I was very impressed by this delving into the distant past of the Star Wars universe and the beginning of the two Sith Lords era. I also went back and re-read my Star Wars: Jedi vs. Sith comic series, which ties in nicely with this book. I didn't follow the comics well when they first came out a number of years ago, but this novel really clears things up. I highly recommend reading the comics after the novel to help fill in around the edges. I'm looking forward to the next Sith Lord novel!

This is defninitely one of my favorite novels I've ever read; Drew Karpyshyn is one of my favorite authors in part because of this brilliant masterpiece. It's finally a book about the Old republic written by a great author and exploration of the darkside. If you know anything about star wars, you will enjoy this book. People who have had the pleasure of enjoying the KOTOR games will especially fall in love with this novel. An excellent beginning to an amazing trilogy.

This a really darn good book about the Old Republic. The beginning is a little bit slow, but the middle and end are great. There, however, are some flaws in the book.
A) The author keeps referring to some of the light saber forms by their number. Seriously? Use the stupid terms! I had absolutely no idea the the third form was Vapad until he mentioned it briefly at the end of the book.
B) The beginning scene with Lord Kaan has absolutely nothing to do with the book. Useless five pages.
C) Someone tell the author Darth Revan became a JEDI
D)The formatting was all messed up.
Otherwise it is a REALLY good book. If you are a Star wars reader, then I would DEFINITELY recommend this book to you. Even if you hate star wars, this book will want to make you a serious Force junkie.
Nice work!

I recommend playing the KOTOR games before reading because it makes things make more sense but I didn't and I was still enthralled. Don't let the boring early chapters fool you (the main characters day to day life). The story quickly becomes a roller coaster that you don't want to stop. It left me yearning for the next book. This book will change your perspective of the sith.

i prefer the old republic novels because i believe sometimes star wars fans get too wrapped up in the original space opera buy george lucas. well eveloped and a good depiction of the beginning of 1 master 1 apprentice philosophy.

Incredible characters, excellent pacing, extremely strong character arc for Bane, and an absolute page burner of a book. I can't recommend Path of Destruction enough to hardcore Star Wars fans. The best Sith Lord novel next to Darth Plagueis.

This book takes place 1,000 years before the films, and it explaines why Darth Bane reinstated the rule of two. Also explaines the force from view point of the Sith. Drew Karpyshyn does a excellent job of developing Bane as a character. This is a must read for Star War fans.

I did enjoy reading about the Old Republic. I hope some of the other Star Wars writers do more with this era. That being said I could not get into the book as much as I would have liked. I did not like the fact that the book was "all" about the Syth. The Syth are evil and it is just not my thing. I want to read about the Jedi of that ara, but the book was 90% Syth. If you enjoy the Dark Side of the Force this will be right up your ally.

This book contains no real surprises, but its very enertaining all the same, with colorful evil characters, good plot development, and an evil flare, its a good buy. Anyone into Star Wars "history" or liked KOTOR, should definetly read this.

The story of Bane, my new favorite protagonist/antagonist depends on how you look at the book, tells the story of his rise to power since he was young. the book is written amazingly good, and makes you crave for more of Drew Karpyshyn's writing. for me it felt like its the start of a really epic trilogy (like lord of the rings) and i cant wait to read the next book.

I recieved the paperback of this book from a friend and could not put it down. I ended up yearning for the second book, so I pre-ordered it. I also ended up buying the hard back of it, just to have. All I really have to say is that Drew needs to have these three movies produced. It definetly makes it easier to see how the Emperor was set up for success. If you read the first one, you have to read all three.
