This textbook is extremely well written. I got it when I was learning C and it was perfectly suited to this - I don't have any criticisms. It made me realize that there are some textbooks that are a class above the majority and that the time spent finding the good ones will quickly be repaid.

The best textbook I ever used in college. Very clear, and starts from the simplest concepts to the more complex. The author leaves out nothing. I had this book in a beginning C class and I kept it for C++ and Java courses. One of only two books I didn't sell back in four years of college! If you can't understand this book you aren't meant to be a programmer.

This book is one of the most educational, C-programming-based books that I have ever read (and I have read many!). Any person new to C-programming will gain complete knowledge of all libraries and the history of the language itself. If you are looking for an imformative approach to C-programming presented in a way that beginners can understand, this book is definitely for you. Buy NOW!

The book seems to be much appreciated. However, I find that the reader is not encouraged enough to think for her-/himself when reading the text. He or she will realise once one arrives at the end of chapter exercises-which are all right, but based on that what is given in the preceeding chapters-it will be very difficult indeed to solve these exercises. Take for example chapter 6, where loops are discussed. Professor King providies an example of a sum.c script. Then the student is asked to write a program where he or she enter numbers and the program finds the largest number. From the background given in section 6.1. it will be very difficult for the very beginner to write such a program, because there is nothing in the book which might hint at the right solution.

Great book for students just starting out on the programming trail. Lots of good examples and challenging exercises for the beginner. I heard rumors of King developing a C++ book. Is this true? If any body has more information please email me.

This is definitely a good resource when trying to learn C. It's pretty easy to read and understand as far as textbooks go, but as with most programming languages, it will probably be more helpful if there is also someone with a knowledge of C to go to with questions.

K&R (The C Programming Language) offers a deep learning experience with a terse writing style.
KNK, on the other hand, is an introductory text to programming that takes a painfully slow approach to covering even the most basic programming concepts.

Absolutely have no problem with the seller. The book arrived in good condition and quite quickly. The book itself is well organized and nicely written. However, some subjects are covered a bit too cursorily without enough explanations regarding program flow in some cases. I could easily see how, in some circumstances, a beginner could become confused when trying to decipher programming examples. And this becomes noticeable among the more complex subjects. Nevertheless, for a good part of the book this is not a problem, but seems to pop up at crucial times.

This is a good book on C programming, not a great book.

in order to really understand what was going on you need to intently read every single word. There are no solutions for the excercises which i thought were too difficult, and many times the means to find the answer could not be found in the chapter.
