This alternate Star Wars back story gives us a look at just what an ice blooded baddie Boba Fett really is. Those expecting the noble heroics of the usual SW stories had better look elsewhere, this noir stuff of the blackest hearted kind. Chock full of back stabbing and double dealing (and the resulting bloodletting), The Mandalorian Armor satisfies, but you might find yourself wanting a breath of fresh air afterwards. Recommended.

The book starts out with Dengar exploring the ruins of Jaba's sail barge on Tatooine. Then the story goes back and forth between Dengar and just after The New Hope about Boba Fett and some trap that Prince Xizor (his ship the Virgo is really cool [still not as good as Slave 1]) has set to destroy the Bounty Hunters Guild (its really confusing until you read all three books) until they meet up at the very end of the book.
This is a very good book because it tells more about Boba Fett's story and about Prince Xizor. I think Fett talked a little too much at the end but otherwise he was as cold and, as non-talkative as ever. The store line is exiting, it can get confusing at times but that just makes for a better surprise. As in another review I think Zuckuss was out off character from Tales of the Bounty Hunters, acting more like a child rather than a bounty hunter. This book is also very good because it changes plots so it doesn't get boring, it can get confusing though. The book does not involve Han, Luke and Leia but after finishing the book its good any way.

IF you like books with action, thrill, and adventure then you will love thisbook. This is a must-read for any Boba Fett fan. It is kindof a "Reveal Boba Fett's nearpast book". It takes you from the Imperial Center(Coruscant) to Tatooine, and to the Bounty Hunters Guild. It is a stroy of deception, due to the Empire planing to wipe out the BHG. If you love Star Wars books, read this one.

...WATCH THE MOVIES FIRST!
The author seemed to miss out on some finer points of Star Wars trivia (such as: Bossk was not Zuckuss' partner; 4-LOM was), and had trouble in adjective use (EVERY SINGLE TIME he tried to describe Boba Fett, or a character mentioned Boba Fett, the word 'barve' was used to describe him. For instance: "You better stay away from that barve!", or "He is such a barve, man!" What is that? 'Barve' isn't even in my dictionary! And it was used like, 200 times!). In addition, the whole premise of the book is "unrealistic" in Star Wars terms. A bounty hunters' guild? Right...
P.S.: The character "Kuat of Kuat" also annoyed me. I think that's a dumb name.

This book was written in two parts present day (now) and flashbacks (then). Notes at the begining of chapters let you know when it is transitioning. The now part is in a way an expansion of the last couple of pages of Dengar's story in The Tales of the Bounty Hunters. I didn't have a lot of free time so it took longer to read this book than it normally would have. I am looking forward to seeing what happens in the next two books. I would recommend this book to all Star Wars fans.

First of all, I nearly gagged from reading the word "barve" on every page. I wonder if the author knows what a thesaurus is...? But I haven't read any of this author's other works, so I can't judge how the book campares to them. Second, I had a hard time keeping the time jumps straight. I found that if I took a day off from reading the book, I had to re-read a bit of the previous chapter in order for it to make sense. Thirdly, I almost fried my brain trying to figure out who was out to get who, and what everyone's motive was, etc. I haven't read Tales of the Bounty Hunters yet, but it seemed like Bossk was an adolescent heading for an anger-management program, and Zuckuss was too dang dense to even be a bounty hunter. From what I've heard, these characterizations are not accurate, based on other Star Wars material. However, I liked the Dengar/Neelah storyline, and I dig Prince Xizor. All in all, it was so-so, but not great.

I have been a reasonably avid Star Wars reader - even going on die-hard - with over sixty books in my collection. I read through every single multi-book series to date that was not a prequel novel. With the exception of one series - the Bounty Hunter Wars series. And that is because of this book - frankly, it just stinks. It's poorly written with every connotation of that phrase imaginable. I was bored to tears, slightly confused, but most importantly - I just didn't care. That's usually the best mark of bad writing - I simply did not care what the hell happened because I had no interest in the plot, the characters, or the material. I usually have great patience for Star Wars books - I waded my way through the Corellian Trilogy, the Black Fleet Crisis, and even most of the Young Jedi Knights books when I wasn't really all that young. The only time I ever quit was after reading this book. I don't really like going into plot descriptions in reviews, because it's a review not a book report. Thus, the last word on this book is - DON'T read it unless you're masochistic or entirely devoted to reading EVERY Star Wars book ever written or think that you are a long lost Boba Fett clone.

Bobba Fett is a lone wolf; cold, intimidating, and of unparalleled skill. Bossk is angry, bloodthirsty and lives for killing and the hunt. Dengar loves his fiance and wants one last big score so he can live happily ever after. Neelah wants to know who she is and is determined and impatient to get answers. Prince Xizor is devious and cunning in his quest for power and revenge... While these characters may sound like a great foundation for a great story the author feels the need to keep reiterating the descriptions I gave over and over again in a truly annoying writing style in which he drops us in the head of a dozen or more characters, even those where indepth knowledge of their thought processes isn't really necessary for the telling of the story. 2 lines of dialogue will be interrupted by a page of exposition. Action will be suspended so the characters can tell us about what we just read. It makes just about every page seem to drag on and never get anywhere. Good authors know when to show and not just tell and in this book the author doesn't seem to grasp that.

