I like the premise, but found the cursing by the hero and villian to be off-putting. It served little to no purpose other than showing the author knows how to use the F word. I did not finish reading the book, due to the gratuitous language.

Really good series by one of my favorite authors. All three of these are really enjoyable books with plenty of turns and twists.

What a great series marred by poor editing. Just like the first four books, this one has numerous misspellings, words that don't go where they are being used and other errors.

I really like the series, but damn, somebody needs to proof these better. The other series of Cranes that I've ready (Sanctuary) had little or no error so I am wondering what happened here.

After reading the Sanctuary series, I delved in and found other of Mr. Crane's series to explore. This one is the most like it in content, of the series I've read.
Southern Watch is, however, aimed at a more mature audience. The opening chapter is ...quite sexually explicit. I'm not complaining, but fair warning.
I have an overall good opinion of this series. The issues I have are of an editorial nature, rather than with content. Proofreading seems to be a lost art, and that's not limited to this series or author.
Overall, recommended ADULT reading.

OK, why does the original character seem to always be getting his ass kicked. Hard. And then, we find ourselves in the midst of a melee, and he's slicing and dicing like a Veg-O-Matic. Confusing.
Also, how is it that the demons can lose a limb and not get sent back, but a crack by the hip-bone can eliminate one from our team? Inquiring minds want to know! Lol.

I have read "The Girl in the Box" series by Mr Crane, so I thought I'd give this series a chance.
I can't remember the last time I read a book with demons in it, so I was prepared to drop these books after the first chapter.
Didn't happen.
A religious Deputy Sheriff, his Assistant Grocery Store Manager wife, her father, a duster wearing, sword carrying Demon Hunter, and two badge carrying Demon representatives fight more and more demons as they break the Demon Covenants and try to destroy a small Tennessee town.
I know it looks like a run-on sentence, but I couldn't find a place to put a period except after town.
The story continues in book four, which I'm going to read as soon as I hit SUBMIT at the bottom of this review.
Mr Crane, you can TELL a story. Ok, write.

As with the other series by this author, I absolutely love this series. The character development fit the pace and direction of the story. These books keep you guessing what is going to happen next, and to whom. Fantastic read. Waiting a little unpatiently for next book in the series. While others think the story is dark and crude, there is that tiny sliver of hope. I think the people are very realistic and true to form for everyday people fighting demons.

After reading the Girl in the Box series & the Sanctuary series, I was thrilled to find out out Robert Crane had another series for me to dive into. Definitely not what I had expected. Southern Watch? I was honestly expecting a southern romance LOL I was blown away, rich character development with great story arc. The characters you expect to hate you end up loving and the ones you love piss you off but you love'em anyway. Really great story

WARNING! This series is very dark and gritty. Keep that in mind and dont be shocked at some of the content. That said, the shock factor and the plot twists is what keeps this series so interesting. As one of many readers from Sanctuary and the Girl in/out of the Box series, I can honestly say the author keeps pushing out terrific literature book after book.

Given the graphic nature of some of the villains, I will not go into depth in the contents of Sothern Watch - but if your into dark urban fiction, everything including from demons, to swords, and more (in a modern setting!) please give a try!

There are a couple of things you're going to need with this series.

1. An open mind
2. Brain bleach.

This author never fails to impress. This series is very very different from the other works by the author. And in some ways, it's like he lets loose. Exuberent, and gloriously, unapologetically disturbing in places, this is a hugely enjoyable series.

OMG...this series is AWESOME!!!! Just when you think you know what is going to happen you get blind sighted. The author Robert J. Crane has 3 PHENOMENAL series going and to me the Southern Watch series is by far something you should read.Seeing a God fearing police officer teaming up with a Demon Hunter doesn't get any better. I strongly urge you to read this series and his other series "Sanctuary" and "Girl in the Box / Girl out of the Box"., as quick paced as Southern Watch is to read I wish he put out more books in this series as he does for Girl in the Box / Girl out of the Box series

Definitely a page turner. If you like Mr. Crane' s other series you will like this. It has action, the snarky humor that his readers have come to love & a lot of twists! The author doesn't shy at killing off characters that you have come to love. It's heart breaking but, it keeps you on your toes. His story makes me want more!

After reading and enjoying the Sanctuary series, then The Girl In The Box, followed by Out Of The Box series, Southern Watch series is quite a bonus. From the minute I started reading Southern Watch I couldn't put each book down until I finished it .Each characters (good or evil) persona jump out at you and some do capture your heart as well as with Sanctuary and both "Box" series. I can't wait for the next Southern Watch book!!!!

I love all of Robert J Crane's work! This series is different from his others, but I love it. I love how the characters develop. It can be very graphic at times, but it's not without reason and furthers the plot.

Why oh why do some authors think they have to put graphic sex crap in everything? Would have read it if reviews hadn't warned me of this. Sounded like a really interesting story line, but, no thank you, I don't need to hear about a demon's jizz while he self pleasures himself. Barf!

I have been following this series since it first came out. It is grate, suspenseful, long books and very unique supernatural series. Follows in good detail about who what when and where
If you like these types of books, this is the series for you! Love love love 'em

Great little series with demon killing in it. If naughty words offend you don't get it. If you like reading about demon hunters fighting and stabbing things with some humor and naughty words thrown in then this is a series for you.
I have purchased the other two books in the series and I am waiting impatiently for the next book in the series. For the author: Please dance for my entertainment and publish book six. Thank you.

Not nearly as good as the Sanctuary series, but I will likely read the whole thing. Not a huge fan of the graphic sex stuff, but it is what it is. Decent character development thus far with a few twists I did not expect.

Who would ever consider a small Tennessee town could be filled with demons and possibly the very ground where Armageddon begins? A well written set with lots of natural and super natural action. A definite page turner that's hard to put down. Welcome to Midian Tennessee. Hope you enjoy the ride.

Great series! It does get a bit twisted, so if you have a weak stomach, or don't like dark tales, be aware. It IS a series about hunting demons, demons do demonic things so.... Characters and plot are great! I can't wait for the next one to come out!
