One Lucky Cowboy (Lucky Cowboys)

Ellacyn Jane Hayes is about to have the happiest day of her life. But on the eve before her wedding day, she sees her fiance' making out with his "sister". She also overhears their plans to murder Ellacyn on the honeymoon. Ellacyn knows she needs to hide for six weeks until her twenty-fifth birthday, the day she inherits the family ranch and oil business.

She leaves in the middle of the night and fortune shines down on her hours later at a bus station. Nellie Luckadeau has been wanting to hire some extra help and "Jane Days" will fill the job nicely. The only drawback to the situation is Nellie's grandson, Slade, who believes Jane is a con artist.

Slade does everything he can think of to get Jane to leave, but she is bullheaded. But when a flyer is being posted around town about the missing heiress, Jane knows she must come clean and reveal her past.

Slade and Jane go on the run for a few weeks, hiding out until her birthday, and trying to stay a step ahead of her ex-fiance' and his partner who are still looking for her to finish the job. They fight like cats and dogs, but soon find themselves heating up the sheets.

Wonderful characters, seamless writing, and a firecracker romance has Carolyn Brown at the top of her game. ONE LUCKY COWBOY will have you craving a cowboy of your own. Loved it!

I have never read a better book. A 5-star rating from me means that it is a book that I will read again and again. ONE LUCKY COWBOY is definitely a 5-star read! Carolyn Brown has written a book that is humorous and entertaining. It also has suspense and romance in equal parts. This author has written a story with more southern cliches than I have ever known. The verbal foreplay between the H and h is hilarious with many unexpected phrases. This book is a winner and sure to please the readers. Well done, Carolyn Brown! A 5-star winner!!

I bought this book because I have red almost everything else. I figured I would like it and enjoy myself but never expected it to be so much fun. This book has a super cute story that would make for a good book but what makes it GREAT is that I laughed my bootie off thru the whole book. The yaya sister hood thing going on with these amazing older women will just crack you up as well as the cute story that has a little of everything you could want in a romance. It isnt very graphic...heck it isnt anything like most romances...it will lead up to and pick up after the bed scenes, which was still fine. If you are fimiliar with Kathryn Sparks, and Lynsday sands and how you get the romance and the comical stuff into one will this book goes to all new levels in the comical stuff...way to much fun.

You get hunky Slade who doesnt trust Jane Day at all...he believes she is con artist or something and wants nothing more then for her to leave.

Jane shows up after being found at a bus station where she just came from trying to runa and hide from the assassin that she was engaged to and had plotted all along to have killed her on the honeymoon. In nned of room and board she takes the offer Nellie makes for $100 a week and room and board to frive her around and help on the ranch with cooking and stuff.

More her then meets the eye and will keep you guessing. As far as Slade finds his meddling grannie trying to hook him up with Jane and fights it all the way to the alter. The road they travel is a blast and i just have to say I love this sassy girl who gives as good as she gets but is still all girl!

This book will touch all your emotions. It is funny, exciting, romantic, scary, and full of surprises. I loved the banter between Slade Luckadeau and Jane Day aka Ellacyn Jane Hayes. Carolyn has written another winner that will make you not want to put the book down. I also liked Slade's grandmother, Nellie. What a fun character. I received an advanced copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.

He doesn't recognize her, but she sure recognizes him and wants to take her baby girl and run back home.

But once her grandparents lay eyes on baby Katy next to Beau, they know something is fishy and want Milli to tell him before he finds out himself. But Milli is scared that Beau will only want Katy and not her, so she stays quiet. But when Beau's engagement is called off, all bets are off.

Lucky in Love is a wonderful western romance. I just love a man in cowboy boots and Beau is one heck of a good ole boy. Milli and Beau have real problems that we see in everyday living, so it's not a fairy tale. Carolyn Brown spins a charming tale of love, loss, and joy with an expert hand.

For whatever reason, I've been on a western contemporary kick. Maybe it's the happily ever after, or the small town feel. I don't know, but thanks to this kick I've discovered Carolyn Brown! I have to say I love her books. The characters are fun and light hearted, very easy to connect to as well. Not to mention the guys are nothing short of dreamy!

ONE LUCKY COWBOY is the second in her Lucky series. The nice thing about these books is you don't have to read them in order. Jane's world is turned upside down in one night and she has no clue what to do. When she lands in Wichita Falls, Texas and meets Nellie Luckadeau she finds a new life that she wants to live. Even if she and Slade don't get a long at all!

The relationship between Slade and Jane was one of my favorite things about this book. They argue from the start, and many of the arguments made me laugh out loud. Even when she's being chased down by assassins they still spend more time arguing than getting along. As their relationship transforms from enemies to something much more it's a rocky, but well worth it road.

Nellie and her sister along with three other ladies are absolutely fantastic in this book. If you've ever had a granny or aunt that's up there in years but is feisty as ever then you know exactly the type of person Nellie is. No one bosses her around regardless of whether you are right or wrong. She is the judge, jury, and executioner.

This book is a great read if you want just a single book or if you want to read the series. Some of her other books are just as good as well!

Slade Luckadeau is the man of the ranch. He likes it that way. He will not see some woman come waltzing in and make herself at home. Slade doesn't care if his grandmother invited her to work at the ranch. Slade believes that Jane Day is hiding something and he doesn't like it. Slade can't get Jane off the property fast enough.

