I REALLY liked the first book Alienated. I was so bummed when I just had the hardest time getting through this book. There wasn't anything really wrong with it, it just didn't quite hold my interest.

First off the overall romance suffered a lot because Aelyx and Cara were not together, Aelyx became all weird about Cara and freaking out on her and possibly some other guy, legit I know but whinny in that aspect and I had to roll my eyes. Then when they were reunited the chemistry was lacking, and felt forced.

Cara was clingy and she didn't seem to take quite the advantage that I would've thought she would've taken while living with these different people. Her blog posts were okay all that.

I did enjoy a bit more of her brother, and I enjoyed the aspect of these "aliens" and how they live, I did enjoy the conflict and the ONE twist that surprised me.

The book was predictable and I was bored most of the time, I wasn't able to connect with any of the characters like I had in the fist book. I have more hopes for the 3rd book.

Sexual Content: mild
Language: mild
Violence: moderate

Melissa Landers is just really funny, and I love that her books make me laugh. In a genre that's so full of serious and depressing books, this series is a breath of fresh air.

I also like that she's discussing issues of immigration, packaged in a way that doesn't feel at all preachy or boring. As a former expat, I thought she really captured the emotion of not feeling at home in your new country (or, in Cara's case, planet) but then also not feeling particularly at home when you go back to where you came from. It's a weird place to be in, and I think Melissa does a great job of describing that emotion.

I'm so glad my local bookstore had this one stocked early on their shelves and that I got to grab a copy. Definitely recommended for sci-fi fans looking for something light and fun!

(I'll also mention, as a side note, that this book has a bit more steam than ALIENATED, so readers who aren't interested in that should take note. You can tell that Melissa also writes adult romance books.)

I had such high hopes for this. Loved Alienated and Until Midnight but this was just lacking.
There's almost no Cara and Aelyx. It's mostly phone calls and they're reunited at the end. Instead we get creepy Jaxen who just makes Cara and Aelyx uncomfortable but no-one else apparently. Not to mention his even creepier sister but maybe not his sister?
Then there's David and Syrine. I loved David and was saddened by his actions in the end. He's Aelyx's best friend and becomes someone special to Syrine so I just didn't understand what happened with him.
Then there's Aegis and Earth. Cara is constantly bullied and framed where there punishment can be death while Aelyx is dealing with attempts on his life, almost constantly. I understand the governments reason for keeping their mouth shut but this is almost ridiculous.
Let's not forget about the a supposed other alien race that may or may not be planning an attack.

Honestly still enjoyed the series and hope there's a third one.

Cara arrives on the alien planet and is, as expected, treated badly from students and adults. However, someone is going too far with sabotage. Meanwhile, Aelyx and his companions are in even more danger as they try to forge peace on Earth and form a necessary alliance. With Cara and Aelyx separated by light years, their calls are frustrating and infrequent, causing a strain in their relationship.

Invaded is the dramatic and emotional second installment in the Alienated series. With Cara on an alien planet, it throws a new dynamic into the story. I thoroughly enjoyed this stirring sequel. Full of intrigue, suspense, drama, and romance - this YA science fiction series is riveting. With a couple of surprising twists along the way, the excitement builds to a climactic finale. I look forward to more in this captivating series.

As the second book in the series, I expected more out of Invaded. However, I found the plot to be predictable and the character development to be lacking. The biggest problem that I have with this series is the fact that the teenagers have all of the power. With regards to the aliens, this is a possibility because of the young relative age of their society. There is no way that the American government would ever give over this much power to someone as young as Cara. I do like how author Melissa Landers moves the series more into the YA Science Fiction realm, with less romance and more focus on the science fiction aspect. When it comes down to it, I just did not find this book particularly memorable.

Everything I liked about the first book fell short in this second story. The two main characters, Cara and Aelyx spend most of this book separated. Cara is on L'eihr while Aelyx is on earth. Both are dealing with problems that occur living on the other persons planet. The best part of Alienated was the interactions between Aelyx and Cara while Cara taught Aelyx about humans and living on Earth. We got zero of that in this book and it was a slow build-up to a lot of action in the last thirty pages. I'll still read United because it's the final book in the series but I'm in no rush.

This book was good. Alienated series continues to be different in this one. Sure, there were moments I didn't like but I've found that when you're eager to read a sequel, it's never as good as the first book.

Cara and Aelyx are on two different planets now, struggling to get used to their lifestyle. They make new friends and enemies. They even struggle to maintain honesty with each other (you know how there is a nagging feeling when the MCs keep secrets from each other, like you know it's going to come back to trouble them?).

