This book is only about sex. Good clean cowboy sex but that's all it is. It's not up to the great storytelling that I have come to expect from Carolyn Brown's books. I guess it's just one of her early ones.
I don't like the language either. She has college graduates talking like hicks who flunked the 3rd grade. It doesn't add anything positive to the book. It just gets in the way. Oklahoma ranchers don't really talk that way except when they're drunk or joking but Brown maintains that language throughout this book.
I'm done reading her stories for a while.

Carolyn Brown's first book in the Spikes & Spurs series is a contemporary western romance that will make you wish you were living in the wide open spaces of rural Texas! Brown is a delight to read, with a cast of characters that will keep you laughing and smiling the whole book. A fun, sexy read!

Very good beginning, sweet middle and beautiful ending. I sure wish I had a granny and a little town to call home. Austins determination, wild sprit and that handsome cowboy Rye makes anyone's dreams come true. Hope the rest of the series was as good as the first.

This was another great book by lori Foster. I thought it was funny & warm hearted. There was a little of the usual drama in a romance book but on the whole it was very light hearted. A great read!

This story is a sweet simple cowboy love story. However it's does have some flow issues. The story at times feel choppy like a good editor was needed. But if you can over look that and just was a light happily ever after then this is a good read .

I have always had a tendency to lean towards cowboy/ city girl romance novels, and I really enjoyed this one because finally something different- a southern novel that's not "just" about living on a horse or cattle ranch. I thought the watermelon farm was a totally unique and different setting, and I really enjoyed the dialogue between both of the main characters, I can't wait to pick up some of the author's other books.

A great romance, plenty of sex and just the right amount of tension. The big city vs country conflict reminded me of the social comment in Dickens' "Our Mutual Friend". To bad that wasn't developed a bit more. An enjoyable read.
