Awesome story told by Crichton (later made into a movie). This edition includes some authors footnotes that help to further delve into this epic adventure of Ibn Fadlan in 922 AD with a group of Viking warriors fighting against an ancient evil. Hard to put down and historically interesting alone, this book is great for those who like Vikings or reading about cultural exchange in history. Movie follows fairly close too! (The 13th Warrior)

Although I have loved many of his books, this was not up to his usual standards. It was fun but it didn't engage me like his science projects. I thought the main protagonist wasn't believable in that time and place.

Love Michael Crichton. Good read. It appealed to me as it is also his spin on the Beowulf legend. It reads like a Crichton novel but I picked up on and enjoyed the legendary literary ties. Even though I usually see the movie after reading the book, seeing the Thirteenth Warrior didn't harm the appeal of the book and in fact made me want to read it more.
a gripping crime mystery with a sinister twist (Detective Inspector Skelgill Investigates Book 4) :: a gripping crime mystery with a sinister twist (Detective Inspector Skelgill Investigates Book 1) :: Illiberal Democracy at Home and Abroad (Hardback) :: Can America and China Escape Thucydides's Trap? - Destined for War :: A Novel by Michael Crichton (2016-01-26) - Eaters of the Dead

Interesting Crichton book. Historical fiction, not quite as deep in Science research.
Good story well told. As an American, it touched on history that was never touched in any of my history classes.

Michael did such a fantastic job of blending real sources with his own story that is is truly difficult to discern between what is real and what is not. The story is simple, yet compelling and engaging.

I bought this book after reading another Crichton book, Jurassic Park, and loved his writing style. As soon as I got back home from vacation I had to order this. The story was amazing and the writing is amazing.

I wanted to read this book simply because i enjoyed the movie ( the 13th warrior) that was based off of this book. The movie was close enough to the books plot that i wasnt dissapointed, but the book really had a different twist, both in the style of writing, and in the explanation to the origins of the antagonists. I thouroghly enjoyed it!

From chapter one I found myself unable to set the book aside for more than maybe ten to twenty minutes at a time. As much as I loved the telling of the story through the film, "The Thirteenth Warrior", once again, in the fashion of all stories it would seem, the book is far more entertaining than the film.
