Noble House Vol. 2

Although Noble House stands on its own as an excellent page turner, it's a much more enjoyable read as the last of Clavell's novels chronologically. Shogun, Tai pan, Gaijin and King Rat give a delightful history and back story that enriches ever chapter and character of Noble House. Alone or as the end of a series, I highly recommend this novel.

Long novel with an intricate plot. I enjoyed it a lot. Other reviewers have covered the plot and given their opinions. I'll just give one tip. Unless you can clear your calendar so you can read without interruptions, I'd recommend buying the Kindle version of this book if you can. That way if you have to put it down for a while and come back to it, you'll be able to search back through the book electronically to remind yourself of plot details that happened several hundred pages ago. This will help you tie everything together.

Be warned however, you probably won't want to put it down in the first place. Great story.

James Clavell's Noble House is an interesting and enjoyable read. I have read all of his Asian Saga and have found his books to be fascinating with enough story to keep you turning the pages to the end, and wishing for more.

I enjoy all of Clavell's works. Shogun first, then Taipan, King Rat, Noble House and Whirlwind. They follow with familiar characters in most cases. They seem to be historically correct and they keep your interest throughout. They're excellent reads.

This was an extraordinarily entertaining novel filled with plot on top of plot. There is never a dull moment as the prolog hooks you find out more about the Noble House and the characters therein. I found it hard to put down and felt sad at the end to know that Mr Clavell has passed and no more of his talented writing will be forthcoming. The only criticism is that like most books now there are parts that offend readers with high morals. The novel would have been just as good or even better with the sex and filthy rhetoric left out.

James Clavell penned a masterpiece in this Asian saga. Noble House is the last in the series, but by no means the worst as is often the case in trilogies or series books. I have enjoyed every book and have had the need to read all of them several times. I highly recommend Noble House to anyone in search of a wonderful read.
