I found this book a practical and refreshing take on getting your home decluttered and organized. I particularly liked the chapter on having a more minimalist mindset and learning to let go of attachments to stuff. I've lived in the same house for nearly 20 years, and this book is exactly what I need as a road-map to get started with organizing. Doing it in 10 minute increments fits perfectly with my busy work schedule. I also love how the authors provide info on a variety of products for getting each room in shape. I'll be using this book daily over the next few months.

This book breaks down decluttering into very manageable time blocks, excellent for those who are overwhelmed by the level of clutter in their surroundings. The success in this method is found in the 10 minutes a day that becomes a habit. Establishing this habit is key to making declutter a way of life. I have not yet found the magic 10 minutes a day, but when I did it for a week, I made a ton of progress. Well worth the purchase!

I just completed day 120 of 10 minute decluttering. I am on the last room in my house - the dreaded "spare room". I've made several trips to Goodwill and the library and I feel much lighter. The thing that made the biggest difference came from Step #4: Pick a Time for Decluttering -> before I can have coffee in the morning. That spurred me on to get it done.

I have read lots of organizing books and applied their techniques. This one is sustainable. Once I finish this final room I plan to start over. I'm sure there is another layer to take care of.

It's unrealistic that you could get much of anything done in 10 minutes. Maybe a drawer or two, but to think that you would accomplish getting an entire house well organized and cleaned, it would just keep inching back to where it was.

Although many of the tips given are certainly useful, the authors repeat points too much, which causes distraction to the reader. Perhaps they should try to declutter the book, bringing it down to basics.

Wow! Great title and book from the "Habit Guru" S.J. Scott and Barrie Davenport. If you have some clutter at your house like I do--you need this book, '10-Minute Declutter: The Stress-Free Habit For Simplifying Your Home'. In reading this book I found some real gems about taking care of some problem areas in my office with strategies that will make the job easily manageable in 10 minute increments. Scott and Davenport give clear and concise actionable strategies anyone can implement in short bursts of time. In this book, I learned that with daily decluttering habits, mindset and commitment any clutter can be tackled and order can be restored--here's an action plan to get it done! The authors cover 14 benefits of decluttering, why we hold on to our possessions, how to cash in on our clutter, how to form a decluttering habit in 8 steps, and creating rewards for your success, the best room to start in, 15 questions to ask as you declutter, such as 'Do I already own something similar?" Something I never thought about is covered very well in this book-How to Stage Your Declutter Habit--and supplies to buy to begin that will make you more effective. What I really love is the detail checklist for each room and how to tackle it, such as kitchens and maybe keeping your counters unclutter free zones, how to declutter the laundry room and sorting kids toys-that's a big one at our house. I'm going to start with their suggestion for the desk and using "zones" and digitizing important papers easily. Great book for anyone who has gathered a small amount of clutter all the way to the well-cluttered home. I highly recommend this new habit book from S.J Scott and Barrie Davenport to those who can't even begin to declutter but who long to make better use of their space. Grab a copy today and be inspired to get organized--and see how it changes so many things in your life including your happiness! I highly recommend this book!

10-Minute Declutter was written for people who are overwhelmed by their once-cherished possessions. This book is a systematic guide that will help you take back your home and time by adopting what S.J. Scott and Barrie Davenport call the decluttering habit. It will accompany you from your kitchen to your garage and basement, including those unsightly and overburdened drawers, closets and cabinets. The authors explain the importance of anchoring this new habit to something that you already do on a daily basis, such as waking up, making coffee or putting your children to bed.

The beauty of the system is that it enables you to declutter regardless of your time constraints. They help you understand and reject the reasons that you are holding onto stuff that you do not need and know that you will never use. 10-Minute Declutter also has a useful list of items like a timer and stick-on labels that will make your declutter program more efficient. It also includes a list of questions designed to help you make quick decisions. For example, “Is the information that the item provides outdated?” The chapter on Decluttering Your Office will reduce the time that you spend looking for important documents amidst non-essential papers.

The book also discusses the best way to store or display items that you keep like men’s ties, denim jeans and children’s toys. In addition, 10-Minute Declutter has links to online resources as well as thrift store charities where you can sell or donate these items. Disclosure: I received an advanced copy of this book for my honest review. I would recommend it to a friend or anyone who wants to change their view of material possessions and simplify their home.

Quick read, could have been a long essay. Authors basically tell you over and over again to put everything in a box, clean the space, put back what you keep and get rid of the rest. Not a lot of concrete tips on how to do this though.
Probably not a bad deal for the price, but really not much useful information.

Ever felt a bit cluttered in your own home? Don’t know where to start with all this stuff? Need a way to break down the steps to just get it done? The 10 Minute Declutter EBook is the perfect book for some awesome decluttering tips and keeping yourself accountable. All you do is spend 10 minutes a day in the area that needs some attention and eventually that mountain becomes a mole hill, then an an ant hill, then it’s gone!

Summer is about to come to an end and I’m sure over the last few months you have accumulated a decent amount of clutter. Those quick trips to a fast food restaurant after one of your kids’ baseball games … those little toys take up space. Did you take a couple of family trips? Did you manage to haul home a few things you haven’t even looked at since the trip? What about the random garage sales you know you begged your spouse to stop at just to “look” and you walked away with a few treasures that are still in the corner by the dining table. Haha, it’s okay! I’m guilty of it too.

The 10 Minute Declutter book gives you some awesome insight why you are holding onto that clutter, how to make some serious cash out of your unneeded belongings and how to use this 10 minute strategy each and every day of your life. Also gives you specific questions to ask yourself as you go through your clutter.

