I like the primary character, Penn Cage. However, he is a walking disaster -- where ever he goes, major bad things happen to around him. It's like a modern day James Bond, without the international spy intrigue. I like it well enough, but can we get somewhat more real?

Another look into Penn Cage's life did not disappoint. While Penn's character does not display any of the interesting flaws that many of my favorite anti heros possess, I can't help but like Penn's genuine goodness. The stories are complex, but not overly complicated just for the point of being so. I'm a fan! Keep writing, Mr. Iles.

I liked the story line very much. The development of characters was very interesting. I am a huge Iles fan but sometimes the story line almost ground to a halt. I wanted to shout "Come on, let's move on." I do not profess to be a writer or a professional critic but I think there could have been fewer unnecessary passages. Keep 'em coming Mr. Iles.

It would be hard someone from outside the south to understand how things and conditions were like in Natchez, MS in 1968. That just part of the story. I do not want to spoil you before you read this but get ready for very intriguing time and hold on.

Page after page of suspense and intrigue holding you steadfast in its clutches. A fantastic work that keeps you spellbound, page after page! Absolutely one of the best series of books I've ever read! Can't wait for more Penn Cage!!
Greg Iles is without a doubt one of the best writers out there, and probably the number one that I'd most like to meet in person!!
Fabulous Work!!!

Really kept you interested. It was as good as his other books. Had you sure youknew who did it several times and wrong each time. Very disturbing to think this is going on in our schools all over this country and we are ignorant of it or just ignoring it. Sad commentary on our society.

I thought the teen/adult sexuality was too graphic. I really liked the first Penn Cage. This was disappointing. I do not know if I will read another. I regret that I did not read the 1 star reviews before I read this!!!

After reading Natchez Burning - which I loved, I read every Penn Cage novel by Greg Iles. It is rare that I find an author who has written a book that so enthralls me that I feel compelled to read everything they wrote with that character. My suggestion is that you read the series starring Penn Cage in order if you can - not backward like I did. I could not put Turning Angel down - once you start, you will be up late at night anxious to find out what happens.

Unbelievable exceptional reading. I got mad because I had to do something else and put the book down for aminute. Vivid portrayal with characters who jump off the page with life-like effectiveness. Highly recommend.

Greg Iles really knows how to keep you guessing. This book gets deep quick and goes deeper than you could imagine. Iles doesn't disappoint with this shocking look into the lives of the teenagers in Natchez. Read it. It's great!

Started the series out of order, with Natchez Burning, which was excellent. This book is good, but not nearly as good as Natchez Burning. It is good for background to fully understand Penn Cage. My advice, don't read the the series out of order.

Interesting and well written. The story flows and is never boring. Allthough I later find out it is part of a series, I was not familure with this author, but the title caught me and now I am reading more of his work.

There is an" invisible line of demarcation." A challenge will come, the insistance begins, then the dare is issued with a gentle push toward the glinting shadowland.
The poster child of St. Stephens, Kate Townsend is dead. St. Catherines Creek tried to wash her into the Mississippi River after someone killed her.
Drew Elliott, once a golden boy, now a respected doctor, and twenty three years older, had been in love with seventeen year old Kate. Her death would transform him from respected hero into a statutory rapist. They had been planning on leaving to start a new life together. Seventeen is not the age of consent in Mississippi. Crucifixion might have been easier than facing the upcoming suspicions, innuendoes, lies and criminal charges. Masks of life are worn. Sometimes they slip askew. Deep down they were other beings.
Ellen Elliott was considered by many to be a cast-iron bitch. She was willful, determinded and held too much power with the forty something crowd. Ellen treated Kate like her personal protegee.
Winning can become an obsession, one sometimes worth killing for. When fate blows a hot breath against your face, do you brush it aside, kiss with a tear, or try to crunch it between your teeth? Who is the winner? Who loses? Pralines are sweet, but so is revenge.
This is a well paced, engrossing tale. It is certainly worth the effort of buying and reading. Thanks, Greg Iles.

I read Natchez Burning first and wanted to read Greg Illes earlier books as I enjoyed the writing style and the character. I am enjoying the characters and settings of this series and have started reading one of the earlier books The Quiet Game.

This is a well-written well-developed complex story involving many characters. I found myself not wanting to do other things until I got to the end. I give no info at all on the story. This is a mystery must-read.

This book starts out like the first Penn Cage book. Grips you in the first chapter and has many twists and turns in it that leave you on the edge of your seat and almost breathless at times. I would recommend this book for anyone who likes action packed storylines that unfold just like real life does. The characters are real and gritty!

I loved the book, recognized so many places in Natchez that he used in the book. Read it for the first time right after it came out and went to the Natchez cemetery and spent half a day looking trying to envision all the areas he talked about and see the angel seem to turn and continue to look at me as I drove by. Reread the book last week and enjoyed it again as much as the first time.

I really enjoy the setting for this in Natchez, MS. If adds an interesting flavor to the book. There were lots of twists and turns before the murder of a high school girl was solved. I didn't see it coming...

This was my first Penn Cage experience, and I couldn't put it down. Moves quickly and kept me guessing. I was glad I wasn't watching the "warehouse scene" on a big screen - would have been covering my eyes!
