Have now read all of Greg Isles books Thoroughly enjoyed each and every one until this one. Not fun to read because it is way too long, too many characters to keep up with. Need a "program" just to try and remember from page to page and chapter to chapter. Really disappointing end after making myself no give up on it about halfway through. A great and interesting plot but just not enjoyable to read when you constantly have to keep looking back to who,s who and who is good and who is bad and who is traveling with whom to God know where. Then after all of that the end is even totally believable. Isles needs to stick with his Mississippi tales which have all been great.

Well developed characters, balanced suspense, plausible plot. Good use of language. Provides a stimulating peek into the history of the period, and imaginative forays into what might have been taking places behind the scenes during the Nazi nightmare.

Greg has a magical way with words. My husband thought I would not like a war book, but it felt as if I were in the place and time described. I am amazed at the research that must have gone into this book.

Iles is brilliant again as he takes you back through history and into the dark past of WWII. Winding fiction around a spine of facts, Iles creates a story that is so gripping in its realism, you can't separate history from imagination. In light of the current wave of nationalism, racism, and other underlying troubles in our country, it is a good read to remind you of what it looks like when these behaviors get to be extreme. Heroes, heroines, villans and victims, Greg Iles delivers them all in a rollicking adventure story that will have you thinking. The possibility of it all is what will scare you. Enjoy!

This book makes you stop and think about the political world and the voices of the people it contains. Is this book the truth regarding Hitler and how people really think bought of him. Are there people today that believe his view of the world order is correct. This book will make you stop and think about the world we live in and the true effect of on the world of a very evil man named Hitler.
