Wow! Not since Swan Song has there been an apocalyptic thriller that has kept me in its grasp like this story did. It was characters were both gritty and moving, sympathetic and hard core. .. and the story was well defined, intelligent and "believable". You're sorry to see it end but the ending is perfect.

Long time McCammon fan here. He never lets me down, and the guy jumps from genre to genre like nobody else. Wish more folks read his books. I read The Border so fast I will need to do it again before long. Very good-not his best, but very good .

My most favorite book of roberts is swan song and i have read it 3 time. probably about ever 8 years or so. the border reminded me of that book. the ending was a twist but the hope for the future was there like swan song. read it from start to finish in 2 days!!

McCammon remains to one of america's greatest assets.
His stories have riveted me for decades.
Boy's Life & Down South are everything Stephen King cannot write.
Birmingham's Shining Star!!

Clearly a great author, with a fantastic writing style that still just left me a little flat. I couldn't get into the characters, and while the plot was intriguing, with a lot of promise, it didn't seem to resolve into much. Couple that with the Deus Ex ending, and I can only conclude that this isn't his best work.
