I absolutely loved this book. It is well written and the story weaves a tale of injustice that intertwined three families. There is passion and sorrow and courage. The heroine is Penelope and she demonstrates throughout the whole book her heart and her willingness to take a chance. I highly recommend this novel!

Yes, I loved it. 'A Rogue' was delightful, the heroine properly sweet and the hero, irredeemable. The story was a little different from most regency novels and the ending, though predictable, had plenty of twists to keep one interested. Sarah MacLean, "write" on!

Regency romance with sex. First in the series.

This is a very enjoyable romance from an author I've just discovered. Loved the tortured hero. Loved the strong, spunky heroine. Had a hard time putting it down.

What an amazing story! When I first started reading it, I was bored & didn't want to continue but kept on reading. So glad that I did because it was a fascinating read! I really enjoyed this book & looking forward to Phillipa's adventures.

I only bought the first book in the series because I was going to make myself read some of my more serious kindle purchases on my vacation. I couldn't put this book down. And as soon as I finished it, I went and found some wifi and bought the next book in the series to read on the next bus ride. After I finished the series, I read it over again. So yeah, I liked this book. it was entertaining and there were points where I thought, I really shouldn't be reading this in public!

Just adding my appreciation of the author's work. Since I never understand what other readers are looking for in their romance I rarely understand their reviews. So saying I don't try to tell you what is in the book, really from the reviews I read I swear the reviewers are reading some other tale.(Or should be) I like Bourne and I especially like Penelope. Penelope waited years for love not settling for second best. We should all be so lucky. As for Bourne, angst, really isn't that the story. The child was alone, his family taken away from him, his guardian cheating him...but he still kept letters from a young childhood friend. Enough said. I like the book. I can hardly wait for the next story. If you let a reviewer stop you from reading this author, You deserved to miss out on a Good Romance.

I love my hero and heroine to be slightly wounded... to realize they are more than they thought they were... to finally "get it" in life. This is what happens to both Michael (Bourne) and Penelope (The Grape from Eleven Scandals to Start)... They both discover they are so much more than they thought they were. I positively enjoy Sarah Maclean books, so I went into this one expecting to love it and I did! I loved watching Penelope grow into the person she was meant to be, and for Michael to remember what it was like to love. The supporting cast was good, not richly drawn yet but I expect that will come in the next story... I enjoyed the sneak peek into the next book, and I especially loved the letters between Pen and Michael... Loss, love and redemption... Witty dialogue and a well constructed story... It's a keeper in my Kindle...

Definitely one of the best romances I've ever gotten my hands on, and the fact that it's a series is fantastic, I've already started the second, focused on Penelope's sister Pippa and its even better than tho one, I can NOT put it down.

I have found a new favorite author! Intelligent dialogue, strong female leading lady, and a story that pulls at your heart. Sarah Maclean was praised on my other favorite author's social media page, Susan Elizabeth Phillips so I plunged right into this book and was not disappointed... I've since read five others by this author and have read this one a second time - great story!

"A Rogue by Any Other Name" is a sinfully seductive ride into London's salacious underworld. Behind it's doors you'll experience a wonderland of wickedly wanton vice, a world where poisonous pleasures determine a man's fate. With just one roll of the dice, one flick of the wrist, your life will never be the same. Don't you want to play?
Michael Bourne lost it all in one enticing a game of chance - his land, his woman, and his position in society. Nine years of plotting revenge hardens a man, makes him ready to destroy and conquer. And that's just what he plans to do but first he must marry Lady Penelope Marbury.

After being publicly scandalized by a broken betrothal, Penelope is resigned to live out her life as a spinster. She refuses to forsake love to marry a man who only wants her for her substantial dowry. She is looking for "more." And that's just what she gets when fate collides. An agreement is made - lives will be changed forever. All with the exchange of the land her father won in a card game for the promise of adventure.
Bestselling author, Sarah MacLean has once again as written an engrossing romance chock full of sexual tension, redemption, and triumph. "A Rogue by Any other Name" is book one of The Rule of Scoundrels series. I don't know about you but I'm eagerly awaiting a few more tales of the forbidden. Happy reading!

This was a fun historical romance, quick pacing, entertaining, and a fast read. I have enjoyed all of Sarah MacLean's books that I have read so far. There are a fair amount of cliches in here, but they work in the context of the book.

Amazing. I love the way the characters interact. Penelope Marbury is my favourite Maclean lead. And Michael is the perfect rogue. The best part of the book is when they meet for the first time(as grown ups). I love Penelope's spirit. She is stable, strong..yet soft and feminine. Michael has so many layers built around him....and its fascinating how Penelope captures his heart!

l was not disappointed with the first of this series. Sarah did an excellent job of creating a wonderful blend of characters. This book took me through a wide range of emotions. I found When I read a story I want to loose myself in it. I want to be transported to that moment in time. I imagine this is what all writers strive for and where I'm concerned Sarah accomplished that goal with this book. I can't wait to read the next one in this series.
