Again, another title most people who have seen the movie instead of reading the novel first. I must admit the Disney version is a classic in and of itself but the book is so much better as is the case with most books made into movies. It is great read and should be enjoyed by children and adults alike.

This slightly more modern translation was perfect for my 8th grader to read for school. The font was a good size and the binding lasted through being thrown in a backpack and taken to school for several weeks in a row.

This is a classic novel that all should read. It is amazing how Jules Verne so well depicted the submarine Nautilus that was not designed until well into the 20th century. It is a very thought provoking novel and quite well written.

This edition has the original illustrations for the book. While they are interesting they are all collected at the end of the novel rather than being placed near the section they intend to depict. This, to my mind, takes from what could have been a first choice for the famous science-fiction classic.

I enjoyed reading about this man's adventures around the world and was inspired to write a lesson plan that follows the journey with the latitude and longitude that was given. I think it would be an extraordinary opportunity to share with the whole family.

We have several of Jim Weiss' recordings. Our entire family enjoys listening to them, especially on long car trips. It's amazing how well my kids listen to these - after being bombarded with fantastic graphics in video games and computer generated special effects in movies, it is refreshing to listen to something so simple, soothing, and interesting all at the same time.
My kids enjoy listening to audio books and narrated stories, and for this I am glad. I plan on picking up more of Jim Weiss' recordings in the future.
If you are looking for something theatrical and over-dramatic, this is NOT it. It is honest, simple, straightforward, and entertaining. Nice way to "detox" from entertainment overload!

Excellent translation of Jules Verne's classic. This version has at least one illustration per chapter. I'm a big fan of Jules Verne's writings and this is one of the better versions I found and it exceeded my expatations.

This is the full edition. I had remembered a less detailed version from my childhood and was looking to read this to elementary school age kids. The rich descriptions are vivid for adults but causes the story to go too slowly for younger readers.

I read this after reading "Mysterious Island" just to get the background story. I think that Verne must have been a botanist and/or marine biologist - he goes into SO much detail on fauna and aquatic wildlife. This distracted from the story for me, I often found myself skipping pages just to get back to the journey.

Several significant portions of this text are missing. I can only assume that the publisher misplaced these pages under their couch cushions, and as an unfortunate consequence, I cannot advise wasting your mony on this edition. Instead, download the Project Gutenberg edition which is free and does not haphzardly cut portions for no reason as this does.

I have been re-reading many of the classics again. Getting back to the basics I suppose. This was a wonderful find and acquisition for my personal library. An e-reader is fine but can fatigue one's eyes when reading at night, with the back-lighted words. There is also something to say about the use of a real book, of quality, in both matters of privacy and overall feel of the book in one's hands. It will be hard to beat, for those who remember what that feels like. :-)
