Our Vampire Queen with the shoe fetish is back. This time Betsy has decided to get a job to pay the bills. Although Jessica is happy to pay for everything, Betsy still feels she should contribute to the effort, and how is she to buy new shoes if she has no money?

Unbeleivably, she gets her dream job, shoe clerk at Macy's. She could be so happy if those pesky vampires would just leave her alone. Unable or unwilling to admit to her feelings for Sinclair, she throws herself into her job.

Unfortunately, her house has termites, so Marc and Jessica inform her they need to buy a mansion on the Hill. When other vampires begin to die, the Queen must investigate and protect her followers. Or so Sinclair says. The fact that the mansion has 11 bedrooms and a room to use as a morgue, finally convinces Betsy that they need to move.

Sinclair and Tina have been staying in a luxury hotel since his house burned down in the last book. Betsy is not sure how she feels about Jessica inviting them to live with them. But she's pretty sure she doesn't like it.

Now they have a gang of Vampire Killers to confront and then they have to discover who is financing them.

Needless to say we have alot of fun and laughter as Betsy, Sinclair, Tina, Marc, and Jessica, as well as a host of others, fumble and stumble their way to the answer.

This is a fun book, you can't put it down.

Book 1 in the Queen Betsy series, "Undead and Unwed," was thoroughly hysterical. Book 2 doesn't achieve the same level of laugh-out-loud hilarity, but it's still a good follow-up and fun read. I'm looking forward to reading the third book, though with perhaps slightly less enthusiasm than I had for the second book. Although the novelty of the Betsy Taylor story has worn off slightly in "Undead and Unemployed," the final chapter (not the Epilogue, but the one preceding it), had me bursting out laughing as did most of the first book. By no means is this a "can't miss" book--and I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone who hasn't read book one--but for those who enjoyed the first book in the series, I'd recommend this second one.

Betsy Taylor Queen of the Vampires is back with another hilarious, sexy, thoroughly entertaining tale.

It's been three months since Betsy has been undead, she decides she needs a job. Where else would the lover of shoes work but Macy's Shoe department. As Betsy tries to settle into her new job, someone is killing off vampires. Since Betsy is the Queen she must act. She also must turn too sexy as sin Sinclair for help and protection. To say the least Betsy is not having a good week.

MaryJanice Davidson brings another wickedly funny chapter in Betsy Taylor's reign as Queen. I laughed out loud so many times, its hysterical. Loved that Sinclair was around to push Betsy's buttons in and out of the Queens bed.

Looking forward to the next undead chapter in Betsy's life.

This book continues the undead adventures of Elizabeth Taylor, aka Betsy, Queen of the Vampires. And as with the first book, Betsy is as reluctant as ever to play ruler of a bunch of undead that she doesn't even find interesting or amusing.

Betsy does find herself a dream job, selling shoes at Macys, but the real plot of this book is Betsy stumbling her way through the undead, and still living world. Again, she finds herself joined by her still breathing comrades in arms, Jessica and Dr. Mark. Also making a return appearance is Betsy's "consort" Sinclair. Rest assured, Betsy still hasn't completely forgiven his deception from the first book. Thats not to say that she doesn't appreciate a fine looking man.

These books are fun, silly, laugh-out-loud funny and incredibly quick reads. They really aren't meant for deep analysis. I give the book 4 stars instead of 5 because Ms Davidson skips over some details which feels just the slightest bit lazy. For instance, what happened to Betsy's cat? Or Sinclair's "sheep"? But these are minor triffles. The book is meant to amuse and entertain, and it does so on both counts. Betsy is a hilarious heroine who appeals to me on most every level. Especially the shoe fetish.

This book was a quick, fun read. The dialogue sometimes confused me as to who was talking, but basically it was an easy read. As vampires go, this book is not the dark type of vampire story. Queen Betsy is a reluctant vampire queen. She's really into shoes more than vampire politics. She also has a hunky consort whom she tries to deny - she doth protest too much. In this novel she is charged with solving the mystery of who is going around killing vampires.

Not so many laughs here, but more character development for Sinclair, and more development of the romance. The small misses (like a different attitude about the Mall of America than in book 1) had no real effect on this reader's enjoyment of the book. Less earthy than the first, and perhaps not quite as tight, but still delightful and fun. Maybe 4.85 stars. Betsy does nearly become, as she herself states, too stupid to live, but she's always been a flighty character -- that's been part of her charm. A shoe-crazy bimbo as queen of the vampires! The big pull here is the better use of Sinclair and the furtherance of the romance. Nice.

