Interns and fourth year medical students should seriously consider buying this book. It's well written, relatively concise and filled with practical examples and clear analogies. Most importantly, it gets straight to the point of teaching you how to set and adjust the vent rather than droning on about the theories and science behind it all. I could've used a book like this 10 years ago when I met the poor guy who became my first ventilator patient. Come to think of it, I'm guessing he really wishes I had a copy of the book then too!

Great book that gives the breakdown of different mechanical ventilation modes. This is a great book for ICU nurses (both new and seasoned), respiratory therapists, residents, fellows, and physicians! Highly recommend!

This guide provides a succinct review of key topics in mechanical ventilation use. The first section is a great little primer on troubleshooting the ventilator. Of course, you're going to have to go to your favorite critical care textbook (or Tobin's tome on all things mechanical ventilation) for more nuanced discussions of these topics. Give this a read before your ICU rotation!

Very well covers topics that have a more immediate application when working in the field. Further understanding the patho and anatomy behind the covered conditions will make the knowledge more applicable, but covering those is not the purpose of the book. Highly recommend if you ever need to work with mechanical ventilators

The chapters were relevant, well divided and adequately explained the physics and physiology of vent management. The book dispels the mantra passed from ICU doc to doc and replaces it with good science. For anyone who wants to learn the vent in a couple of days.

A quick an efficient review of mechanical ventilators in the clinical setting. Probably on of the best close to The ICU book my Marino. Would recommend for anyone who is going to step foot in an ICU.

This is a practical, quick read reference on basic ventilator support for nurses, residents and respiratory therapists. Additionally, the author combines his expertise and knowledge with inserts of humor in this pocket guide. Worth the price!