This book is very practical, it will tell you to buy a few things to help with the process. I know that seems counter productive, but it is very essential to the process! Then it breaks down how to declutter and organize each and every room in your house. And finally how to create a daily decluttering habit.

I used all the steps in this book prior to getting ready to pack up my home to move across country - helped TREMENDOUSLY!
I received this book in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion

This is definitely a must read for anyone considering the process of decluttering his and/or her home. While most of the things mentioned in the book were things I already knew, it helped to have this as a type of support system to get me motivated again. I have recommended this book to a number of friends, who love it as much as I do. This book also came in handy when I recently had to empty an inherited household with over 60 years of "stuff accumulation."
While the task of decluttering may seem daunting at first, by breaking it down into manageable chunks, and adopting decluttering habits, a house eventually becomes clutter-free and stress-free.

Having lived in the same home for almost 38 years, I have found it more and more difficult to get motivated to organize all the items we’ve accumulated over the years. We’ve had yard sales, donated to organizations and thrown out many unnecessary or unwanted things fairly often but it seems it is not enough and have slowed down in my efforts.
This book was a helpful push to getting motivated again but doing it more of a habit than as a seasonal objective. The 14 Benefits of the decluttering habit are going to go a list that I can see and be reminded of daily along with the commitment to declutter at least 10 minutes a day, something which is definitely doable! Thanks

I really enjoyed reading this book. The first half is all about why we struggle decluttering, reasons to declutter and how to declutter. The second half goes through step by step, each room so you have a guide of sorts to push your through your decluttering journey.

Just reading the first couple of chapters you feel like you're itching to get up and go declutter. You have motivation to want to do. You know you feel better when you get into a freshly made bed right? Well the rest of the house works the same way! I know I feel happier when my kitchen counters are clear and the sinks are empty and clean. So I knew I had to implement some of the things in this book.

I also signed up for the authors freebies via their mailing list and those are great resources too!

Step 1 in reducing your clutter = get this book on kindle :) I did, and it's well formatted.

Disclosure: I received this book for free in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions are my own. If you find this review useful please leave feedback, and feel free to ask questions :)

This book’s clear, concise and to the point. It starts with some great reasons to declutter. It’s filled with actionable ideas, and although there’re some ideas I have heard before, there’re also quite a few good tidbits. The author states that 10 minutes daily is only a recommendation. You are free to do more or less... I guess the most important point is that SOMETHING is done every day! And hopefully, creating a habit that will carry on throughout your life.
Highly recommend to people who want to declutter, organize and/or minimalize their home.

full disclosure, I received a copy of this book for reviewing purposes.
This book is a little different in how it approaches this problem, as it is very simple and gives you a step by step outline on directly tackling cluttered areas of your home. The authors are very specific on time limits, strategies, and the hows, without too much focus on the whys. Most books on this topic tend to focus on the emotional part of clutter, while neglecting any good advice on how to attack the physical issue. The authors touch on guilt and attachment to things, but for the most part, this book gives the physical strategy.

At first, I thought the book was perhaps too simplistic and wondered why anyone would buy something like this, when the information is free on many blogs across the net. However, it occurred to me that clutter is often caused, (or excused) by distraction and being overwhelmed. The free information is accompanied by ads, popups, links, images, and a myriad of other things to take away your focus. So,actually, a simple book is the better way to keep focused on the decluttering task. After all, it is easier to declutter your house with an uncluttered mind.

One shining star feature of this section is the discussion of anchoring your daily decluttering session to a task you already do each day at the same time. This is to help turn your declutter sessions into a habit.
The rest of the chapters are a step by step guide to using 10 minute increments to declutter one area of your home at a time.

The themes and ideas presented in this book are not revolutionary, but they are clearly outlined and organized in a way that is easy to stay focused on the job.
If clutter is a problem in your life and you are aware and admit it, then this book can be a good resource in your armory to fix the problem. It is a good complimentary guide to add to a more in depth book.

I recommend the kindle version over the print version, since there are some urls in the book.

This book is filled with down-to-earth suggestions that will work to help you clear your clutter...and your head. I especially like the suggestions about decluttering your kitchen, your family room, and your OFFICE (!) If you have a house full of things you've acquired in the past and feel overwhelmed by it all, you might be surprised at how much you can do in 10 minutes. But it's true. I've tried it in the past, and it works. For me, the best part is how much more in control of your life you feel as you look around at a clean, orderly room afterwords. You get a big reward for a small effort. Try it now, just to see for yourself. Then buy the book. It gives you lots of tips that will help.

The sheer amount of ideas in this book is staggering. Scott and Davenport goes through every imaginable room in the house and gives you implementable ideas on how to simplify and declutter yourself. And all that is after a book-length discussion on decluttering as a science. Plus, I found the special bonus included in the book very helpful!

The instructions were very easy to implement. I am in the process of moving and liked how the 10 minute nugget segments were easily organized. I already started to use the process in getting my things in order. Thoroughly enjoyable. A must read for anyone to use for either moving or downsizing..even empty nesters.

Great book. Although I haven't put the words into action YET, I found the book to be very encouraging. It broke down the massive task of organizing my home into simple tasks that I can do a little bit at a time. I would highly recommend this book.

A very calming explanation on how to "declutter". If you start to clean your refrigerator, after 10 minutes, you just may as well keep going! The same goes for everything else. Just knowing how simple it all could be, gets you fired up.
