I love Bryan Cranston the actor, and the reviews were so good for this that my expectations were really high. This did not live up to those expectations, but I still liked it. There were many funny anecdotes. It was not as moving as I had expected. Also, I felt like I never really got to know Cranston as deeply as I did in great entertainer memoirs like the ones by Rob Lowe, Billy Crystal, and Kate Mulgrew. I love Cranston's voice, so it made a good audiobook, but this felt like he was reading a book, and not really talking to me. There was enough in this that I am glad that I listened.

Real person stories told as a professional writer talking to the audience. Thoughtful insight, serious emotion and light hearted comedy. Introspective, but always relatable. A definite for Breaking Bad fans and anyone who loves character development. Thank you

The best films are those that have strong writing, directing, and acting. Of the three, my opinion is that the writing is the most important. A director can't direct and an actor can't act without someone first putting the story down on paper. The television series Breaking Bad had all three. It also had great cinematography, soundtrack, and sets. It is the only television series that I have binge watched.

While I knew of the show Malcolm in the Middle, I was not a regular viewer. I do remember Bryan Cranston's character as the goofy dad. It is a real testament to Bryan Cranston's acting ability that he could pull off Walter White after doing Malcolm. The best actors can portray a character so convincingly that you never once think about the actual actor. I've seen just about every Tom Hanks movie, and I believe him in every single role. Bryan Cranston is in the same league.

Bryan Cranston's memoir is an entertaining look at the life of an actor. The chapters are short but written in chronological order. The reader follows Bryan Cranston from his first stage plays to his latest films, including his portrayal of Lyndon B. Johnston. And of course, there are several chapters related to Breaking Bad.

I laughed out loud numerous times while reading this memoir. I especially liked the story of when he accidentally got vaseline in his eyes during a stage play and how it aided his "mournful delivery."

You will also enjoy Bryan Cranston's narration if you get the audiobook.

This is one of the best actor autobiographies I've ever read. Bryan does an amazing job of balancing stories about his upbringing, personal life, and professional life - and telling all with wisdom and humor. There's no huge revelations (for instance, no stories of triumph over addictions, illnesses, etc., etc., like a lot of other memoirs) but the book is still a real page-turner. I loved it! Bought another copy as a gift, too.

A Life in Parts is a well written and interesting read. Anyone who is a Bryan Cranston or Breaking Bad fan will be fascinated by the many interesting experiences Bryan has lived through and how they have contributed to his growth as an actor. It is a quick read because it is hard to put down.

I bought this book because I heard Bryan Cranston being interviewed promoting his book. It sounded very interesting. Unfortunately the anecdotes I heard were the real highlights of the book and most of the rest was a lot of hardwork and hard times. However, it really enlightened me about the graft necessary to be a professional actor and the resulting lifestyle. Bryan's hard work has been rewarded in his being able now to pick and choose the roles he takes on. He also comes across as a person who has also put effort into understanding himself and his ambitions in both his personal and professional life. EG 1. understanding that a sound marriage if fundamental to a successful career. EG 2 having a ranking system for selecting parts after Breaking bad finished.

I am probably one of the few people to never have seen a single episode of breaking bad where Bryan plays Walter White but I certainly loved his character Dad Hal in Malcolm in the Middle. It certainly took some effort and leaps of faith by the casting crew to allow him to break his typecast of Hal and become a real bad guy in Breaking bad.

Bryan's father desperately wanted to be a professional actor but never made it. The book provides insights into the reasons for why some fail and others.
