It's frightening to learn through fiction how our country and our world

is manipulated and controlled by supposedly do-gooders. Many readers will write this off as another good piece of fiction. But is it fiction? I am rating this five stars because it should be read. The author weaves his characters into a fast-paced plausible story.

Rather cumbersome having to upload 5 cds into itunes. The book appeared to be abridged, although this wasnt mentioned at the time of the purchase. Had I known I probably would not have bought it. Why could not the full version of this be downloaded over the internet in a similar manner to Audible. In fact seeing as Amzon owns audible why not give adible a donloadable copy! Took a long time to arrive in comparison to an Audble download.
In conclusion - A good story written by a Great Authorand well narrated, but incredibly short of the authors usual long winded style.

Underneath all the sarcasm and one liners by John Corey, there is a good book. There were also places in the story that repeated what had occured in the previous chapter. It seemed like there was way to much "filler"...not the usual quality read that I expect from Nelson DeMille.

Nelson DeMille is a very talented writer. I love how he writes from the male point of view. His characters are more real. They have flaws. John Corey has the most wonderful droll sense of humor. Wild Fire is intense and I found myself holding my breath more than once. Didn't get a lot of sleep because I couldn't put it down. A truly great read.

I just discovered this author and this is the fourth of his books I've read so far. I really like the way he leads you through a routine crime into a deeper mystery that has you guessing to the end. All this with a light-hearted humor.

Entertaining read - kept me wanting to read JUST ONE MORE PAGE before nodding off for the night. On a scale of 1-10 - I'd give this one an 8...really love the humor in between the suspense with Nelson DeMille's writing.

I love the character John Corey. His sarcasm, zingers, and witty remarks make me laugh out loud while I'm reading. His comments are not forced or fake, they are entirely apropos with whats going on at the moment. The books are all hard to put down. I've read all of the John Corey books ending with the last in the series "The Panther." I can only hope that Mr. DeMille will decide to write another book starring John Corey.

DeMille's writng is strong as always. But the book falls apart in the last few chapters. His veteran law enforcement types conduct themselves like clueless TV cops--although the plot contrivances leave them little choice. Not recommended.

Great story with lots of suspense and as always John corey humor. The exchanges between John and Kate are great. Nelson DeMIlle continues to be one of my favorite authors and I look forward to his next effort..

Another great Corey story. It takes a long time to develop - seems like it could have been 50 pages shorter, but always has the edgy, wise-cracking, anti hero at his best. I love the ending, what a way to finish. When does the Corey movie series start?

Another Detective Corey that pulls you in wanting more and more, then when the timing is perfect, the rest of the story is told with an expert accounting making it seem like it could happen.........or has it happened???

Enjoyed the very realistic" story and intense scary plot that keeps you on edge through out the book. James Patterson does make you think outside the box. Cannot wait to read another one of his books.

I always enjoy Nelson DeMille, so my wife gave me The Panther for Christmas last year. It took a while for me to pick it up and start reading, but once I did I was hooked. I did not know that it was the last in a series with John Corey. I started from the beginning with Plumb Island and am plowing through the series.
Each book is entertaining and hard to put down.

After reading the Panther I decided to go back and be introduced to John Corey from the beginning. I certainly enjoyed our first meeting in Plum Island. And I continued to enjoy him through wild fire. I look forward to our next adventure together!

This was my first exposure to Mr. DeMille. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I could hardly wait to pick it back up and starting reading some more. A very, very quick exciting read. If you like the TV Show 24, sprinkled with a bit humor, this is the book for you. If Masterpiece Theater is more your speed, take a pass. Overall a fun time spent with Mr. DeMille. I've already started Nighfall and I'm loving it too.

Again Nelson DeMille has written a fantastic novel that captivates the minds of thriller readers. John and Kate weave their way through the convoluted plot to change the post 9/11 world of terrorism much to the reader's delight.
