The book itself was okay, found myself skipping over the parts where someone tried to catch her up on some ancient history to which she was unaware. It felt a bit fictional and not "real world" that she was attacked at 1 then 2 and of course 3 social functions but yet she kept going to them. Not to mention she is supposedly the harbinger of death and damnation but no one seemed to take it seriously letting her go about her everyday life just lalala and let's just see what happens. At the point of the predictable 3 attack on her life I was rolling my eyes....like yeah "I certainly didn't see that coming..."

Invidious picks up where Inception left off, and like the first time around, had me hooked from the get go. I could not put this book down for the life of me. And when I did, all I could think about was picking it back up. I had to know what was going to happen next. With more twists and turns, conspiracies, prophecies, trying to figure out whom you can trust and whom you can’t, along with Jemma’s evolving relationships with Trace and Dominic, let’s just say, I got no sleep. And that ending, Ahhhh, it had me rushing out to buy the next book in the series.

I found Invidious to be entertaining, I like Trace and Dominic is becoming more interesting and saw some growth. We got to learn a little more about whom and what Jemma is and we saw the story move forward. We did end on another cliff hanger that was a bit on the bad side.

In this book it really is Trace that made the story enjoyable, he really carries things and makes me want to know what is going to happen. Trace is probably the most mature and down to earth person in the story, this is including the adults that we didn’t see much of in this installment. Dominic is still a really bad boy but he’s looking like he might not be as bad as people think and may turn out to be a valuable asset to Jemma’s crew.

While I like the general story I’m having a harder time liking Jemma, I kinda want to knock some sense into her; she had a few tstl moments in this book. Jemma is also flirting with being a special snowflake... One thing that drives me crazy with the YA genre is the lack of adult involvement some authors strive for; this book had a serious lack of adult involvement. These teens can run around at all hours with no one missing them, get injured and no one seems to notice, and make lame excuses that just get glazed over. Our bad boy immortal who is an adult really let common sense slide when it came to Jemma going up against Engel. When Taylor is returned it seemed that we ignored issues that would pop up when someone has been missing for over a week, there certainly would be a ton of police involvement even if she lost her memory.

It’s these issues in the story arcs that have me only giving the story 3 stars; I'll probably read the next book. This is a YA novel, the violence was not very graphic and while you have teens angsting about sex they so far haven’t got there yet.

My sister recommended this book to me, i read the first one in a day and half and second one same. The books are great, yes its a YA novel which you cant expect teenagers or late teenagers to act mature and not much involvement of parents because its not really about them and etc. However, it was very well put together. The first two books seemed to be taking it slow as i assume the author will have many more to finish the series and put together any "missing information" in other books. Jemma's uncle and Trace's dad i feel like there's much more to it all, the whole soulmate thing between Trace and Jemma, Taylor's disappearance, what happened when she was taken, and why did her family decide to throw a party for her instead of figure out what happened. Were they compelled or threaten to forget about it all and move on? Trace is amazing, just love him. Dominic is funny and a bad boy he has a perfect role. Nikki i hate so much and i hope she gets killed off or something, just hate her. I love the book and i am sure the author will get into more detail later on.... I DO HOPE that Trace and Jemma end up together, married maybe have a baby or something, but i just want them together forever :) as i am sure everyone else does. Jemma needs to stop lying as well, grow up and dont lie to Trace!!!

I find the story entertaining however there are a few annoying mistakes the author makes. Mainly, this amulet is suppose to protect her yet Jemma is severely injured more than once while wearing it. What about this special tails an ring. She put it on and it was never mentioned again.

I knew there had to be an explanation. Another jaw dropping cliffhanger. Trace is such a sweet guy. His feeling and intentions were revealed a little more in this book. Jemma is still frustrating and impulsive. Can't say too much more without giving anything away. Read Read Read!!!

I didn't really dislike anything noteworthy in this book. I had high expectations and she delivered.

The character's personalities evolve quite nicely from the first book. Right off the bat I was thrown for a loop and it kept me guessing the whole book. If you enjoyed the previous book then you will love this one.

My only complaint is I can't read the next book right this minute. The cliff is real.

Wtf?! I cannot deal with Jemma and her stupidity. The story itself is amazing but damn I swear that girl puts herself in danger every other page and I can't root for her!! Anyway, Bianca Scardoni weaves a wonderful magical apocalyptic story and it will suck you in! Awesome story with great characters except for Jemma the main character. She's about as dumb as a box of rocks!

This new author brings twists in the book that leave you guessing and who know maybe there is an alternate story line brewing too. While Jemma starts learning more about who she is and her family line...is everyone ganging up on her in the Anakim reality? The dark legion...Engel...the council...her friends. The world seems to have it out for her and the love triangle continues thru out.

