Started slow but the twists and turns kept me coming back. The end leaves you wanting more. This book was recommended by the store after completing The Gifting series by K.E. Ganshert. I am going to start reading book two, The Resistance now.

Other than the the "defects" of the characters, they appeared to have real feelings and behaviors. Enjoyed the human side of the story it made it more enjoyable to read. Disappointed when I realized I had to wait for book 2.

Personally, I loved it, it was realistic and explored the concept of love interests without making it the subject of the entire book. I can honestly say that I didn't expect it to be this good! It was waiting in my library for a month and I've finished it in a little less than a day! Highly recommend it !!!

This book was very exciting, and had a good plot. I couldn't put it down and started staying up late to finish it. It had an interesting twist near the middle of the book which made the rest even better.

Great scenes in this book . My only problem with it is that it took way too long to set up. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed reading about this world but I was a little disappointed in the beginning and the end. I will be reading the next book. Hope it's full of action because I struggled to get through the beginning of this one. Also I think chad is dreamy and I'm all the way team Tate. I hope his situation improves fast.

This was a unique dystopian novel with an interesting premise. It was a quick read, but the plot moved a bit slowly, and there were some grammatical errors that detracted from the overall reading experience. I was also annoyed with the minor language and with the sexual references as well. However, the author did a good job developing dynamic characters, and the novel had an unexpected plotline, which made it pretty enjoyable.

This young adult novel was written in an engaging first person. The main character, Allira, was living in a dystopian world where normal human beings are afraid of, arrest, and torture other humans with supernatural abilities known as "defectives." Although the plot of the novel was engaging, it was at times very slow. The main character could not seem to catch on to the motives of those around her even when it was VERY clear to the audience.
The novel absolutely needs a good editing from a professional, but this did not take away too horribly from the storyline. The plot should probably have progressed more significantly in this first novel as it felt more like half a book. Overall, it's a fun read, but I won't be paying for the sequel.
