I have been reading Kathy Reichs books for a number of years and love them. She is a much better writer and story=teller than Patricia Cornwall. Reichs books don't have that "mad at the world," "chip on the shoulder" feel of Cornwall's books. And all the great forensic information is there. Read them all.

A good "Bones" story, easy to read. Temprance is tenacious in finding out the truth, often putting herself in danger. The truth is that important to her. I thought I knew what the story was about and boy was I wrong--delightfully wrong. The twists and turns were interesting. This book doesn't need gratuitous sex and filthy language to make it a good read.

As usual, Temperance Brennan is at the top of her game. The subject matter is quite depressing, but a reality of our present world. Temperance always makes us care about those who cannot defend themselves. She also lets us vicariously find & help punish those who commit crimes against all who are defenceless victims.

From the first paragraph Ms Reichs books draw you in and you become the character. The pages turn until suddenly you realize its over! I love the use of French, and the aboriginal words and scientific terms she mixes in, making the stories educational as well. With my Kindle it is a special experience since you can look up the definition of any you don't recognize on the fly. Exceptional writing!!!

As usual another excellent book by Kathy Reich's. I love her books . This was a sad one because it involved babies but it was handled in such a way that it wasn't too bad. I love a good mystery and Ms Reich's always comes through with them.
I would recommend this book to all but the squeamish.

Temperance Brennan is dealing with dead infants, diamond mines, and greed in another Bones story that is intriguing. Some complain there is too much detail but that is one of the things I like about her stories.

This was the most disappointing book I have read in awhile. The repeated plot of damsel in distress is grating, the lack of a cohesive plot, the Iphone that she mentions every 2 paragraphs, and the overall lack of forensics have me wishing I had waited and paid less for this book. This feels thrown together and pushed to publish.

This is better than the last few Reichs books. It was not as break-neck fast, and actually gave you time to get into the plot. However, it is getting just a wee bit old that every single book winds up with the heroine in a life-or-death struggle that she somehow miraculously gets out of. She needs to find another way to climax her stories.

I always like the information that Kathy Reichs places in her books. I learn a lot. However I feel this book was a trifle "forced" in order to make the connection between the initial murders and the solution far to the north. The conclusion was abrupt but worth the wait.

I've read several of Kathy Reichs' Bones series books. Always an enjoyable read. I liked the setting in the Northwest Territories of Canada and it was fun to learn, along with Tempe Brennan, about the gold and diamond mining that goes on there. However, I found the story to be rather linear, without too many twists and turns along the path. Plus the sophisticated city slicker confronting the ways of small town life is a rather worn and weathered road to walk down. So I do not consider "Bones are Forever" a favorite in the series.

I ususally enjoy the Temperance Brennan books, but this one had way too much detail about the geology, gold mining and other trivia to constitute a much of a mystery. In fact it wasn't realistic how Brennan even got to participate in the events of the book. Who would pay her salary to trek all over Canada?

As usual, the story was good, but, it seemed, with a cast of thousands. Way too many people; and as sometimes happens, too much tedious detail. Tempe is like a female Quincy, getting into harm's way at every turn. I'll keep reading Kathy's books, though. The science behind her work is interesting.

I used to watch the television series "Bones" until it became about things other than the crime. This is the first I have read in this series, and I look forward to more. The main character is smart in spite of her flaws--which keeps things interesting.

I watch Bones every week and enjoy. Thought the book would be an enjoyable read. Too many characters, loose
plot, unnecessary info about gold mines. Temperance has grown daughter (Kate), not Christine like in show. Ex husband's name is Pete (?) and FBI man is Ryan. Wish book was more like show. Will not be purchasing other books by author for fear of mundane. Read it to the end in case it got good.

Reichs is a unique writer and I enjoyed this book, too, her clue hunting and the sad, haunting mystery around dead babies and who would do what they did to them. Temperance Brennan is actually more human to me in Reichs' books than she have ever been on TV.

Nice plot. Lots of action and suspense. Never disappointed in a Kathy Reich's novel. Begins with the deaths of four infants and finds Brennan and investigators traveling to northern Canada to solve additional murders.

This latest Temperance Brennan mystery was once again an enjoyable read. Although not as deftly written as some of the earliest works, this one comes close to approaching that bar. I would recommend Bones are Forever to fans of the series; especially if they, as I, were disappointed with the last book.

Have always enjoyed her books but this one went into to much detail about bones and autopsy details that were a little over the top for a reader who just wants to enjoy a book and good story without all that detail. P. Cornwell is also doing this and have quit reading her books.

