This is the ultimate entrepreneurial bible, written by an entrepreneur, for entrepreneurs.
It is practical, realistic, straightforward and concise.
It is not a bleak and theoretic academic treatise, nor a patronizing self-help manual written "for dummies".
It is exactly what an innovative, disciplined, hard-working entrepreneur needs.
It is defiitely a must read.

Excellent reference for building a Startup, generating a business based on a solution to a relevant problem. The book is a complete reference to Focus, Test (experiment), and Learn. It's a step by step guide to do it fast and at a low cost.

I found this book full of practical insights for actionable steps for the Lean Startup methodologies. Running Lean is a great companion to The Lean Startup and fills in all the gaps about putting the ideas to use. Most marketing books I read when I have time always putting them down over and over again, but this one, I was counting the minutes until I could get back to it. It's been a great resource for my business.

Ash did a superb job with Running Lean. I can't wait for his next book.
How to Innovate with Minimum Viable Products and Rapid Customer Feedback :: A Revolutionary (and Simple!) 30-Day Plan for Healthy :: [Daisy Miller and The Turn of the Screw] (By - Henry James) [published :: The Turn of the Screw and Other Stories (Oxford World's Classics) :: A Quickstart Beginner’s Guide To Lean Six Sigma

Running Lean is an incredibly good book; it covers all the key concepts of customer development and lean startups but what sets it apart is that it includes step by step instructions and useful examples of formats for interviews, metrics, etc. This is probably the best practical guide about how to develop the product and add features (using a pull approach and going into detail about how to implement this process), which most other books don't cover. And unlike the first edition, it can also be applied in borader settings and types of products.

This is the missing practical application guide for Lean Startups. Also the modified Business Model Canvas makes way more sense than the original. An absolute MUST READ for anyone looking to apply Lean Startups.

I really loved this book. It was very helpful to myself and our team as we worked to launch a new business idea. I would strongly recommend the book to anyone with a business idea who is interested in starting a new business (or launching a new product). It is full of practical suggestions on things entrepreneurs should and should not do. Applying Ash's lessons will save you precious time and money and significantly improve your odds of success.

Excellent resource for thinking about structuring your approach to launching a new idea. Ash offers a great balance of strategic and tactical thinking that you can apply to any idea you might have, which he supplies by way of a narrative case study of his own experiences. His writing is much more accessible and practical than Eric Ries and Steve Blank's books, although those are great resources as well

Great book that very effectively focuses on the methodology of defining a SaaS product and business model. Start here.

If you can't define your business on a lean canvas, you don't have a business. Back up, stop wasting resources, and focus on the right thing at the right time.

I liked that the author used his own experience and laid out a plan with concrete action steps, resources and examples that I can follow.
I recommend this for anyone without a business background who is passionate about starting a business (or helping make the world a better place ).

Very detailed, methodical approach to how Ash was able to pivot his business model until he had a working model. Practical and a step in the right direction for the lean start up movement. After reading this book I want to read more about the lean start up movement and how iterate effectively. I just hope that Ash writes a new book so that I can learn more!!!

This is an exceptionally insightful and practical book with a wealth of useful information. It provides a wealth of valuable exercises with clear direction that can help entrepreneurs navigate this tricky territory. After having read several books on this subject, I value this one the most. Exceptional all around.

This book helped me to articulate my thinking about my ideas I have for establishing businesses. This book is also helpful to learn how to distinguish between good and bad idea.
I think that the book is especially useful for persons with mindset of an engineer who begin to be interested for business perspective.
I like the way of writing which is very simple and clear. The way Ash explains his project of writing the same book is very useful for young entrepreneurs.

It's impressive how Ash Maurya has taken the Lean Startup method from theory to practice. The book gives great examples based on strong case studies, practical tools and easy to understand insight into how to perform customer interviews.

A slightly different application of the "lean startup" model with a more customer/problem-focused canvas. Much easier for my team to understand and apply in the context of non-internet solutions. The book itself is a good read, and then a great reference without being overwhelming.

Though "The Lean Startup" by Eric Ries is awesome, but Running lean is way way better. I wasn't sure exactly how to go lean with my startup idea after reading The Lean Startup but Running Lean gave me much clarity on how to handle the Phase 0 for a startup.

I really love this book.

An excellent work, with several themes to highlight, one of the most important is the adaptation to the entrepreneur's business model and may ways-very honestly focused- about the challenges and neccesary learnings to implement new ideas.

Different from The Lean Startup, which is very conceptual, Running Lean provides a systematic approach, step by step, to validate your ideas and product, find your market and start traction.
It's simply a must-have book for any startup, no matter its segment, no matter how experienced is the entrepreneur (no experience or very experienced).
I've recommended it to many people already and all of them were very thankful for my advice.

There are not many books that are not pure theory about lean startups, and this is one of them. This is a hands-on, practical, and most useful book that I've seen in a long time. If you are entrepreneur or thinking about being one, if you have a startup or thinking about having one, if you are a mentor or thinking about becoming one - this book is a must read. It is almost like a blueprint for building lean startups.

If you need a blueprint for how to get marketing, product, data, and development teams to work well together AND delight customers, read this book. It's also the perfect book to read after you've finished that innovation seminar, are pumped up to innovate, but don't know how to translate the energy into momentum. I've found that the systematic Running Lean approach can work well or be easily adapted for many different types of businesses.

