I have thoroughly enjoyed all of the Pike Logan series. The writing is not great classic writing but for this genre it is fantastic, authentic and thrilling. I am waiting excitedly for the next in the series.

I like Brad Taylor and his Pike Logan novels. This one was very well researched, well written and thought out. The problem was that the details got in the way of the story. A book in this genre needs to keep moving, and faster rather than slower. This one plodded along with only occasional bursts of energy.

The characters, particularly the two Israelis (and Jennifer) were quite good. But, Pike has been almost emasculated by Oversight, and his team has become (in this book) far less interesting. The bad guys were mostly a mixed up lot.

I hope Brad Taylor reads these reviews, because he's good at story telling, and has crafted a fine group of characters. After this he simply must remember that the story, like his chief protagonist, Pike Logan, is best when moving, in action, and the details have to be filled in around that action--not vice versa!

Perhaps this book undertook too complex a set of bad guys. Maybe the character development of them was (in Brad's mind) essential. I think the bad guys stole this book and dulled it down. I'm glad they all got what they deserved in the end (whoops...a leak).

Next time Brad...less talk, more action!

Man, this guy is getting better with each book, and this is his best yet. His prose has always been damn good for a real knuckle dragger, but even that is improving. His characters are off the chart, though: believable, engaging, and, more importantly, give us insight into a shadow world most of us will never have to inhabit. This book is as topical as they come, with references to very recent ISIS atrocities, and they best insight into the inner workings of that group I've ever read. Like all of Taylor's books, it also gives us insight into the inner workings of Tier 1 operators doing their jobs. Whether that insight is realistic or not is beyond my understanding, but the man has me fooled. This one kept me awake way too late for yet another weekend. You just can't go wrong with a Brad Taylor book. Bravo!