I read Star Wars books to be entertained but this book (and the others in the series) bored me so much with their fragmented style that I had to force myself to finish them. Even the good action sequences are too few and far between to salvage a lackluster story. The story might have been salvaged if Boba Fett lived up to the character that so intrigued us on the big screen but he doesn't. The action he is involved in is adequate but his little comments and comebacks are more befitting of a dim-witted high school jock wanna be tough guy full of bravado and an over-inflated ego (and just to clarify I was one of those guys so I know how we sound) then one of the most dangerous men in the galaxy.

If you are a die-hard Star Wars fan and have read Tales of the Bounty Hunters you will be horribly disappointed in Dengar's character. In that book he is 'Payback' a complex, dangerous, surgically enhanced killing machine, but in this book he is almost pathetic and barely competant and it is obvious the author didn't read, wasn't privy to, or just decided to ignore that other story. Continuity is ever a problem in Star Wars books and that is no more evident than here. Also, with the release of Attack of the Clones, the part of the book concerning the design of Slave I just doesn't mesh, which to be fair can't be blamed on the author.

I normally avoid any sci-fi books like the plague. I am an avid Star Wars fan though. So, the premise of Boba Fett surviving the Sarlacc's digestion was intriguing. Then I found myself wound up in the author's world where the bounty hunter's are at war with one another. Like most Star Wars novels, the writing is dull and witless.

THE MANDALORIAN ARMOR is K.W.Jeter's (weak)attempt at writing a star wars novel. The main problem i had with this book are its annoying continuity problems.Zuckuss as Bossk's partner?Given, both were seen as a team in SHADOWS OF THE EMPIRE(the comic)but with 4-LOM also.Fett also says to Bossk,"I was hunting before you were spawned".This can't be right! In THE ESSESIAL GUIDE TO CHARACTORS,it says Bossk is 58yrs.old!In TALES OF THE BOUNTY HUNTERS,it states Bossk has HUNTED(!)for over 60yrs.!Judging by either,Fett would be very old at the end of TALES.Also, the use of the word "barve" is highly overused. The only reason i gave it a 2 was because it was about Fett!

A friend of mine read The Mandalorian Armor, I guess that's why I read it. After reading other Star Wars books about Luke Skywalker it's good to read one that's actually about the better characters (Boba Fett). The best part was the battle at the Shell hutts' planet. I'm going to agree with the last person that 'Barve' was WAY overused. If you're a Boba Fett fan read this book.

This book is packed with suspense. Kuat of Kuat remains mysterious until you read the second book, Slave Ship. The book is about how Xizor wants to turn the bounty hunters of the Star wars galaxy against eachother. If you like the book, read the second book, Slave Ship!!!!!!!!!

This whole three-book series was a month of reading garbage. This is a whole month of my life I'll never get back. The author made the bounty hunters look like an incompetent bunch of keystone cops. What's even worse is that the author made Boba Fett seem like a tender-hearted guy just trying to make his way in the world. Whatever! Now, I'm going to the bathroom with these books and only I will return.

I dont care what other people say about this book i thought it was awesome. It left me wanting more action, more firepower, more scum and villany from these low life barves. I couldnt wait for the second book of this amazing series but I was kind of dissapointed in how some of the other bounty hunters were portrayed as cowards such as Zuckuss and a bunch of whiners like Bossk. However Boba Fett was as rad as he always is and well in the end i was satisfied with the Mandarlorian Armor.

I absolutely Loved this book. It was probably the best of any book ever written that has anything to do with the STAR WARS saga. The characters were well done and they were more than just a bunch of one dimensional people. I especially liked the two new characters that were introduced: D'harhan and K'udar M'ubat. The plot and story line flowed well, and it kept me interested right up until the last page.

I have recently listened to the first of the Bounty Hunter wars.
I thought it was a great book. I am excited to read the second in the series. I like it now everytime when I watch Return Of the Jedi and see Boba Fett isn't there and remember what he was doing in that time. I recommand it! ******************** 20 stars!

This book is pretty bad in my opinion. The author has trouble with basic syntax of the universte. His phrases are clunky, and obvious cut and paste jobs.. things like "wait a Standard Time Part" and other such gross substitutions...

I think that the writer went into detail where the detail was need but not in excess and the switching between time periods was excellent. The only word I can think of to express my feelings about this book is Kudos, Kudos

Not bad for fan written. Some editor, I would love to know who, made the mistake of thinking Jeter was an actual writer. The holes in the story are huge. I'm not sure if Jeter has not read Star Wars, or his has not bothered to read books.

Jeter should have reviewed more. I saw several mistakes in the story line. Dengar messed it up alot, Neelah is a mystery and the droids are flat out annoying! But, the Transhodan Family ties are not very close. Bossk was plotting against his own father and his father was plotting against him. And, Zuckuss was portrayed as a wimpy little side-kick. Boba Fett showed far too much emotion then is portrayed in other books. The book is mainly for information only. If you're only into information, get this book.

While the book was enjoyable overall, I found that the author shifted from present to past too often. He also didn't focus enough on Bobba Fett's past. Just enough teases and hints into Fett's past to make you want more, but never fully fulfilled.

Have you wondered about all the othere suff that doesn't happen in the movies? Then read this book. It tels about a whole bunch of other stuff, like about Black Sun. Bet ya don't know what that is! This book offers many new characters and fits perfectly within Lucas' vision of Star Wars.