Valley-gal-turned-vampire Betsy returns in this comedic romance sequel. What started off amusing seemed to have fallen a little flat in this novel. Betsy's air-brained antics can only take you so far. Plus her "love/hate relationship" with Sinclair gets a bit old. To be honest, I think Sinclair's a little too good for Betsy. Betsy dishes on him for most of the book, and then suddenly is hopelessly attracted to him? Please. I guess I dislike the "I LOVE you I hate you crud." Its boring. Plus I found the story about the murdered kid and the outcome... Exceedingly creepy. Instead of feeling uplifted at the end of that subplot thread I found it disturbing. I don't care for maudlin stuff in my humorous romance. 3 stars. An average read. Nothing to get excited about.

Betsy Taylor, (unwilling) Queen of the Undead, is still getting used to her position, her newly undead lifestyle and her lack of income. Taking matters into her own hands, she gets a new job selling designer shoes and barely has time to pin on her nametag before her Queenly duties start interfering and vampires are getting murdered in Betsy's own city.

This book is funny and light-hearted. It makes a great break between heavier books.

Note: I also posted this review on Goodreads.

I was very much looking forward to this one because Undead & Unwed hit all of the right notes for me. Unfortunately, for the most part, I was seriously disappointed. Nothing much at all seemed to be happening besides lots of quips being thrown about. Sadly, they lacked the bite and fun of the 1st book or maybe I'm just a complete crab. Also, the sexual tension, which was so much a part of book #1, seems to be nearly non-existent here :(

Eventually things picked up and this was an amusing enough read but it did not live up to the promise and originality of Undead & Unwed. Still, I like Davidson's sass and will read the next in the series.

I've been looking forward to UNDEAD AND UNEMPLOYED ever since I read UNDEAD AND UNWED. And I have to say I was not disappointed. In fact, I think her second foray into the UNDEAD series far surpasses her first.

Betsy's back and has a job in Heaven (the Mall of the Americas) in Macy's shoe store. The very sexy Sinclair plays a more prominent role, which is always a good thing, I think. The cast of whacky characters mixed in with vampire-like terror, really works for me, since I get the best of both worlds--some humor with a lot of action thrown in.

I've been told that Ms Davidson has a three book deal with Berkley. Note to publishing house: her fans are hoping this series goes on much longer than that.

I love this series! The Queen of the vampires is hilarious and all of the references to Minnesota are the best! If you like a good laugh and some R-rated scenes, this series is for you. MaryJanice Davidson does an amazing job of making a vain, shrill, idiot vampire not only likeable but gets you to root for her. I highly recommend.

Sometimes you come across an author who can keep the good things coming. Mary Janice Davidson is such an author. When you buy a sequel to a good book, you're never sure what you're going to get. Queen Betsy continues to be one of my favorite characters. In this one, she has to get a job and, lo and behold!, she manages to get one in a shoe store (could it be any better for a person with a shoe fetish?). From there until the end of the book, I was rolling with laughter. I recommend grabbing this book and reading it cover to cover with no breaks. I promise it will be worth it!

I can be a really picky reader sometimes. Out of approximately 5 books, I will enjoy one of them (if I'm lucky) but I read fiction because of those rare books that grabs my attention and pulls me in. As you can tell from my rating, this is one of those books. If you're holding out because you think the plot seems a bit absurd like I did, then it's the wrong reason not to read Undead & Unwed or Undead & Unemployed.

I too read all the wonderful comments about this book and thought to myself, "It can't be that good." But after reading it, it is... It really really is. My only complaint is that the book was too short!! I can't wait for the next installment. Does anyone know when it's coming? Soon? :D

This was another great book! Again, we have Besty being sassy, and sarcastic and trying to cope with being a vampire Queen. The plot was good, and the characters were great! I loved that Betsy is slowly trying to figure out her feelings for Sinclair! Can't wait to read the next book!

The 2nd in the Undead series...Betsy returns as the flightly, shoe-obsessed 'Queen'. Still somewhat oblivious to vampire politics, still upset with Eric (her new King), and well, still just Betsy. She's funny, sexy, and playing the games her way. Deciding that she needs to work again, she lands a job at Macy's in the shoe department. However, vampire issues quickly interfere. She's dealing with Eric, a group of vampire slayers, and visiting vampires - all there to meet her, the new Queen. MJD again delivers a funny, sassy story.

This book was amazing. I loved how Erick Sinclare was in it a lot. When they got together i was like !yay! then it all went down hill i was really surprised by the killer. Also by the stepmom being preg and her biomom not caring. I highly recomend this book to everyone. It is one of the best books i have read in a while it only took me one day. i'm totaly geting the next one!

