Loved this book. The wronged women came out smelling like a rose. The cousins were a hoot but also learned a lesson. This is one I keep and read a couple times a year. Carolyn Brown is an outstanding author and I have most of her books.

This book was very one dimensional. It was all sugar and spice, which is really strange for such a serious topic. Everyone that was good turned out rich and in love with another good person. It was very simplistic.

A lovely book about the triumph of the spirit. I identified a little with how she redecorated after her marriage ended. It helped me to change the atmosphere. She turned her pain and fear into peace and joy helping other women who suffered as she had. It was a very warm hearted book.

An OK second-chance romance, but I was more impressed by the focus on the struggles of abused wives. This book provided some good examples of how women get into abusive relationships, methods of control, the difficulties in leaving, and the aftermath of such relationships. My problems with the book were the lack of depth in the characters, and unnatural speed and ease of some situations. In one spot, for example, a man was arrested for beating his wife, released early the next morning, and just a few hours later, his house had a for sale sign and a moving truck was being loaded up. The plot kind of fizzled out near the end of the book, too. I skimmed the last few chapters. Received as a GoodReads Kindle giveaway.

This book had me hooked from the first sentence. It opened my eyes to the horrible situation so many women find themselves in. Thank God for real people like Hannah who give hope and relief to those women in need

Well, it is Carolyn Brown, so you know there will strong, funny women and sweet, sexy men. Most of the loose ends were tied up quickly and neatly with a happily-ever-after. (Although she can easily expand this to a series by giving the support characters their own books.)

I wanted to be impressed by the fact that she included spousal abuse, and I hope this raises awareness for this important issue, but somehow the quick happy resolutions seemed too unrealistic.

But, hey, it was a quick dose of light escapist romantic fiction ... so I'm happy!
