Jonathan grave is believable and likable, interesting and complex and gilstraps storyline is as well. He has a talent for making all his characters complete people and not cardboard cutouts. I've already downloaded his second novel and look forward to the journey!

reads well but entirely based on the idea of arming oneself to the teeth and taking the law in your own hands. UN, US government and security agencies all useless, only breaking the law we can uphold it, so... if one likes this sort of thinking it is ok

Jonathan Grave is a character that simply could not excist in the real world. He is an ex-army guy who is so connected that he can perform assasinations on American soil and not be prosecuted for them (infact he is instead encouraged to keep on doing what he is doing). There are also a fair bit of shortcuts to get the plot nicely together. A scertian x-FBI sheriff is so good at connecting dots that she almost seems to be psycic. So to enjoy this book you first have to come to terms with the fact that there are shortcuts and connections that are extremly unbelivable.

The rest of the story it self is not half bad. Graves is a hostage-rescue expert, and he has a team that helps him that are made off enjoyable characters who dosen't feel to one-dimensional. The book starts with a rescueopperation that is not what it seems to be (of course). Before long Graves and his helpers have to battle both the police and a eco-terror group who has it's eyes on some WMD.

The book is a pageturner, and there is not a dull moment through out it. The language is fairly good, and despite the shortcuts the author uses to get the story togheter, I acctually liked it. I won't run and buy another Jonathan Graves book right this minute, but I will read more about him in the future.

This was my first book by John Gilstrap. I enjoyed meeting Jonathan Graves. He is an action hero that does not want glory. He just wants to set things right. The crimes that take place in this story are chilling. Jonathan must put aside his personal feelings to find the people responsible and bring justice to the victims. I look forward to reading more by Gilstrap.

Fast paced thriller with enough technical jargon to make it interesting but not overwhelming. Very good character development and plot followed a believable line. Certainly a few good hours of entertainment.

Consistently high quality, I've never been disappointed in a Gilstrap thriller. I'm a voracious reader of mysteries and thrillers, although I avoid serial killer books and others in the Stephen King genre. Gilstap strikes a good balance of action and suspense that at least for this reader is irresistible.

very good story - good characters - got to really like a book where central character is not protected from damage - I'm looking forward to catching up on this series - my top 10 just became top 11 - no one drops out, just add another excellent author - highly recommended

This was one of those really cheap kindle stories you buy as a kind of a flyer. It just totally surpassed my expectations. Well written, good suspense, and surprizingly human characters. This was sort of like a Vince Flynn novel but the protaganist was not superman. I kind of like him.

Excellent read. I will buy others from this author.

I liked the story, and the main characters enough that I will read the next one. The confrontation at the end went on way too long and Scorpion's last stunt from the helicopter bordered on the ridiculous.

John Gilstrap has always written fascinating books, starting with the classic Nathans Run. This book brings his characterizations to new heights. Fans of Jack Reacher rejoice! Jonathon Graves is a hostage rescuer with a heart of gold and secondary characters that jump off the pages. Eagerly looking forward to Hostage Zero!

Lots of suspense from beginning to....the next book...can't wait to get started. John Gilstrap does a excellent job allowing the reader to follow and flow thru the drama and intrigue of the suspense. Well done.

I was sucked in immediately. Believable, human characters and lots of action. The plot winds in an inward spiral, bringing seemly un related incidents together in a very well thought out way. I'm ready to read the rest in this series.

I downloaded No Mercy free from Kindle. The story engaged me from the beginning. The last quarter of the book, without getting into details, could have been written in 1/4 of the space. Too much shooting, fighting, etc. which reminded me of an attempt at a movie or tv script. Perhaps it's more of a guy book.

Absolutely gripping! I had to finish it. . . and loved it!

I would have appreciated the main character to have more development/dimension, his excessive wealth makes him less relate-able to the average person.

Overall, I'm so thankful to the publisher for giving this one away for free last month. I would not have otherwise encountered this fantastic author!

I plan to buy his other books right away.

so happy to have recently found John Gilstrap and I have to thank the store, if the books weren't priced to buy on the kindle, I don't think I would have tried this author, but I am glad I did. Fast paced, exciting, great characters....Can't wait to read the others....

Sounded good and I ordered a bunch from this author but the overall feeling was that it dragged. Usually when I read to my husband who is loosing his sight - the books I select are gripping and we might get through in 3 or 4 days. This one - it seemed as though I was being dragged from page to page and only grit came me going. - it took almost two weeks to get through.
