This study provided such insight to God's word that I had not experienced before. Priscilla is a wonderful teacher and explains in depth the scriptures in Jonah where you can understand it and apply it to your life.

The member book compliments the video series very well. Priscilla Shirer is an excellent speaker
and shows how Gods Word applies to our everyday lives. I was very happy with the delivery
service from the store. Everything came in a timely manner.

Fabulous bible study. Really easy to use format. Questions were deep enough to really give you something to think about, but applicable so it wasn't an exercise of great proportions to answer. My teenage daughter and I both did the study. It is a study that will have lasting impacts.

I joined a prayer group and the local Christian stores were sold out of this book. Went on the store and received this book in record time. Item arrived in great condition, in excellent time. The bible study is a good one...making one reflect a lot on your life and determining in what areas of your life you are a "Jonah", running away from God.

Book was great....if you were doing an indepth study of the book of Jonah. However content left a lot to be desired for a group study. Book arrived with some writing in it, so I had to erase or white out much of the other person's writing, but then it was interesting their take on some of the questions, also. Would definitely pick a different book in this series

"Jonah" is a 7-session group Bible study inspired by the events in the book of Jonah. It's a group study where the women meet together once a week for 60-90 minutes. During this group study, you watch a video that is 32-48 minutes long and discuss things from the workbook. The workbook had sentences that you fill in as you watch the video, then it had 5 days worth of work to do at home during the week. Each day has 4-5 pages worth of reading in the workbook. The main theme was about divine interruptions (or interventions).

Basically, if Jonah was given a second chance, we then looked at places in the Bible where people were given a second chance and then were encouraged to discuss times in our lives when God gave you a second chance. We were also encouraged to find a "Nineveh" to reach out to as a group. Our church tends to attract people who are involved in various outreaches. Our problem wasn't that we didn't want to do this but that we're already so busy.

Our group of women knew each other but were not close, and our leader was new to leading Bible studies. I would have liked to discuss some things brought up during the week that were never brought up for group discussion in the Leader's Guide. By the end, we were skipping most of the suggested questions and spent more time discussing the parts that we had questions about.

Also, it seemed like each week we were supposed to open up about ourselves. For example, we're suppose to talk about a time God gave us a second chance. We all agreed God had done so, but either due to "which one to talk about?" or "I'm not telling about that!", only the leader actually answered in front of the group. I think many group Bible studies try to get people to open up more than their level of acquaintance makes comfortable.

While I enjoyed getting to know the women who attended, I didn't feel like I really learned anything about Jonah that I couldn't learn from study Bible. The focus seemed more on looking at how something in the story might (somehow) be related to our lives and how to apply that. So it's more of a "Christian Living" study than a true "book of the Bible" study.

Not a knock against the author Priscilla Shirer or her book, but just a disappointment in what I received. The book is a workbook that you use while watching a video and when I opened it, there was someone's answers already written in the book. I had to return it. I don't mind buying used books, but a workbook cannot be sold listed in excellent condition if the answers are already written inside.

The title of this book caught my attention, but the content of the book kept my attention. It is a short study (7 weeks) and is easy to read. Each week has 5 days worth of reading - not too long, and certainly not too short. I found that each day had the right portion that got my thoughts centered on what God may be doing - or want to do in my circumstances. It has some solid, hearty concepts that is needed for both men and women, young or old Christians. For me, doing this study was the jump start I needed to have in order to gain the right perspective on the interruptions of life I have been experiencing. The accompanying video series is excellent. I highly recommend this study.

I'm surprised at how many five star reviews their are for this book. I'm about halfway through the study and it's not terrible but there are a couple of things that really irritate me. Priscilla and Beth Moore both have a tendency to come up with a topic, in this case interruptions, and try to find a part of the Bible that will go along well enough with their subject. It's clear I must be a fan of Kay Arthur because I like to study the Bible and not make it about anything it isn't. I'm not saying that it's a terrible study nor am I saying that the comments and the book are not biblical. You can get some good out of this study, but it's sometimes a stretch to connect Jonah to what she's teaching.
My real problem with the book is simply about the erratic use of Scripture throughout. Sometimes scripture that she wants you to read is quoted in the margin, sometimes it's quoted right in the middle of the passage, and sometimes she makes you leave the book and go read it in your Bible. There's no consistency and the truth is it would be much easier if all the scripture were in the book so you don't have to keep going back-and-forth between the book and your Bible over and over. It could just be right there for you. Why can't they make things easier for you?

What a great Bible study about how God using interuptions as divine interventions in your life!

Have you ever felt like God interrupted your life? This book shows you how really these interruptions are invitations from God to do something amazing. Something God thinks that you are the best person to handle. (reflect on that a minute)

I have never studied the book of Jonah and I loved it!

Priscilla has a way that draws you in and you can't wait for what she is going to share the next day, I highly recommend the DVD series that goes with this but it can definately be used alone.

This is a study that should not be missed!

Excellent study. Powerful Biblical truths presented in timely and engaging style. Never had seen so much spiritual depth in this Old Testament book before this study. I am leading this study for two groups this summer and the women are raving about it - calling it a life changing-experience. Thank Priscilla for another great study.

Nice fairytale about a man being swallowed by a fish or whale for three days. In real life we all know that is impossible to survive three days underwater in a fish. More than likely he was abducted by a UFO and the witnesses had nothing to compare it to so they assumed it was a fish.