Jane Day is on the run for her life. She has no where to go but forward. Just her luck, a nice lady invites Jane to come to the ranch. She can stay in exchange for helping out. From the first moment, Jane and Slade met, they did not hit things off. As time passes, Jane starts to get under Slade's skin. Will Jane and Slade be a match made in heaven or hell?

I liked this book. So far though, Lucky in Love is my favorite. One thing I do have to admit is that all of the Luckadeau men are H-O-T! The chemistry that Slade and Jane started out slow but once it got up to speed...watch out. I like Jane. She is a firecracker. Slade definitely needs someone like Jane to keep him in his place. It was funny that Slade thought he was a ladies man but all it took was someone like Jane to throw his whole game off. I did struggle a little with this book. Like Jane and Slade, It was slow going for be at first. Also, this book wasn't as funny as the prior one. Overall still a good read. I do plan to read the final book in this trilogy.

It does have a happy ending, but only after many twists and turns. Intimacy is done well and tastefully. I would say it could have been condensed some but overall I would recommend it.

Not my favorite but worth a read (especially to experience Nellie and the gals.). I had trouble connecting with both Jane and Slade but did enjoy the ending. Wish there was a epilogue to expand on that a little further.

I love reading books by Carolyn Brown, and this one was really good. I liked the adventure mixed in with all the fun of the Senior ladies, and of course the romance. This one scored high for me and I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

As the stars line up you will hate Millie thinking she is a very selfish individual, love Beau because he is so believing and come to the realization that you don't have to love the characters to fall in love with reading about them. I received the trilogy; "Lucky in Love", "One Lucky Cowboy", and "Getting Lucky" by Carolyn Brown and eagerly wanted to get to know the characters. I love the feel of getting to know characters in a trilogy and "Lucky in Love" left me with the desire for more. More romance, more drama, and just more.....

Painfully predictable, but a light summer read. Some of the writing is difficult to swallow- a 25 year old woman that hasn't educated herself about sex and her body? Not damn likely. And the sexy parts are very perfunctory and not well written. I think CB needs to study up a bit or figure out a way to imply the act while letting our imaginations do the work.

It amazes me at how some books are artistically written, filled with eloquent words that tell the story and yet leaves a little something out.

Carolyn Brown doesn't do that. I love her books, not just for the story, but also for the down home writing. Her characters are so lively, one would think they knew Jane or Slade.

Brown's use of everyday, southern phrases is most of the reason I keep coming back for more.

Jane is one helluva woman and Slade is your typical, stubborn cowboy. I loved this book.

PG13 - Language (deity, "rancher" swears); Sex (premarital sex, no details at all - fade to black, descriptive kissing). Got kind of long-winded. I wasn't extremely crazy about the lack of morals of the H and h; not what I've read in a Carolyn Brown book before. Cute story, no cliffhanger.

I found the writing to be stilted and disconnected for the first half of the book. Then it seemed another author took over the writing for awhile and then the bad writing was back again.

I seemed like Ms. Brown couldn't go 2 pages without putting in some phrase like 'belongs out here like a horse apple in a church social punch bowl' or 'didn't know straight up from backwards on a sunny day'. She also loves to use the word 'harelipped'. I don't understand why she made all the characters sound like some hick backwoods country people who lived 200 years ago.

This story just didn't flow. And don't get me started on the typos. This story also could have benefited with a few more section breaks. She would be talking about one character and what was going on in their mind and continue right on to another character with no break.

I had a terrible time trying to finish this book. I'm just glad I got it from my local library and didn't fork over $6.99 for it.

I love westerns (historical or modern), but I definitely would not recommend this book to anyone.

One Lucky Cowboy is a fantastic romance that any diehard will enjoy. Not only do we have engaging lead characters, but the supporting characters are just as amusing and definitely add a whole new layer of enjoyment. If anyone is looking for a quick romance, then pick up One Lucky Cowboy, I know I'm itching to go find the first novel in this series, Lucky in Love.

LUCK IN LOVE jumps into action as Beau Luckadeau's prize bull is in a neighbor's pasture thanks to someone cutting the fence wire. He immediately jumps to the wrong conclusion when he accuses Milli Torres of being a thief. He almost gets shot for his trouble. Little does he know that she has come to southern Oklahoma to help out on her grandfather's ranch. He also doesn't realize that she is the mystery woman who has haunted his dreams for the last two years.

Milli Torres is trying to avoid Beau like the plague. He doesn't remember their night two years ago and she wants to keep it that way. Fate doesn't seem to be cooperating though. Before she knows it, her carefully guarded secret is exposed and she loses control in more ways than one.

This book is the first of the Lucky Series, followed by ONE LUCKY COWBOY in November and GETTING LUCKY in January, 2010. It's my first experience with Carolyn Brown's work and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I think fans of Linda Lael Miller and Diana Palmer will also cherish this book too.

Beau may not have recognized Millie but she sure remembers him and the night they shared so long ago.

Millie and Beau is a match made in heaven. Millie is beautiful as well as hot tempered. She is like a firecracker. She definitely shows Beau who is in charge. Beau is exactly who I picture when I dream of cowboys. A man who knows how to wear a pair of jeans. From the moment that I sat down to read this book, I was laughing and knew that I was going to really enjoy this book. I wasn't wrong. I enjoyed this book so much that I plan to rope myself some more of Carolyn Brown and her books. Lucky in Love is a must read!

Trashy characters, head hopping POV in every other paragraph and a crazy plot. This is the 2nd book from this author I've tried and it just keeps getting worse. Download the sample first and save yourself some time.
