I started this series without any expectations. I had just finished the series The Event Group Thrillers by David L. Golemon and was pleasantly surprised by the genre so I quickly looked up similar style books. After starting a few series by popular writers, I found that I was not drawn into the world or characters of the super duper elite fighting teams of detailed Special Forces. I knew that there had to be something that I could emurge myself into while carpooling to work on my van-pool. I soon found this series first book, Prime. I immediately found the characters individually entertaining and uniquely robust.

I really enjoyed all the locations that the team visits and the dangerous threats they must overcome together as a team. From ancient folklore to futuristic science, the team overcomes staggering odds that seem to project them into their next mission. With state of the art weapons and pure military instincts; Jack Sigler leads "Queen", "Rook", "Bishop" and "Knight" across the globe in action packed, after action packed adventures.

Each member of the team has his or her own unique set of character traits that is key to their individual call sign. These call signs are based on the game of chess. The villains and pawns are believable and help shoot you into "could be" and "what ifs". The chess piece names are perfect for the maneuvering of the characters the author defines through the team’s handler A.K.A. Deep Blue.

The missions the team embarks upon are based on genetic sciences and anomalies. Pure fantasy with a taste of realism that will grab your inner childhood dreams of fighting monsters and modified humans. After a few books I realized that there are parallel books that develop each individual team member according to their call sign. I did some research and had to stop reading the book I was on to go back and read the individual books. I had noticed that it seemed like I had missed an episode or fallen asleep during a movie and was trying to catch up. Once I deciphered the timeline order, I was off to the races!

I have to add that these books are quick reads and great for my attention span (which my wife says if that of a sixteen year old). Overall I have to say I've recommended this series to other people who enjoy a fantastical thriller with pseudoscience and cryptology running a muck in a world of mystery and suspense.

It's here. Cannibal. Get set, read! I started the book at 5pm and I was finished reading the entire ebook by 12:32am. I was exhausted, but I was in awe of Jeremy Robinson and Sean Ellis and what they achieved with this 7th Chess Team book. Cannibal is at the top of its game with history, a little of this, a little of that and it was a book I could not put down! Every Chess Team book I have read is entertaining, fun to read, a fast read, a great read and this was 100% awesome. Jeremy Robinson and his co-author, Sean Ellis never fail to bring you, the reader, into the story. I always feel like I'm racing through the jungles, going from one site to another with the team. I loved this ebook. The Chess Team books and novellas is a great series, but I also suggest you check out ALL his books. They will not disappoint. No spoilers, you need to read the book and find out for yourself what a fantastic ebook this is. Get the ebook or the book, CANNIBAL, sit down and spend time with the Chess Team. And I will definitely recommend any of Jeremy's books to one and all. Thank you Jeremy and Sean for another great adventure.

A thrilling action packed new installment in Mr. Robinson's Chess Team/Jack Sigler series of novels and novellas. The author incorporates one of the great colonial mysteries of our time, the disappearance of the Lost Colony of Roanoke, with his typical brand of fast paced military spec ops battling with horrifying monstrosities. Throw in some despicable politicians and even more despicable drug lords and you get some action that is fast and fun...and at times creepy. Some may find a part of the subject matter a bit disturbing (as evidenced by the title) but its content has importance to the overall story and is far less than anything one may find in a horror novel.

One thing I did notice and enjoyed was a continued move towards the emotional development of the major characters. As the various Chess Team stories have progressed the writing of these characters has progressed as well...and for the better. Another surprising development was a clear intention to set up future novels with even more mysterious villains (possibly?) and the introduction of a character that will have a legitimate and obviously major impact on the future of Jack Sigler, the main protagonist of the series.

Fans of the overall series will not be disappointed. New fans however may be confused if they pick up this novel as a start. You can read this book as a stand alone but to truly enjoy the characters having a solid background form previous stories helps a lot. If you are an action thriller fan do yourself a favor and read the earlier books in the series first. Trust me you will not be disappointed.

Whew! 5 Stars! A biting-your-nails-while-sitting-at-the-edge-of-your-seat story by none other than Jeremy Robinson and Sean Ellis!

I'm talking about their newest release - Cannibal. This one hit the ground running as usual, filled with action and suspense all the way! All seems lost and impossible for the Chess Team. Will this be the end of the Chess Team as we know it? Which ones will survive? Will they solve the age old mystery of the Roanoke Colony or will that be their undoing? There is so much at stake in this novel. And you won't belive how it ends! All I can say is I WANT MORE! Excellent writing from these two guys.