The story, marginal as it was, could have been told in a fraction of the space occupied by the book. The book was filled with inconsequential material that just burned pages and had nothing to do with the story. Sorry I bought it.

I have read every Kathy Reichs/Temperance Brennan book and although I enjoyed this story, I missed the tension between Pete and Tempe and Ryan and Tempe. The story has great plot twists and turns in true Reichs fashion but it left me wanting just a little bit more. Otherwise it's a great read.

Reichs continues to write excellent books. Thoroughly informed on the scientific issues because of her profession, yet able to present them so that the layman can understand them, she manages to tell a good story. This latest book is as good as any of her previous ones. Thouroughly recommended.

The newest addition to the Temperance Brennan is a bit too formulaic to get five stars. The plot hinges on a coincidence that is obvious.
Regardless, the book is a good read and is sure to appeal to fans of Ms. Reichs and her character, Tempe Brennan.

This novel was really good and I enjoyed it immensely. I felt that Kathy's past few books were becoming just a tad boring and formulaic. But this one is a bit different and it was good to learn about another industry, e.g. diamond mining. It rolled along really well but I would love to see a more permanent relationship with Ryan.

Kathy Reich's interesting good book. She keeps the story interesting in the murder plot and in her personal life. I read it in 2 1/2 days. I am glad the store carried it with such a reasonable price. I recommend it to anyone who is interested in this type of story. Thank you. Barb

As a first read of this author and having watched Bones as the tv series I was not disappointed. The plot moved along at a fast pace and the characters did not reveal any quirks that would have made the ending easy to determine who was the guilty party.

I do like Kathy Reichs, but I remember enjoying her early works much more. I am not French speaking either and I find that all of the French text is distracting to me, although I really like all the forensic detail and since I was an Anthropology major at university I understand the terms.

This story line begins with grisly discoveries of infant bodies but that is not the focus of the rest of the story. Too much info about things I didn't care about...diamond indicator minerals, for example, and too many extra characters...in short, a not very satisfying romp through the Canadian wilds.

As with all Reichs' tales, the twist and turns are a-plenty and intriguing. You know it's good when you really cannot figure out the conclusion and need the explanation of the denouement to put all the pieces together. Wow! Another scorcher!

Tempie Brennen is at it again in this suspenseful novel. As in all series it is better when you read them in order of publication. If you are expecting all to be like the tv show you will be surprised as the format is quite different.

I have recently felt that this series was loosing its luster but, this one sparkles. I especially enjoyed the interesting setting in the Canadian territories and learning about diamond mining there. The realities of life for the native population are well portrayed through the characters and plot. The romance between Temperance and Ryan went from stone cold to simmer and, that was interesting, too. This one will cause me to read the next one.

The whole premise of the book is simple: people are not who you think they are. The one person you are positive you hate in the beginning is the person you see as the ultimate victim in the end. Reichs does a masterful job of changing your opinion in an intriguing story.

Kathy Reichs is an accomplished author as well as an obviously seasoned forensic anthropologist. I do get a little tired of the overly-wordy explanations sometimes, as they seem to stall the story. But a riveting read, and my first e-book!

The TV series nicely balances between the macabre and tongue in cheek absurd. The book, the first I have read, is much less fun and more typical of the genre. A solid tight mystery, professionally told.

I am an avid mystery/thriller reader. This is the 2nd book I've read where I would have loved to send back. Over decriptive and quite boring read. Surprised have read this author previously. I read the entire book but painfully.

Although the book is a page turner, I realize that although I read it only a short time ago I can barely remember the plot. I was interesting to learn about mining for diamonds in fay northern Canada. The ending was unsatisfying, kind of a let down.

I was terribly afraid I would not like this book. The "Bones" tv show is one of my favorites. It didn't spoil my appreciation this novel. This is the first Kathy Reichs book I have read. I really enjoyed it.

I started reading Kathy's books in 1992 with Death Du jour and have continued to read each one as it came out. She has my attention with each one and so far the quality has not changed.
This one has my full attention.

I have read every book that Kathy Reichs has written and I couldn't put this one down. It grabs you on the first page! Dr. Brennan is such a likeable character and this book sure doesn't disappoint for suspense. I highly recommend Kathy Reichs!

Interesting and more unique than the last few novels by Reichs. I always enjoy learning some new facts but the basic story line Brennan steps outside the investigation, gets into life threatening situation, and is rescued is getting trite.
