Words can't express some of the emotions I experienced while reading this book. Some of this story hit very close to home , so it was nice to see an author deal with some real world issues in such a way.

Cannot wait for book 2!

If you are willing to take a strangers advice, mine is -- Read. This. Book.
I have read most available books in the litrpg genre, and while usually a fun time, they are not always compelling. This one is. The characters have both a depth and a lightness that makes this book shine among its peers. Also, copious monster killing, which is always cool. I will immediately be adding this to my re-reads shelf, and I would like to exhort the author to produce a sequel as I really want to know what happens next! :-)

Very very good LitRPG book. It can stand alone as a story about old gamers having one last adventure, but has plenty of plot elements to continue on to the next book or two...or three...or even more. And I very much want more.
This is Our Land (Emerilia Book 5) :: Gamer for Life (Alpha World Book 1) :: A Guide to Putting CAN SLIM Concepts into Action - How to Make Money in Stocks Getting Started :: Eden's Gate: The Arena: A LitRPG Adventure :: Sufficiently Advanced Magic - Arcane Ascension - Book 1

How many LitRPG stories do Real and Game both with an equally deft touch? How many characters would you actually want to add to your own circle of friends?
Daniel manages to draw up an extremely real feeling group of characters, enemies, allies and even NPCs. He pulls powerfully from the human elements that define us but yet are too often neglected in other's stories. While reading, I exclaimed out loud and moments later teared up.
Mr. Schinhofen, thank you, Sir. Your labor of love is simply Excellent. Edit for a few minor word miscues (both - booth) and get Last Horizon done in hardcover.

A truly great read. I never include spoilers so look elsewhere for that. But if you want a story that really touches you (especially if you are around the age of the MC) then buy this book. I will be really pissed if what I want to happen in the second book (which I hope is shortly coming) doesn't. I think anyone who has read and loved this book as I have will know what I am talking about. BTW, not heavy in game mechanics, more about the relationships than pure gaming.

This story is incredible. With a good editor, this would easily be 5 stars. The vr world and the npc's feels real to me while the quests are interesting and well conceived.
The author needs to look at one section of the book where the characters levels jump down a couple of levels. The characters were at level 14 and 15, then in the next chapter they are back to level 12 and 13. Easily fixed by an editor.

No long term story arc. No plot twist or surprises really. Its just about old people playing a game. Not bad but not a top 1,000 .It does drag a bit but good character development. Oh and crap abilities too.

Missing words abound, lack of editing was very distracting, the deviant sexual scenes were stomach turning and inappropriate without some warning to the readers.
I sincerely regret that the author wasted my time by printing this trash and truly loathe the fact that he received any of my money.

At first it started slow but it quickly changed after the introduction of Amethyst and as they built up their team. I love how big of a part the NPC play in Daniel's stories, they're so alive, Bjorn was probably my favorite NPC and Terets being my favorite player I loved his assassin thief like build. Overall all of the characters are so real, dealing with the normal struggles and pain of life it's hard not to fall in love with them. I first got this book waiting for Alpha Company but I think I have a new favorite series.

I enjoyed Last Horizon: Beta. There were a lot of things I liked about it. It had older characters. It was about a group of characters instead of just one MC. The players win based on skill instead of some OP gimmick. The story dealt with disability issues. There was a story. It wasn't a giant compendium of stat blocks. There was a good balance between in-game sections and real world sections.
