If you're looking for a fictional escape to Minnesota with characters that have made this series very interesting up until now, you'll be very disappointed with WKK's latest in the series. Sulfur Springs seems to have been slapped together as quickly as possible in order to get in on the hot topic of illegal immigration. The old characters are missing, there's too many new characters, the most interesting new character is the waitress, who isn't even a main character, and the book JUST WOULDN'T END! Spoiler Alert. You'll read the last page and say to yourself "I want my time back".

William Kent Krueger never disappoints. We've read every book and eagerly await the next one. We've gone back to re-read an earlier one, as he says the character will re-appear in the next book! We want to be ready!

Compelling and well-written. Excellent story-telling. Although fictional, important elements of contemporary issues reveal themselves in the story. I hope the story generates deep dialogue about human rights in our world and the challenges they present to nations.

Have read all Krueger's books. Have even met him. He's smart, a very good writer, and likeable too. Unfortunately, over time, his books have become more political ... to the point where I no longer think they're worth reading. His views on immigration, while understandable emotionally, make no sense whatsoever when it comes to preserving a country. P.S. He made a big mistake killing off Jo.
