The storytelling is not as strong as I would have expected, given Tom's gift of telling a story in film and video. There doesn't seem to be a clear voice to it; I can hear him surface in many passages, but in others, it seems lost in narratively at times. Really wanted to love this book and it is worth the money, but I have enjoyed the stories of others more in recent months.

Amazing that folks felt it necessary to trash this book in their reviews. Obviously people with an agenda, though what that could be is a mystery. The book was fine, and I enjoyed most of the stories. I found Hanks' writing style engaging.

First time reading Tom Hanks, but will certainly not be the last! These stories exude Hanks’ personality, tone, wit, humor and quips. I thoroughly enjoyed the read and as a graphic artist, of course, loved the references within each story to type and typewriters. He brings the type to life in delightful episodes— each one having a unique delicious flavor and some you like more that others.
The gripping psychological thriller everyone is talking about :: Jeremiah 29:11 Two-tone Flexcover Journal :: Beauty and the Goblin King (Fairy Tale Heat Book 1) :: A fractured Beauty & the Beast retelling (Crowns of the Twelve Book 1) :: I Know the Plans Flexcover Journal

Tom Hanks is a fantastic actor. I hope he never gives up his day job. I felt like I was listening to a late night interview with Hanks as he narrated a story using sarcasm to to a distracting level in a vain attempt at humor.

Purchased for wife. She says it was okay/good. For a person who does not read a lot of books written by big screen personalities, she was hoping it to read like his personality on television (i.e. interviews, etc). The stories were good but because they lacked Tom's TV persona, were a little uneventful. Overall, she was happy with the book.

Several hours of just fun reading was what I needed for the holidays . And that is exactly what I got except for the one story that I left behind after a half hour of trying to read it. This book is for anyone who has ever used a typewriter and has fond memories of them.I