I really hope to see their relationship develop in the next book as they were forced to be apart for most of Invaded. If you jumped straight from Alienated to Invaded, do check out book 1.5 Until Midnight to get more of sweet Aelyx!

Invaded is the second book in the Alienated series by Melissa Landers. This time around, we learned a little more about L’eihr. They have a different way of doing things, from their politics to their day to day lifestyle, and the more Cara learns the less sure she is about making a life in the colony. Aelyx is having a rough time on earth between the prejudices against him and all the attempts on his life. We get to meet some new characters, and get to know some of the older ones a little better. There was a twist or two. Some things I expected, but I think that was the author's plan.

Cara and Aelyx spend most of the story apart—Cara living on L’eihr and Aelyx back on Earth. Both of them have to deal with prejudice and threats. Some one on each planet seems determined to scuttle any chance of an alliance between the two planets. Cara and Aelyx both wrestle with cultural differences and with their feelings toward each other.

This is an enjoyable follow up to Alienated. Of the two story lines, I found Cara’s the more interesting, as she tries to find her way in a strange alien society. By the end of the story we find who is behind all the efforts to sabotage the alliance and destroy Cara and Aelyx. The book stands alone, but the door is left open for a third book.

It's no secret that I absolutely ADORED Alienated, and Invaded was definitely one of my most anticipated releases of 2015.

While it was really good, I did not think that it was quite as good as the first one. For most of the book, I felt like there was something missing. It may have had to do with Cara and Aelyx being on different planets, because I did not like that at all. Part of what made the first book so good was their interactions and conversations with each other, and I really missed it in this book. But the rest of the book was still absolutely fabulous. David and Syrine were absolutely hilarious, and Cara's wit had me laughing so much.

I also loved getting able to see more of L'eihr. It was cool to see how the cultures are so different, and the different ways the aliens interacted with one another.

Overall, if you are a sci-fi fan, these are definitely the books for you! I highly recommend them!

This time around Cara and Aelyx trade places, with Cara being on planet L'eihr and Aelyx back to Earth to try make amends. Add to it some conspiracy that goes on both planets. Cara and Aelyx can't wait to get together and I can't either. This book ends not on a cliffhanger but with some unanswered questions. Hopefully book 3 comes out in 2016 because I really want to read about what will happens to both planets, Cara's brother and of course Cara and Aelyx. Really enjoyed this series. And please let the kids hookup already!

Praise for Invaded!
Invaded - the sequel to Alienated - is a fast-moving action packed book filled with heart-warming romance between my favourite intergalactic couple, Alyx and Cara. It had been a while since I read Alienated but I got sucked right back into this beautifully scripted world created from the mind of one of my favourite YA author, Melissa Landers. The characters have astonishing character development from the beginning of Alienated to the end of Invaded. They grown and learned so much and I have fallen in love every single one of them.

I live in New Zealand, one of the only places in the world that doesn’t sell Melissa Landers books. I had heard about them though. When I went on holiday to America, I snatched up the first copy of Alienated I could find and I immediately wanted to live in that world, to meet mysterious yet loving Alyx and the beautiful, stubborn Cara. Most of all, I wanted to meet Melissa Landers, the person who created this phenomenal tale from the confines of her own head. For that I thank her.

After I had finished Alienated, I was on a book hangover for months. I kept rereading the same books over and over, not being able to take in any new ones as Alienated had left me thirsting for more. I couldn’t forget about them and the fact that Invaded hadn’t come out yet irked me more than anything. Even when it was released I had to wait a couple of weeks for it to arrive. It was all worth it. Invaded captured me back in to L’eihr’s clutches and didn’t let me go until I had read every last word. If I thought I was affected by Alienated, that’s nothing compared to Invaded. It leaves you scrounging around for anything more, it leaves you obsessed, it leaves you hooked. Melissa Landers is truly a genius.

Invaded starts around where Alienated left off, with Alyx going back to earth to try and reinstate the peace contract and Cara traveling to the planet L’eihr to keep the peace on that side of the galaxy. Cara has hesitation to whether she could ever belong with these hostile aliens, even when her planet is at stake. But with Alyx by her side she never stops trying. Alyx meanwhile has been the target of several assassination attempts. He’s doing what he can to mend the broken alliance between their two planets but it isn’t working. Then … well, you’ll have to find out.

If you love romance read this book. Alyx and Cara are the most stunning couple I have ever read about and will make your heart melt in no time.
If you love action read this book. This book is fast-paced with disaster after disaster occurring.
If you love sci fi read this book. Aliens, Cures for Cancer, a galaxy far, far away - sign me up. Melissa creates this whole world, this whole civilization, this whole planet, out of nothing but her imagination.

