and forgiveness that Sir John possessed which they both shared. I also felt that Sir John's defense of the defendant was excellent. I still love Julie Klassen's writing talent, but hope she will steer clear of intimate details in her future novels.

This book was a surprise. Every time I thought I knew what was happening I didn't. There were so many twists and turns and I was surprised and I like it! I recommend this book. And I plan to re-read it. That's how I judge a good book, if I immediately want to re-read it.

The Maid at Fairbourne Hall remained my favorite Klassen novel through all of my readings of her exceptional work until The Secret of Pembroke Park. However, this novel, Lady Maybe is even better. The characters are complex in their situations, mysteries, personalities and morality. The rich settings, characters and plot invite the reader in and does not let her go until the story is completely told. I couldn't stop until I had finished. Well done Ms. Klassen, I LOVED it!!!

Overall this was a good book. I liked the characters and the interaction between them. The only thing that disturbed me was a little too much "physical" detail between Sir John and Hannah. I do recommend this book, but wanted the prospective readers to know the content may be too intimate for their taste.

First I must confess, and regret, having read other reviews on this work prior to reading it myself. I took them at face value and almost missed reading this excellent novel. I was disturbed by accusations of "nearly graphic romantic interludes". Pshaw! As a confirmed reader of only Christian/inspirational fiction, I wasn't sure I was prepared for this kind of writing. Silly me, to allow myself to be swayed by the opinions of strangers. After discussing the reviews with friends who I knew were also Klassen fans, I decided to give it another go. What a great read! Different from other books by this author, but just as fulfilling and uplifting. If you have been hesitant, I encourage you to dig in and dig deep.

This book kept me guessing the whole way. It kept me emotionally involved with the characters and intrigued as the plot developed. Some I loved and some I despised but in no way was I indifferent. Just so you know.......I loved this book.!!!!!

Julie Klassen is one of my favorite Christian authors but this book is appropriately named as a maybe. This is not one of my favorites of Klassen's, but it is a good story about the challenges of lying, making mistakes, and forgiveness.

Wonderful book! What I love most about Julie Klassen's books are that her characters are not perfect, they make mistakes. But even though they make mistakes, God still forgives and works in their lives to redeem their mistakes and make good come out of it.

This is Klassen's best book thus far. The characters are believable and well developed. I loved the plot twists and their resolutions. Klassen's books get better all the time. I look forward to the next.

I have loved Julie Klassen since I first stumbled upon The Apothecary's Daughter in 2011. I've read all of her books and couldn't wait for Lady Maybe to debut. It did not disappoint.

Lady Maybe feels like Klassen's most mature story. The characters are dealing with issues heavier than even those in Lady of Milkweed Manor. And her skill at crafting a world that is both believable and full of suspense has only gotten better. Character development, plot, and pacing are all right on point with Lady Maybe and I would recommend it again and again.

Wow! So many twists and turns! This book will surprise you and keep you in suspense. I always lose sleep and/or productivity when I read a Julie Klassen book. One of the best books I have read all year. Wonderful characters, incredible suspense. This is why Julie is an award winner. This book is totally worth the time and money

I love Julie Klassen ' s books but was very disappointed in this one. It relied on racy, sensual themes rather than the subtle romance of Jane Austen ' s writing. I hope Mrs.Klassen will return to more wholesome story lines in the future.
