Definitely worth the money. Arrived promptly and in excellent condition, and I've been meaning to order the book for a while. The illustrations are adorable and I'm always left smiling after reading it.

This was the freaking cutest thing ever! I ran across a few strips on FB and immediately searched the web for the rest. This comic depicts the little things that happen in a relationship everyday and holy crap it's adorable. I can't get enough. Soppy has the most realistic and adorable illustrations of a REAL relationship. I connected with so much of it. It had me all sappy and other parts had me laughing and saying that's totally me! Loved it!!

This is a cute little book (literally) that one can look at when they're feeling lonely and craving a relationship. The story follows an introverted English couple that has recently started living together. The art style is different that most of the graphic novels that I've read and the Red, White, and Black color scheme remind me of The White Stripes. There is not much dialogue in this graphic novel so you'll probably devour it in one day.

Disclosure: I won this book from GoComics.com during their Valentine's Day giveaway. I also won two other books and an original Rose vs Rose comic strip which I will probably have framed. Look for that giveaway contest there. (They did not ask me to review this book. They didn't even know that I write reviews. They picked my name at random from all entries received.)

This is not the type of book that I would have purchased, but I love the humor. I did not realize that it is autobiographical until I visited Philippa Rice's author page here on the store.

I recognize some of my own childhood in her statements,

"Vanilla is only a weak version of chocolate."
--- (I always got other flavors because I grew up thinking that all other flavors were plain vanilla with flavors added.)

"Face up, cook. Face down, pizza." (flip) "Can we get a pizza, anyway?"
--- (Yes, I am always trying to game the random numbers process like this.)

"Don't cut down that flower." "Isn't that a weed?" "It's a good weed!"
--- (My mother had some flowers in her garden that almost everyone in Arkansas called weeds. She loved them because they were beautiful.)

I'm donating this book to our county library so that others may enjoy the humor that I enjoyed in this book.

It is a book that is full of humor and artwork. Philippa's drawing style is, in a word, unique, but it grew on me. This is the kind of book that I can open at random, read a few pages, then put back down, not worried about whether I've read a page yet or not.

Do "Look Inside" this book. That will help you decide whether to buy it or not.

This book is simply adorable. I'm sure many people who are in a relationship can relate to certain illustrations in this book. I love the art style, and the mood that is set by the illustrator. The stories in the book are very charming, and go through a variety of parts of "being in love". It doesn't just show happy lovey dovey scenes, but also fights, moments of laziness, silliness, & just everyday life. For being an illustration/comic, it feels very real & natural. This book made me re-appreciate the little things that fill up my relationship with my boyfriend. I would suggest this to anyway who lives the potato life & is in a goofy, lazy, fun relationship.

'Soppy: A Love Story' is the illustrated love story of author Philippa Rice and her real-life boyfriend. It's more a series of vignettes, most of it without words, but I was quite taken with it.

Through a series of panels we see boy and girl living their separate lives, and slowly coming together. Panels show them living together, having milkshakes together and cuddling on the couch. True love isn't always about the big things. It's the small moments that make up a life. The odd sleeping habits, or sharing a living space. Everyday things like grocery shopping or watching television or deciding to garden or not garden are the activities that make up a life.

It was sweet, as you might gather from the cover illustration. While it may lack the arc of a story or any tension, it's not a bad valentine to true love. Yes, it's quite soppy and sappy, but there's nothing wrong with that occasionally, is there?

I received a review copy of this graphic novel from Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this sweet graphic novel.

This quite honestly is the single most adorable thing that I have read in the past 6 or so months.
I had no expectations going in. I mean, I had a vague notion of what Philippa Rice's work was like but not enough to form an opinion so maybe that contributed to me enjoying it immensely.
There really isn't a plot to the whole book, it's mostly snippets of everyday life between the author and her partner but there's just something about the whole simplicity and ease with which they deal with each other that fills you with warmth.

over all, it's a wonderful read and i would highly recommend to everyone who's looking for a light read.

Very cute and I loved the artwork. It reminded me of my boyfriend and myself which made me love it even more. My only complaint is that I wish it was longer. I finished the whole thing in about 30 minutes.

A sweet capture and affirmation of the little moments and vignettes that make up a relationship: holding hands while falling asleep, riding bikes or sharing a blanket, cleaning house and washing dishes. It all sounds incredibly prosaic until you see the tenderness and gentle humor Rice imbues in the images. You may well recognize yourself and your partner on the pages.

I really should not have gotten this .
It has cute pictures was not engaging for me I think the couple was cute in the book together but not engaging enough for me .
this book was very much more about quiet life
and less about adventure than I was expecting.
I'm sure I would have enjoyed it more if I was in the right place to read it
I didn't read or look at the whole book because i felt I wanted more adventure
at the time of purchase
I sold it within less than a month after I got it .