Holy crap! From the beginning of Cannibal, Robinson picked up right where he left off with Savage. The team is involved in some hot action with a drug cartel as they fight for their lives, in more ways than one. Meanwhile, there is some kind of strange outbreak in North Carolina that strangely ties in with the battle the Chess Team faces. The action was nonstop, and there are a few jaw-dropping developments throughout the story that leave you wanting the next book immediately! You better get writing, Mr. Robinson. Your fans await the fate of the Chess Team!!

CANNIBAL picks up shortly after the events of SAVAGE, with the Team facing some doubts for the first time in a long time. Meanwhile, they don't know it yet but they are about to face one of their greatest, and gravest, challenges yet. Along the way, the Team will be rocked to its very core unlike ever before... So sit down, strap in, and get ready for one of the wildest rides yet from the master of the wild ride.

Oh, and unfortunately you will never look at BBQ the same again - a true shame, if you are a Southerner like me who eats it regularly... :D

Cannibal is the latest in the Jeremy Robinson Chess Team series, co-authored with Sean Ellis. The story is an adventure combining the mythos of the lost colony at Roanoke, the ancient Aztec civilization and a Native American tradition.

The Chess Team is once again going after the unknown. This mission will leave them reeling. A treasonous, treacherous senator is working hard to bring down the Chess Team. It looks like he might just succeed. Additional, his actions set off a biological contamination on American soil. King’s fiancé is sent by the CDC to investigate. I love the Chess Team, after the losses sustained in a previous story one would hope for a better mission than this one is turning out to be.

Jeremy and Sean are very successful at drawing us into the story and getting us attached to the characters. By the middle of the story, I was sad, angry, and unbelieving that what was happening could actually be happening. If you are a Jeremy Robinson fan, this is a must read, if you aren’t and you like elite military action combined with imaginative and horrifying monsters you will want to read this book. Then, you might just be drawn to read the rest of the series to get the full effect of Jeremy’s vision. It’s awesome!

I'm big fan of the military thriller, especially ones with a sci-fi horror bent (see Jonathan Maberry's JOE LEDGER series and Greg Beick's Alex Hunter series) and I've especially loved Jeremy Robinson's Jack Sigler/Chess Team series.
After the events of OMEGA and SAVAGE one would think that Robinson and his co-writers would have the deceny to let things settle for Jack Sigler and Co. Nope. Cannibal takes them on a helluva ride from the events of the Roanoke mystery to modern day drug cartels who fancy themselves as an Aztec cult.
Several plot threads at first seem out of sync with each other but as the story progresses you see them dovetail into one another.
I really liked this book but the only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars is that the character developments weren't as balanced as previous books. Knight, the new Bishop and Deep Blue get a lot of screen time but I kept waiting for more time for Queen and Rook. Usually there seems to be a bit more attention spread out over the entire team. It's not a big deal as I love Knight and obviously what he's going through after Savage needs to be addressed.
By the end of the book the game has changed again for the team and ends with a great cliffhanger. I just hope I don't have to wait till 2016 to read the next book.

This book was awesome and the events so unexpected. I am a HUGE fan of everything Robinson has written but especially the Chess Team! As I was reading this my jaw kept dropping. What are Jeremy and Sean thinking, how can they write this, what is going to happen next. I couldn't fathom the events that take place in this book but now I can't wait till the next one to see WHAT HAPPENS NEXT! I highly recommend this book and all written by Jeremy Robinson and Sean Ellis.

Wow. Another amazing read by Mr. Robinson. Not a read for the feint of heart, but if you like stories with people eating other people then go for it. Although this story is not what your thinking. Strange elements are whats causing these things to happen, and a crazy head of a cartel. Naturally the Chess Team has to go in and take care of it. But what a mess! In itself, it is an interesting story. Just because of the place where it all began. History buffs would probably find it far-fetched, but hey, that is what your imagination is for. And these authors have a lot of that!

The latest Chess Team book is yet another home run. I love this explanation of the lost colony and the Croatoan legend. Particularly the way it links into the existing Chess Team universe. Long time fans of the series will love this release. Anyone new to the series is in for a treat. Creative and higher energy, everything you expect from a Robinson thriller.

I first started reading Jeremy Robinson’s books a year ago, and haven’t been disappointed yet. In “Cannibal,” the Chess Team battles everything from drug lords to mutant humans. Old enemies reappear, adding political strife to the storyline. Robinson does a great job of developing his characters, and the parallel stories join together flawlessly, as they always do. This book was a gift, and I was sorry when I finished it.

Love the Chess Team! Just as good as Rolllins IMO. King is a badass. Queen is also a badass. Taking the good fight to Mexico and back. Super fun as usual if you're a fan like me. Crazy, gory, funny and downright action in its finest. A few cliffhangers as well. Ready for the next.
