This book was easy to follow and understand. Thank you for writing this book!!! I would highly recommend to anyone who is a beginner to computer programming. I have read other confusing programming text but this book was well organized and understandable.

Nice book.
Wish it pointed to material on the web, but it is really readable, and 'm learning a lot.
Could also use an index.
Thanks, Mr. Chan.
fyi: I wrote my first python program yesterday using Project Euler Problem 2, and IDLE for python, on a HP desktop for Windows. I'm picking it up much faster than Objective-C++ on Apple.

Short, sweet, and to the point. This isn't designed to be an in depth tutorial for Python but it will get you up and running fast. Isn't that the whole point? And the Table of Contents makes an excellent lookup guide while learning.

Great intro to python and programming. It really does get you started right away. Well organized and optimal time spent on each subject for this introduction.
If you are trying to learn if python and or programming is/are right for you, this will be the perfect. I'd reccomend it , especially for this purpose.

Would prefer to give accurate rating later but site 'demands' a star:
It looks like a great book - I bought it to prep; don't want to review cause I haven't started (next month). Feel free to 'call back'

The book lacked contextual examples, and explanations. In other words, as someone with ZERO programming experience, it would be helpful if the author showed more visual examples of an "end product", and how that was coded. Most of it was in paragraph form. The absolute best example of contextual instruction in programming is book entitled: HTML AND CSS by John Duckett, which clearly explains in both text and visually.

The reality is, most programmers are NOT skilled in simplifying or explaining programming concepts to beginners with no programming background. Smart as they may be in the specific coding language, teaching is a whole other skill set. Frankly, the information in this book is what you can obtain for free online, especially at W3Schools.

Very, very basic, if you have any background in programming this book will get you programming in Python in a few hours work. If you are new to coding, then you'll indeed need the full day, but you will get there. But it is exactly that...you will gain a basic understanding and will be able to write simple programs. Anything more than that, you will have to get other resources, but as the first step, given how fast you can go through it is exactly as described in the title...well I wouldn't use the "learn it well" since this book only scratches the surface, but is what you would expect for a basic beginners introduction. It is well written and the author has the ability to communicate his ideas well.

As someone who is interested in the coding world, I have to say this book gave me both the motivation to begin and it literally holds your hand through the entire process of the learning. The best thing about learning python is that if you can learn this language, then all other coding languages will be easier to learn and the learning curve for coding in general will be cut in half because all codes are similar. Highly recommend this book even if you are a complete newbie on coding. Thank you for this book

I have [attempted to] read about 3 books on Python programming language, that claim they can teach a basic understanding of the language by the books end. While I started them all simultaneously, this has been the one that I have gravitated towards, because it is the most well written in the English language, and does the beat job explaining the concepts in context, to an individual who is truly new to programming, in general, rather than a seasoned coder, learning a new language. Many examples are progressively given for each concept. While I don't believe many beginners will truly "Learn Python in a day", my progress has undeniably leaped forward, thanks exclusively to this book.
