Grimm's Fairy Tales

I enjoyed the book from a literary point of view of an adult. These fairy tales were written by the brothers Grimm for children, very frightening to todays children. The stories were written in terrifying times, when death and evil were everyday occurances. Considered from that point in time, they probably were stories of hope, since goodness prevailed by the end of each tale. Although I had considered reading it to my grandson, I don't think I will, without first discussing the history of the era in which it was written.

its a book. you read it and figure out for yourself if you like it or not. its not the new best seller. its a tried and true classic. you either know what you are getting or you dont. honestly if i knew i would be asked to review free movies and books i would have probably not gotten them in the first place. i dont have to review but writting reviews is the only way to keep the list short and manageable to gain access to the things that a review is truly vaild for.

I read many of these tales before I was 10 years of age so I am reconnecting to Literature I first came into contact with. Please introduce children to this early and not the picture book type of story

I would rate this book a 5 because of three reasons. First, Grimm's Fairy Tales is a cornerstone for children's literature. And, secondly, the format of the book is fairly good. Thirdly, and most importantly, the book was free.

Some of the stories are a little too gruesome... I like the story, Snow-White and Rose-Red, because it has a happy ending.

It was full of some very good tales. They were short, simple. A little kid could read them but I don't think it's a good idea. In like every one somebody died. But overall they were well written a little abridged but still good.

This book is one I could read over and over. It has a child-like innocence and yet can also disturb you. It's really amazing to believe that such twisted tales, meant to teach children a lesson, did not traumatize them.

I think that this book is very good, but is a little harsh sometimes and should not be read to little children. That is all. But over all, it is good if you just want to flip through some cute, short little stories.
So, yeah.

These are the original fairy tales of all of your favorites and more! I would recommend this collection of tales to anyone who enjoys a good healthy dose of classic fiction. This book is a good read for anyone, but some of the older language may be difficult for young children to comprehend.

I choose this book simply to see what kind of stories would be in it. They were all very interesting and some were absolutely adorable. I recommend this book to anyone who likes to read short stories.

I got this to read to my kids the real versions of fairy tales. There are also many that I've never heard of. Be aware though, that this volume is very hard to navigate. It was more time consuming than enjoyable. I also expected more pictures. There were hardly any. I would suggest if you're getting this to read to your kids, but a real book instead. If you're buying this for older kids or to read yourself then it probably won't be too bad.

This book is great for any age. I'm thirteen and still enjoyed it. My little brother even enjoyed the stories. There wasn't any mistakes like in other books I've downloaded and it was all very entertaining!! I highly suggest downloading it. It is a great use of time.

There were a few grammar errors but it is entertaining to read with anyone no matter the age. There are so many stories that can be used as bedtime stories or regular reading, a lot of life lessons are giving inside of this book.

Omg this book is good and addicting. I have trouble reading and this book kept my interest the while entire time. I can't wait to read book three and two. I'm dying for it as well. I must know what happens next. Definite must read and no playing. Read it!!!!!

I had a paper copy of this before our home burned down Feb 2012. I saw that this was available via Kindle and decided, what the heck. Since I have very poor luck navigating the Kindle, I will probably just read it from cover to cover as I have the other "books" that are not Scriptures. Grimm's is quite grim-just like I remembered. Thank you to the store for offering it.

The old fairy tales are fun too read but the original versions are different than the way they are told today. Some of the lesser know stories like the cat and the mouse really put the grim in Grimm's fairy tales. You assume a fairy tale has a happy ending

being kind of a moron, I started watching Grimm on TV, and somehow find it entertaining. So, I thought I would try reading Grimm's Fairy Tales. I only made it part way through the book and stopped reading. I didn't find it interesting, and I don't know if I would recommend this for small children. Having lasted this long, I'm sure others will find it more appealing than I did

I found many of the stories interesting and well written. In some stories though, it was hard to understand what was going on. I recommend this book to anyone who spends a great deal of time reading.

I haven't finished the book yet I only read a few stories, but they were very good. I would not recommend this to young children. Most of the stories are very violent so, I would say read though the stories before you read to children.

Some of the fairy tales are familiar but the titles are somewhat different. I would recommend this book to people 12 and up because some of the fairy tales are a little scary for younger children. Otherwise, great book.

I read a different version of the book several years back, and it was fun to return to all my old favorite stories through the kindle version. There are no illustrations, however the fairy tales are as good as ever!

Of course I realize that TV (and movies too) take a lot of journalistic license over the original works. But, some of the TV shows references were above me, so I bought the book and start releaning my childhood. Now I can see the show's parallels.

I enjoyed reading the tales to be familiar with them but the stories where strange. The tales that are familiar are darker content. I gave it two stars because it was dreadfully boring. Plus as a straw should never decide to be a bridge for flint. Great life lessen.

Ever since the TV series Grimm came on NBC, my wife and I have been hooked. Also you can see how Grimm's Fairy Tales have came to life on the big screen lately, now you can read the stories from the original authors. See where all of those stories came from.

Readers, beware. This is NOT the original version of Grimm's Fairy Tales. Not only is the translation unfaithful but the stories themselves are heavily edited! The Frog King for example is nothing like the original. I stopped reading the book to my niece after this tale and deleted it from my kindle. I can only advise everyone else to do the same. As a German who grew up with the original texts this butchering of a piece of my cultural heritage infuriates me - especially since the book's description does not even mention that the stories have been edited.