This is one funny "vampire novel"! There's a string of vampire killings, but it's the vampires who are being murdered! So Betsy, as Queen of the vamps, must put an end to it. You'll laugh at her hilarious woes and want to know what happens next. Now I gotta read "Undead and Unwed."

Having seen the title of Ms. Davidson's first books, and thinking it sounded too silly, I read a short story in the anthology Cravings, and was hooked. True, this series is silly, but it is also engaging, hilarious, and a welcome departure from all of the ditz-seduced-by-overpowering-male-vampire books. First of all, the heroine is a ditz, but she is also more powerful than our hero, and it seems more as if he is being seduced by her than the other way around. I love vampire books, and these are the best of them all.

I love this series. The main character is so vain and selfish, but she loves her friends. I absolutly love Sinclair and want more! I wish this book was longer! The end was a little down because I wasn't surprised, but I still would recommend this book.

I love all Maryjanice Davidson's books, but especially the Undead books they are so funny and I can't wait for the next one. Elizabeth Taylor and Eric Sinclair make a great couple, and elizabeth is the one woman he can't intimidate with his scary but gorgous presence.

MaryJanice Davidson is one of my fav authors. This was the first one I ever read. I actually saw this at a walmart & and bought it. This was a really funny book and I LOVED Sinclair. Lol.
I reread this novel alot until the next one came out.

Betsy is a funny childish character. She doesn't act--or talk like 30 years old woman. Her love is shoes is funny, and I feel the same way about mine.

Undead and Unwed captured me and I was totally on the lookout for Undead and Unemployed. I finally got my hands on it and I absolutely loved this book! The book is SO funny and it will not fail to give you the out-loud giggles when reading this. I enjoy reading about her relationship with the sexy Eric Sinclair and the mystery of the "Puppet Master", a benefactor to the Blade Warriors and the mastermind behind the vampire murders taking place. Witty, vain, and hilarious Betsy tells another wonderful tale in this book!

I really enjoyed this book, so much that I recently read the others in the series. I read ALOT, and it is nice to find a book that combines so many of the qualities I like. The author has a wicked sense of humor, a clean easy to follow style of writing, a good sense of character, and her books actually had the ability to give me a few hours of enjoyable escape from the rat race of life.

If you want a escape into the fun and quirky world of vampire fiction, give this a try.

A little light on plot. While the premise of this series is amusing, the author needs to spend a little more time on her books instead of cranking them out one after the other. The plot was not in the least bit compeling and the main character was just plain annoying. I'll give her points for Sinclair. He has some "Angel" like qualities. In-depth storytelling this ain't. Good for the morning train commute into the city.

I received the book on Fri and finished reading it on Sat :)

This book ... I find it really hard to identify who says what. Who said 'I never listen - that pisses me off'? I even had to read over the dialogs more than once just to understand what's happening or who said that.

Also, too little on the relationship between the King and the Queen ;p

Perhaps I need to read book 3 first?

UNDEAD AND UNEMPLOYED IS THE SEQUL TO UNDEAD AND UNWED. I LOVE MARYJANICE DAVIDSON'S UNDEAD SERIES. THIS ONE MADE ME LAUGH MY B-U-T-T OFF (I wish:). I HAVE NEVER LAUGHED SO HARD IN MY LIFE OVER A BOOK. SO, IF YOU LOVED READING UNDEAD AND UNWED YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE THIS ONE MORE. I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT ONE.

These are pretty much a rip off of Charlaine Harris books. Poorly written romance fluff. I was expecting better. Characters are cardboard and plot is....well, pretty much non-existant & she tries to hard for the laughs. Harris did it so much better.

I'm glad I didn't buy this book but I won't even look for more in the library.

I really enjoyed Davidson's first installment with Undead and Unwed. Undead and Unemployed was just as funny and brings in a few sneaks of possible future subplots. The relationship between Besty and her King heats up and the Stepmonster becomes even more grusome. Enjoy!!

I love all the characters... especially Sinclair (for the obvious reasons). This book a fun and easy read. I read it in a matter of hours because it was just too good to put down. I look forward to the upcoming books in this series. It should be interesting to see what happens to Betsy next.

The second in MaryJanice Davidson's Undead series is the best so far. Marvelously funny, witty, and clever. Who would hav thought that chick lit and the supernatural would go together like Carpina sandals and an Allison Patch handbag. Very chic and "biting".