Great book! I was nervous about my lack of experience with startups and didn't know where to begin. This book really hit some nails on the head, and explained aspects of business I had already thought of and why or why not they would be effective. Going to recommend to my partners, great stuff in here.

Running Lean is a must-have for developers who want a structured process to bring their creation to the marketplace. No-nonsense, completely applicable exercises that will bring the risks to the front of the line and help define your vision and mission. Great index, well-written and practical.

I have found that many entrepreneurs are frustrated with Eric Reis' "Lean Startup" because it's not actionable. Eric has written a very good book but "Running Lean" has helped execute lean quickly in a step by step fashion. It changed my view on product development drastically especially in terms of doing "problem interviews" and validating problems before beginning a solution. Ash's work has been my bible the last few weeks.

A masterpiece for first time entrepreneurs. This book combines Eric Ries and Steve Blank's theoretical knowledge and teaches you how to apply it using examples and giving you the insights for each step while building your business.

At MaRS I work with dozens of early stage companies in a wide range of industries and with a wide range of experience from first time founders to serial entrepreneurs.
When founders ask "How do I apply Lean Startup to my business?"
My answer is "read Running Lean".
It provides an actionable roadmap that guides a startup from initial idea to product/market fit. I have field-tested it with dozens of startups and it's become a go to resource. Highly recommended.

Running Lean is the best technical manual I've seen for implementation of the lean methodology in a business model.
I highly recommend this book and the related website! I've made this a part of our educational program for a Veterans StartUp Business Incubator I work with! This book is your best chance to succeed as a StartUp!

A great guide and resource to helping understand how to take concepts and develop them into business models that work. The books clear concepts make it easy to articulate to my co-workers the approach and path to new product development.

This book goes one step further than the Lean Startup and show how to apply the techniques presented in Eric Ries to iterate from Plan A to a startup.

Great for any aspiring entrepreneur that want to go the lean route.

This is really the seminal work on the practical application of lean product development as it expands incisively on the theories presented in the works of Blank (Four Steps to the Epiphany) and Ries (The Lean Startup). While its forebears are no doubt good reads and packed with useful (but more theoretical) information, this book is in itself a great starting point. If you only have time to read one, read this -- and start cutting out waste immediately after.

Most of the shared insights on startup process is explaining the end or, phases of journey, however Ash concentrates on the journey also. He shares the answers for the 'How ...?' questions.
The book is so lean that I met with many entrepreneurs adapted his canvas without any help of 3rd person/mentor.

This is the first the store review I've ever written and I've bought and read hundreds of books over the years.
I felt compelled to write something as this book has changed my business life. The lean startup was a great
theoretical foundation but this makes it practical. Ash killed it with this book and I've recommended it to
dozens of my friends.

Useful step-by-step action plan for those who think to start their business.
Less thinking and faster testing is often the best strategy.
The book provides strategy (i.e. a game plan against uncertainty)
Thank you for good book!

I highly recommend this book and other work from Ash Maurya! The Lean Startup methodology fills a gap for entrepeneurs since it provides a structured method of developing the company especially during the initial phases. Ash adds a lot of value by providing very hands-on advice and examples of how to actually DO the methodology. A must read for all entrepreneurs regardless of industry!

The Lean Startup is a great new business paradigm for new business and new ventures inside large businesses. This book is full of practical methods for implementing this methodology. Charts, worksheets, step by step guidance to how to make this work for you. Anyone starting a new company or a new product line or even revamping an old product line should read this.

For me, running lean is better than the Lean Start up by Eric Ries,

easier to apply and definitively useful,
I have always it available on my Kindle to have a look at some chapter or to the canvas better adapted for the start up and inspired by the Business Model Generation book

Having previously read Lean Startup as well and Steve Blank's work, I came to this book looking for more concrete advice on how to actually implement a lean startup approach to starting a new business. And indeed, it provided an actionable blueprint for how to proceed, from discovering the customer need to building the analytics and development team you need. Very well done.

Specific, actionable and facilitated learning for creating a company, launching a line of business, or taking on a new initiative. Certainly most relevant for SaaS businesses, but broadly applicable. Truly empowers anyone -- even without an initial idea -- to be an entrepreneur.

Excellent book for anyone from start-up to established business. It challenges the paradigm of the traditional business model and removes for us the layers that one normally associates with starting or growing a business.

I appreciate Ash's easy-going style and his focus on practicable approaches. Augments the other big books regarding Lean Business (Business Model Generation, The Lean Startup, etc.). The next crucial read. Great stuff.

My biggest frustration with the "lean" literature has been lack of a really solid "how to" guide. I love the stories and general wisdom dispensed in other books, but very little of that can be directly taken and operationalized in my own work. Ash fills that gap with Running Lean. I use it regularly in both my day job and the startup I'm working to build. A+

After reading this book, I understood why writing a business plan is not enough when starting a business. By using Running Lean methodology, you will be able to better understand the needs of your future customers and even come up with new ideas to improve your product.

Good book but appears to lean alot towards online businesses. It would be good if there were some Case studies of other successful businesses (Non Tech / Online) that have used applied the Lean Model and how they did it.
