This book probably resonates well with a younger audience. Although I like the characters, I found the plot to lack depth. Character motives could be elaborated on. Sometimes the environment and the actions could be more explained- there were many gaps the reader will need to fill in.

"Revenge" was written in language that anyone could understand. It moved at a fast pace and kept me entertained all the way through. I've already finished the second book ("Curse of the Bane") and am working on the third. This book would appeal to a lot of juvenile readers.

I really enjoyed the first book of The Last Apprentice series and excited to start on the next one soon. It was a quick read and the plot is uncomplicated, but the characters are interesting, especially the protagonist. I'm looking forward to learning more about the Spook as a person and seeing how their relationships grow.

Normally I wouldn't like this type of book. However this book was referred to me by a close friend so I felt obliged to read it... Mostly to shut him up. But as I kept reading I just couldn't put it down !

I have loved this series since I started reading. It's a very easy read, not corrupted by too much description or by needless language/themes. The writing is imaginative, fun, and even a bit creepy. If you are armed with a sense of adventure, an open mind, and a vivid imagination - these books are for you!

The author does an outstanding job of painting a dark and menacing picture, with enough room for the readers imagination to wander. I would recommend this book for some new and old readers looking for a little fantasy and thrill. I loved it.

Havent finished it yet, but almost done. It is a good read. Wellwritten. Not so addictive that you cant put it down, but keeps you interested so you want to go back to it. I am enjoying it and look forward to reading book 2.

The Last Apprentice was an easy read but the characters were enthralling and I was sorry to see the last page of the book come. Can't wait for the second book in the series. This is one that I will be lending to my son!
