Soars into the range of excellent! Why? The heroine does not come from a dysfunctional family; was not an orphan; was not a victim of violence. She has a 'gift' that she has to live with, and does so with grace and intelligence all the while we must remember still a teenager. Then there is the art of story telling. Well done, very well done.

Far too predictable and amateurly written for my taste. Too many "oh brothers" and eye rolls made by me whilst reading the first few chapters. Probably less discriminating readers will enjoy this story is twilight readers

This was offered free through book bub and I have to say pretty darn enjoyable. I like all the characters and felt the story line was good as well. I will get the rest of the series as this might be one worth purchasing, unlike most that start with the first free, buy the rest and they suck. Good for all the fantasy, vampire, wolf readers.

I enjoyed this book. Tessa was funny and straightforward. She irked me with the whole Mate issue but in the end I enjoyed this story very much. I would recommend for a short read with no frills involved.

I really enjoyed this book. The plot and characters were interesting and intriguing, however I don't feel as though it went as deeply as it could have. There was a lot of "it's a long story" and "I'd like push him/her/them more about it, but this isn't the time/there's more important things to do". While I do enjoy the nice tease about something deeper into a character, there seemed to be a little too much of it. I will be continuing to read the series, but only as side books when I have some extra money. I don't feel as though I got enough book for the price.

I started reading this book with high hopes - and let me tell you, I most certainly wasn't disappointed. Within hours I had devoured this book right up and was sadly reading the final words. The only thing that brought severe disappointment to my day was the fact that the following book is not out.

Aileen - thank you for introducing me to such an exciting new world - and filling it with such loveable, believable characters.

Now get writing!!!

There are certain things that make a book good to me.... It must keep me interested, very hard for me to put it down and be entertaining. This book hit all the marks. Some of the other reviews discussed some discrepancies in the book and there were some but, this book is still worth reading. I would recommend it to anyone that wants to read something that keeps you interested from the beginning to the end.

Aside from the misspelled words here and there, and the super short chapters, I actually really enjoyed this book. It was refreshing to have a strong teenage female lead for a change (unlike Bella Swan)! I couldn't put it down and was thoroughly engaged from the first chapter. I would have liked to have a more detailed back story on the leading male character, Dastien Laurent. However, I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys supernatural fantasy romance with a healthy dose of badass! I can't wait to start book 2 in the series!!

I enjoyed the unusual twists to the plot. Good character development in a subtle manner that flowed with the story. You only realized later you knew so much about the individuals and environment it became reality. Stayed up to 4 AM to finish the book! Looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

In under 24 hours I completely devoured this book and moved on to book two. It was an easy read and the author's writing style seemed to flow well creating an interesting storyline. I'm anxious to see how things pan out for Tessa and Dastien.

Really good story line, I downloaded it as a fluke because it was doing a free weekend and didn't start reading it for a few months, then after I started I almost put it down because I thought it was going to be too tweeny and twlight for this old one but i'm glad I didn't because by the end I was hooked and purchased the next. one.

Great start to a series. Main character was a little moody, but it was justifiable and not overdone. She eventually became the strong female lead like I prefer to read about. I do wish more was explained about her power, or maybe if she used it a bit more in general, or more creatively it would have made the story a bit more unique but overall great read.

I really liked Becoming Alpha! In some ways, it's a pretty typical YA paranormal, but in other ways it felt totally fresh. Either way, it was a lot of fun, because Tessa isn't one to just sit back and let others run her. Her family has just moved from LA to Texas due to her father's job. Tessa is dreading the move, but also looking forward to being somewhere new where she isn't known as a freak. She's a psychometric, so whatever she touches gives her flashes of that objects past. She also sometimes gets visions from skin-to-skin contact, so she's careful to not touch anyone and wears gloves. Well, the new Tessa still doesn't fit in, since she gets bitten by a werewolf her first weekend, and has to transfer to the special school.

It's no secret that I adore special school settings, and Becoming Alpha did not disappoint in that regard! The school actually seems pretty normal, except that all of the students and faculty are werewolves. They still have normal classes, but mixed in with things like Metaphysics and Yoga. Tessa's transition wasn't so smooth though, since she knows literally nothing about werewolves. I mean, they did give her The Werewolf Bible, but too many people have touched it for her to actually read it. Plus there's this matter of being mated.

Of course, there's a romance, but it's not too huge of a part of Becoming Alpha. Well, the romance is kind of the reason Tessa was bitten and the cause of some of her problems at the new school. Dastien bit her because of reasons! He's super hot, but kind of moody, but that's his wolf. I was actually worried about the romance in the beginning, but there are reasons. And Tessa doesn't just automatically accept those reasons, and Dastien doesn't push her. They actually spend some time together, have common interests, and no one is proclaiming undying love. It's pretty great actually.

I also really liked the plot. Becoming Alpha isn't just about werewolves. Tessa's powers come about because she's half-witch. Then there's also vampires, who are the bad guys! In fact, some come to attack the school, even though it's well hidden, because there's a traitor at the school! Obviously, Tessa has to use her abilities and her fresh perspective to solve the case and save the day. It was still exciting though, since even though we know who's behind it, there's still the matter of rescuing everybody and fighting off the undead!

Becoming Alpha was just a fun read. I loved the combination of supernaturals, and I really liked Tessa. Sure she complains a lot, but her whole life was just uprooted and she's having to learn a whole new culture that she's been thrust into. She questions everything and fights for her rights, and all that good stuff.

I usually find new series by downloading the first book for free. I'm pretty cheap, so usually I can ignore the rest of the series if I have to pay for it, but this series is that good! I loved how she fleshed out the characters and left you wanting more.

This book was so cute. It had me ooohhhhing thought the whole thing. It was a roller coaster but it had me hooked from the beginning, the main character was strong sweet and challenged the ideals of her new found pack, I loved it and I loved her.
Im looking forward the next one, which I'm going to buy and read now

Tessa is interesting, strong and intelligent. Her actions are realistic to her situations and keep the reader involved in the story. The characters are great. They work well. This is a good read that keeps the reader hooked. It's not the typical young romance which made me like it even more.

this story was beyond fantastic, unbelievably built brick by brick from teen angst, werewolf, true love, and Spanish witch, hunky men, etc. like a country and western song it used every hackneyed idea known to romance writers.

Great novel with lots of action, drama, and romance. The author keeps your attention by providing a story that has non-stop action or something else constantly going on. A werewolf/witch and hunky alpha males....loving family, great friends and bad villains...what more could you want.

I loved the characters, I loved the mix of cultures and languages (especially since I understood all three). The conflict was great, and I never got annoyed with it. Great ending, and I'm looking forward to the second book.

Very good story line. Great characters!! Couldn’t put it down! Can’t wait to read the sequel!! Love the strong female lead character, glad she isn’t sappy and has to have a man save her all the time!! Interesting witch and werewolf combo!!

This book started off very oddly. I was trying to figure out what Tessa was going through & what she is. Axel is an excellent big brother & I liked their dynamic. When they moved to the new city & she encountered Dastien was odd. The whole meeting and interaction was kinda creepy. As the book goes by, the plot gets better. Dastien is an odd odd werewolf lol, yes ik he's hawt & all, but I have no connection to him. I have more of a connection to Chris & Adrian who r regular 'weres', if you will.
The series does improve & I'm on the third book.

I really enjoyed this book and finished reading it in one day. I loved the characters, the author's writing style, and that it felt like a complete story. I'm a fan of reading series because I feel more vested in the characters, but I don't like feeling the story was incomplete and that didn't happen though I am looking forward to the second book which I'm starting right away
