The effort of the author is to sincerely convey experiences professionals have had during the line of Duty; but it for fell short for me because the subjective nature that many of the stories have to do with only one witness describing what they've seen and or describing a 'feeling', which is the nature of most ghost stories.
Things get very interesting when there is camera evidence and multiple eyewitnesses.
Don't let this review take away anything from the book it was a very enjoyable read and very sincere

It shipped as expected. The stories are short, and would serve to create interest in someone who has not had any reading experience in this field. The stories are not exciting but promote thoughtful consideration. Each story leaves the reader with a question in his/her mind as to whether this was real or illusion.

I liked this book because the stories come from police and health professionals. These people, I believe, are overall going to be trustworthy with the experiences they relate. Also, their stories fit the pattern of other people's experiences.

A nice collection of ghost stories. Some sections are compilation of previously published news, not original material. One section on "coincidences" stuck me as odd and out of place for a paranormal stories book. Aside from some sections of "filler" material, it is not a bad collection of cops and ghosts stories.

Best book I've read on the subject. Fascinating and sometimes chilling, there is enough variety here to hook people of every interest. I really liked the UFO story and the stories about people vanishing in front of the officers.

Loren Christensen is well known for his martial arts writings and his fictional Dukkha detective series, but I think he has outdone himself in this great collection of paranormal stories experienced by police officers and some with military training and combat experience. What I want to imply is that these officers are basically "made of steel" and well trained. And in some stories, even their K-9 counterparts would not "go into the night" with them. It's a chiller book that you will read again and again...with the lights on!

Well written. I didn't think this would be readable at first when I realized it was being told in first person format and from police/military accounts.
I found it unbelievable that any law enforcement person would publish anything true. or . all these stories would be allowed to be printed by the powers that be in the current state of political (keep the rabble in the dark secrecy is #1 priority) environment we live in today. Refreshing, to think there are still some honest, or very convincing make believe authorities. No insult meant towards the author. It is a good compilation, written so it held my interest and gives a few goosebumps too! I love the UFO accounts, especially the ones from the Keys base. The subject of the animal mutilation has been going on for many decades, way, way, back, as long as I can remember, is a true unexplained mystery. No definite answer from anyone there. Another big cover up in my conspiracy theory.
Overall, and including the religious inclusions stories it is very entertaining and I would recommend this book, it is a Good Read.

Thank you for your bravery and sharing Mr. Christensen.

This book has some hair raising stories! The creep factor is way up there as well.
And the thing that REALLY gets you is knowing of the ridicule that these officers will most likely endure when or if they share their stories.
Well, color me convinced!

Police officers see a lot of bad things during their careers: most of these things are the result of the darkness that resides inside of the human soul and leads some individuals to crime. However, some events are beyond any rational explanation and police officers see their share of those. The subject matter is very interesting and the compilation format makes this a page turner (I read it in three days); I give it one star less because of the lack of edition in spelling and grammar.

This book was pretty good! I usually don't enjoy these type books for whatever reason, basically a collection of short stories from various individuals either re-told by them or by the author's retelling (think the Campfire Horror series). However, something about his one sucked me in. I enjoyed the uniquely law enforcement (and similar professions) take on the paranormal. Perhaps it was simply the fact that the nature of the stories (high speed chases, investigating burglaries, shootouts involving deranged individuals, etc) was interesting on its own accord, and the added dimension of the paranormal made it doubly satisfying and enjoyable.
The first two sections of the book were highly enjoyable, but the book lost steam as it went down the home stretch. In particular the sections on spirituality and UFOs were fairly bland.
The spritual occurences are things that happen to ordinary people often and as such were not as specifically unique to law enforcement.
The UFO stoies, while interesting, didn't really jibe with the rest of the stories in the book (other than related to the entry in the earlier chapter by the same individual, i believe).
Would've been better to wait on another 40-50 stores collected related to first several chapter and base book solely on those imo.
One final thing i didn't care for and found distracted from overall enjoyment of book was the mostly uneccesary multitude of very short blurb type stories at the end of each section. Some of these were interesting, others pointless and just too brief to be meaningful. I felt these were just forced in as filler material, almost like i add any scraps i find in the fridge into a soup just to not have to throw them away. Well, better to place the scraps in the garbage and keep them from spoiling the casserol in some cases. And even within the blurb they were poorly edited. One of the blurbs that i did enjoy was the second to last one in the book. Hairs stood up on my neck upon reading that last line about the broken branch on the tree overhead and the likelyhood the cow was dropped from the sky. That would've been the perfect, satisfactory ending to the book and left me with a smile on my face. But, alas, the author instead throws in one last "scrap" story about a collection of lights aligning that is basically a single paragraph and adds nothing to the book. Not only is it filler but, worse, meaningless filler. Why?
Still, despite the fact that the book tries to do a bit too much, it is a very solid and enjoyable read overall, mostly based on the first several sections.

What I liked most about this compilation of anecdotes and overview of strange occurrences was the voice of the main author and some of the better contributions. It's interesting to hear the perspective of law enforcement personnel as they relate mysterious experiences. Some stories could have used better editing, to clean up misspellings and missing words, but most of the tales were clear, and some were very well told. All in all, I enjoyed this book.

I found this book book to be interesting and trust worthy. Trust worthy because the author informs you of unexplainable experiences by no nonsense professionals without embellishment. The honest revealing of these experiences is thought provoking and appreciated. Highly recommended to those who are curious about the unexplainable and appreciate honest revelations regarding them.

My Grandfather on my father's side was Sargeant for the Chicago Police Dept. My other Grandfather worked as a grounds keeper in a cemetery, so you can just imagine how much I loved these stories. They were scary without the paranormal element. Great job. I couldn't put it down.

Very well written, fast-paced , never a dull recounting of absolutely baffling police cases. I particularly loved the Divine Intervention part: I was brought close to tears. My hat is off to the fine men and women who keep the rest of us safe.

As the family of LEO, I am intensely interested in paranormal stories involving first responders. I knew that there were true tales to be told, but now my curiosity is starting to be quenched. I want more books like this, please.

I love these types of stories. I hope the author will submit more in the future. I shudder to think what some of these professionals encounter "on the job." If anyone is subject to such experiences, it would be the men and women who risk their lives daily, to keep us safe.

Short, but interesting. The one thing I really don't enjoy about books like these is their short length - just about the time I'm really getting interested, it is over. However, there were some interesting stories. I may decide to read more by this author.

I had Trouble reading the ghost stories at night because any little sound I heard I though "GHOST!" But I'm okay now. I especially liked the cow part at the end, I really thought that was interesting.

I have no doubt that weird, unexplainable things happen every day, yet fail to be recorded. In fact, I've experienced a few myself. I really enjoyed reading about these creepy occurrences and hope the author will continue to compile them.

I love anything paranormal. Hearing the stories of people in law enforcement really intrigued me. I've seen a few stories from policemen on websites but here there all compiled into one book. I recommend this book. Great Read. I hope he makes book 2!!

This book was better than I expected. Each story gave great details along with the storytellers feeling and thoughts. I would recommend anyone interested in the paranormal read it. Anyone interested in the day to day lives of a police officers daily duties will be quite surprised to know this is another risk our boys in blue take daily.

This was a good basic read for someone interested in the paranormal and in true crime as it was a kind of cross over book. I think some of the stories could have had some more background of the location in the story to make it more interesting but overall I liked it.