I wanted to give the book a higher rating... But it just kept disappointing....
There was always so much sub stories and monologue that took up pages and added no development. Some pages just got downright silly and I skimmed over until I got to where the book actually moved again. That is a shame !w when that happens in a book.
I would like to see something actually emerge from this girl that is supposed to be such a wicked superpower but all we ever get is how she is such a victim .
Yeah. I'm over that.
Would like to see some power, confidence and , more action , less Scooby and gang sitting around trying to blame each other for the latest problems.
There is so much that can be done with the already existing
Plots and now it also seems extra plots from secondary char
Are co in gin. Lacked direction iin second half of book altogether.
Yeah. Would like to see this girls character not so dependent
On being rescued all the time....
Sigh...
For a heroine she is quite the damsel in constant distress...
Yep. Two stars.

Bravo Bianca! I couldn't put this down today until my kindle read 100%. The chemistry was spellbinding, the plot thickens and Jemma steps up to her maturing heroine status. I love how I become so lost in the story that I forget I'm actually reading. I can't wait for the next installment.

I was really looking forward to this book. I thought the author had hit on an interesting story and was looking forward to seeing where it would go.

However, there were points where I had to force myself to continue reading to get to the end. While the lead was sympathetic in the first book, I don't really like her anymore and think she should get what she deserves. Pretty much the whole book was her feeling sorry for herself, blaming herself, making stupid decisions and other people telling her she's great.

There were also too many unfortunate plot devices (time travel, changing memory, "mean girl" ex girlfriend). All of the characters were very one dimensional.

I haven't decided if I'm going to read the next book. The author showed promise with the first book, so there's always hope that she regroups for the next one. At the very least, I'll wait to read some of the reviews and not immediately buy it like I did this one.

I read the first book pretty quickly, while I almost put he first book down for its cliches I kept reading, it kept my interest even through the petty high school drama. Again, like the first book, Jemma is very naive. At the end of the second book, I was done. I was realizing that Jemma is never going to snap out of her naive/woah is me/someone save me attitude. That is.. until I read the authors end note stating that she never wanted Jemma to be an insta bad a** and she wanted her to grow up book by book (paraphrasing here) I do acknowledge Jemma getting stronger in this book, and I love the twists and turns the author throws at the audience. Due to the authors note, I continued to read into book three. The normal high school stuff bored me, but the BAM parts had me, and were the reason I continued this series. Not trying to be mean, by the way. I just want to put out an honest review. I really do think this was a okay book, despite the flaws.

Good storyline, but the plot holes and overdone flowery prose was so tedious at times it forced you to skip sections just to get to the point and put an end to it. You don't need a 20 line paragraph to describe a cup of coffee. If more time was spent on the plot itself and not the prose this could have been a really good book. There were just so many holes in this story and inconsistencies. The main character would be written as a clueless teen one moment and then an adult the next. There would be a very big sense of urgency one moment and then poof it was gone while the main character went back to her "teen life". I was getting reader's whiplash from so many inconsistencies.

This is another really good book in the Marked Series. Jemma Blackburn has to find the Amulet and get it back and save her best friend Taylor in the process. She only has a fortnight to get it all done and she's so hurt and confused.

Jemma is so confused because she cares so much for Trace but she feels he betrayed her. She feels like she needs to do whatever is necessary to save Taylor who is trapped with Engal and his men. Who knows what they are doing to her while she is trapped with them. She feels like she needs to go to Dominick trying to do what needs to be done to get Taylor back and the Amulet.

Trace cares and loves Jemma and he knows he didn't betray her. But he also knows that another him from the future came back and stole the Amulet. He wants to be with her and be there for her. Jemma hurts him several times in her choices but he would do anything for her.

Worth reading and waiting for the next book in the series.

Good story and awesome writing but I would have enjoyed the story more if Jemma wasn't so so immature, bull headed and never seems to think about the consequences of her actions. . She walks around not heeding anyone's warning and thinking she knows everything but knows nothing at all. What powers does she actually have ? She is constantly getting fooled and defeated by everyone. Anyway while the writing is very good. For me the main character is very annoying, immature and refuses to listen and learn about her full potential. This purely my feelings I don't like stories where the main character is a teenager or a story is focused around teenagers. Ugh !...LOL ! Although I won't be reading book 3 I encourage everyone who loves the story to read it the writer is excellent that's why I gave the book four stars.

Invidious was an amazing book, and a great page turner... I couldn’t put it down, I look forward to the next book and was so glad to find out that there was no betrayal on Traces part.... I do wish I could vanquish Nikki, this girl is deranged... but let’s see what happens in the sequel....
I’m glad we going out what Jemma truly is and I love the “love story “ between Trace & Jemma... I hope there is no love triangle added in there because that would be all sorts of wrong...

Definitely recommends this series ?

Both books were very interesting and easy to read as well as entertaining. I hate cliffhangers but at the same time I will be waiting for the next book since I want to know what happens so she obviously did her job as a writer by keeping my interest peaked. I like that the good guys can turn bad and the bad guys can turn good and the author has the reader questioning whose Side they are actually on!! There are a lot of books out with similar characters as far as angels, vampires, witches, etc.... And sometimes you get a little lost when it comes to who is actually what but The author did a good job keeping my attention glued to the story and not overly confused by all the terms. Was it the best book I've ever read in my entire life? No. Would I recommend it to someone else? Yes. Will purchase the third? Yes
Good job Bianca! Keep them coming!
