My 6 year old granddaughter loves this book. The illustrations are outstanding. Heidi's universal theme of caring for and being genuinely interested in helping people is a message that I feel can never be overstated. This edition of Heidi does a very good job of condensing the story into a readable, understandable and enjoyable read.

The number of chapters is reasonable, 14 out of 23, and the number of pages is reasonable 111 out of 380. Almost all events are in this adaption. The black and white pictures are beautiful, and makes up for the fact that they are not color (Heidi is a story that needs color pictures) This is the second adaption from Stepping Stone Classics I've been impressed with.

I bought this for my great granddaughter so she could read one of my favorite books from my childhood. I was disappointed to find it is about 1/4 of the original book. Too much detail was left out, making it boring and bland.

Great story for all ages! We really enjoyed reading this book as a family. My 3 year old would sit and listen as well as my 7 year old. The story really draws you in and you want to know what happens to Heidi next. You may also find yourself longing for the mountains... Just a warning ;)

I bought this for my eight year old, third grader to read. I could not pass up the beautiful rifle paper co. Illustrations! It is a stunning book for display or to be read. It will not disappoint. Also, a great price on the store.

The cover of this book is absolutely stunning and is also the main reason why I purchased it. I love Rifle Paper Co. and everything Anna Bond designs. The story was actually really great, and I enjoyed reading it (as a 26 year-old female). I'm definitely looking forward to passing this book down to (hopefully) future daughters to enjoy.

The only reason why it's not 5 stars is because there were two pages where the ink roller got messed up and smeared the ink across the page. I requested a replacement, which the store promptly ordered, and it seems to not have any issues like that (I haven't checked page by page yet). I order all 4 books in this design series and 2 out of 4 of them had this issue. It seems that whoever was in charge of the actual inside quality check did a poor job. Some of the page numbers in a couple of the other books are almost being cut off the edge of the page (poor placement).

Other than that, the stories are classic and the outside covers are stunning. I definitely don't mind sitting these books on my shelf.

Was hoping for pictures, and similar to the illustration on the cover. But I made the mistake of buying an edition way too old for my little granddaughter, so I will be putting it away for her much later!

The pictures are really great. The artwork fantastic. Heidi was one of the first books I read as a child and I'm sure my young granddaughter, who is quite a reader will love the format. I'm hoping that this book will inspire her to read more. What a great idea for these "young" classics - to bring them to life with these beautiful pictures.

I need to read this heartwarming, uplifting book at least annually. It reminds me of goodness and wholesomeness and earthly beauty and love. Sometimes, in the complicated, busy life we live, I forget these things. This book helps me to remember to answer the call of the mountains and it reminds me to see love and to be love.

Purchased this as gift and the store mailed directly to my granddaughter for her 5th birthday. My daughter told me it has great pictures to captivate an early or pre-reader as the story unfolds. My granddaughter liked the fact that it is a chapter book...like her older siblings read!

Dear sweet story, with a handy pronunciation guide in the back. This was a wonderful story when I was a child and I cannot wait to share it with my daughter. It was purchased as part of her homeschool curriculum next year!

Although it is not the original text, the book is still a lovely masterpiece to read and reminds one of their own innocence as a child. I only wish that the girl in the cover would have been depicted as Heide was in the book; with short black curls.

This particular book has very, very small font with the words very close together, and no pictures. It is rather slim, and the font tries to make up for that by squeezing all the words together as much as possible.

I purchased this book for my seven year old niece who could not out the book down...she read it in the car, while she was waiting for her dance class to start and she was just completely engrossed in the book until she finished it.

The book is in great shape. This story is special to me. The pictures are lovely! The story is important. I was given this book by a foster mother as a child. They had a polio-stricken daughter. My foster mother wanted me to know my place.