I would recommend this book for all ages and for both genders as it appeals to a wide range of audiences. It is beautifully written and you won’t be able to put the book down. I can’t wait for the third installment of this thrilling series.

I enjoyed this sequel to "Alienated" and it made me excited to read about what Cara and Aelyx's  lives on the Colony would be like. Fans of "Alienated", you won't be disappointed in this sequel. Loved the struggles they faced and the intense parts as well.

Oh My Goodness. This book had me turning the pages as fast as I could read them.As always Landers has amazing wit and incredible characters that just seem more amazing as I got to know them over this second book. My heart went out to all of them when bad things happened and I swear I wanted to cry at a few parts. And occasionally scream because I was so frustrated and things that I wanted to happen just WEREN'T happening! And then...yeah...I can't say anything else or I'll spoil Invaded for you but this book was incredible and I can't wait for the next one. Like....on the edge of my seat I want it right now pretty please kind of thing.

I really enjoyed this book, though the reason it's getting 4 out of 5 stars is the amount of time Cara and Aelyx aren't even on the same planet. For me, it was too long. But then again, the author didn't just waste that time, both Cara and Aelyx were very busy in their tasks and we see them both grow as individuals. The ending definitely left me wanting more of Cara and Aelyx!

I purchased both of these books together, so excited to read them after all of the great reviews I heard.
I could. not. put. the. book. down.
Alienated was so well written, and I was obsessed with the romance (Aelyx especially). After finishing Alienated in one day, I immediately switched over to reading Invaded.
And I also couldn't put it down! My feels were like a roller coaster throughout this book, but it was awesome! Very well written, I've already bought a bunch of copies to give to friends as gifts! I'm positive they'll love them just as much as I do!

This is such a fun and interesting series. The premise is unique and there is a lot that goes on in this book. I really hope there is enough support for a third book to help wrap up some of the major loose ends. Cara is a fun, strong and clever character. Such a fun read! Make sure you check this book out...you won't be disappointed! :)

This is a great sequel to Alienated. After reading on Malissa Landers' website that she is signed for more books one of which could possibly be the next book in this series. I sincerely hope Disney Publishing agrees to another book in the series. This could help tie up loose ends but more person to person interaction (missed the togetherness of Cara and Aelyx and the moments)

I loved the first book, but this sequel was extremely disappointing for me on several levels, and it pains me that the love I had for the characters and the story, is now tainted by this book.
I wish Alienated had been a stand-alone.

Loved the fast paced action sequel to Alienated. This was a perfect Audible book for a long drive as it was riveting and the miles just flew by. There was just a bit too mushy romance for my taste but the plot had many twists and surprises.

After reading Alienated, I had a serious book hangover! I can remember my sadness, and slight annoyance, that I would have to wait so long for the next book. Invaded definitely delivered. Invaded is perfect mix of angst, romance, action, and sadness. It's quite the ride! One that I would go on over and over. I devoured the book in a matter of hours and I can't wait to see what comes next from Melissa.

After reading alienated in a day I picked up invaded hoping for a bunch of Cara and Aelyx romance. Although there wasn't too much romance going on I still really enjoyed this book. It's always hard when the two main characters of a book spend most of it apart but this book kept me interested and dying for the next time they'd talk.

After "Until Midnight" it leaves you dying to read more. Invaded is amazing! Cara and Aelyx are on each other homelands and trying to adapt and still keep in contact with each other! Cara has to go through many cultural differences and Aelyx is trying not to die. This book takes you on an adventure and leaves you wanting more. From laughs, to a few tears, Invaded by Melissa Landers is a must read!

Invaded was an enjoyable and entertaining sequel. It was interesting to learn more about the new world through Cara's eyes as she's experiencing things. I'm really hoping there is a third book because I'd like to see more of these characters.

I LOVED both of these books and have actually read them twice, but am planning to re-read them many more times!! In this book, romance is put in the backseat while intergalactic drama is in the front. With Earth and L'eihr both hiding secrets, will Cara and Aelyx stand together or, like their homes, get torn apart?? Find out in his thrilling sequl of Alienated: INVADED!!

I was absolutely obsessed with Alienated, and this book did not disappoint. It was preordered for my birthday last year and I counted down the days till it arrived. It's different from a lot of the other books of its kind and that's what truly got me hooked. I'm definitely looking forward to reading more about Aleyx and Cara.
